Effectiveness Of Various Manufacturers Generic Adderall
UpdatedMany pharmacies use whatever companies products are currently available to to dispense. Shire's name brand products are often covered under all but a few insurance companies. It is the "most effective" in Shire's opinion. Teva, a Israeli pharmaceutical firm, as well as others make generic off shoots of mixed amphetamine salts cocombinations. They may be in short supply in areas. Small independent pharmacies are not allotted as many of these CII stimulates. Paying cash is preferred by pharmacies if generic substitutions are not marked or not in stock. One takes what one can afford or even find. My MD always issues me three different but similar Rx's and DOES NOT label them "NOT TO BE ISSUED A MONTH APART." A issuance of a Rx of a CII like generic Adderal's dispersal is a issue for the month of February

After disinterest in my complaint of poor quality of CoreLab amphetamine salts 20mg last 2 refills 3/20 - 6/3 (have yet to open last one filled 6/30), seems they did no inquiry to the source and only stated to me the they had no plans to fill with another lab and I should find one. Other pharmacies in my neighborhood say the same thing. I then contacted CoreLab:

I explained CVS' lack of follow up and today I got a response from From: Drug Safety. Sent: Friday, July 14, 2017 9:16 AM.

I called them and answered some questions and said I would follow up with email questions. They did not say where they were from when I asked but said they suspect this case was forwarded to them from the company. I am determined to have this investigated as long as it takes as I am not functional and withdrawal is not a good thing. On a broader scale how many drug companies are getting away with this sort of thing putting lives at risk.
I URGE EVERYONE TO CONTACT COREPHARMA AND THE AGENCY THAT CONTACTED ME TO FILE COMPLAINTS.
The generic extended release formulation of amphetamine salts dispensed at our pharmacy are actually the Shire brand of Adderall in a generic bottle. It is a very interesting world in pharmacies now. Some brands of drugs are manufactured by generic companies and some generic drugs actually are just the brand drug in a generic bottle. My pharmacy also gets Venlafaxine in a Greenstone bottle that actually have Effexor XR printed on the capsules.
Re: PaRPh (# 2)
I would not use the word "interesting" to describe the situation today. Pathetic might be the right place to start. When a patient has spent many weeks or months trying to finally get into the doctors office in order to get a prescription of a medication that once worked and it does not, it is pathetic. In this modern world their is absolutely no excuse for inconsistency in the medication that the patients receive, when they receive those medications from the same manufacturer and their prescription has not changed. It really strikes a nerve with me that medication that is simply inferior or ineffective (or is causing only nasty side effects) can not be returned to the pharmacy. What other product can you think of that is "non-returnable" if defective?
In my case, I am attempting to get back on adderall generic after a 2 year break from it. I am attempting to get a THIRD bottle this month, due to two other bottles (prescriptions which I pay cash for $150.00-175.00) absolutely not working... at all. Just giving me an overall nasty and sick feeling, with headaches and stomach aches. What a great deal for the companies making money off it, huh?
Re: Steve (# 3)
Hi there! I've been on Adderall XR 30mg twice daily and have gone through so many nightmares with generics! Your complaints will get nowhere, FDA or any of its advocates will never care about a simple or just a few complaints. Now, where there is a CLASS LAWSUIT they will definitively respond and investigate. I have tried all of the generics of Adderall XR and can say that the only ones that work the way they should are made by SHIRE and SANDOZ. These are strictly the ones that have worked for me.
I get them at Walgreens and always call them up a few days in advance of my script to make sure they will have them in stock.
Good luck!!!
Kim, Your post of 2015 regarding Shire Brand and Teva Manufacturer of mixed salts interests me, just now. I'm wondering if you can link me to more information that is current about the products. Let me explain. I have all symptoms of ADD, but I am just opposite of Hyperactive. Over the last 3 years, I found that the impact of various versions on my wellbeing have changed. Core Pharma was good for a while, then disappeared from market. Aurobindo completely depresses me...oh, gad zookes, it's horrible for me. Then Teva, Sandoz, and Mellincott (?) seemed ok. Finally, insurance company approved me for Brand after Teva became unavailable, unless I paid cash (as you stated). The insurance reimbursed me full amount, after I went over the heads of the customer service department. So, pharmacists provide Teva, since I liked the mixed salts. However, I do not have the motivation, sense of well being, and physical and mental strength that were important to me in the past. So, here's my questions. 1. Does Shire make a different Brand product? 2. Have the formularies changed for all the mixed salts, to deal more with hyperactivity? Where can my doctor and I find information about treatment for my depression and ADD? Your knowledge and references are greatly appreciated.
Re: fromnyc (# 1)
I’ve been bitching about aurobindo generics for years. They don’t work, and they give me headaches, shakes, and sweats. I get tested at pain management and I am just waiting for a week where I don’t actually need my meds so I can take the aurobindo that i have to see if it even tests as adderall. I don’t think it will.
Re: fromnyc (# 1)
I stopped using CVS and Rite Aid because they only stock Aurobindo Adderall and I hate it. It gives me anxiety but doesn’t actually work, so I go to a local pharmacy and they get Teva. I like those, though I am on a really low dose so they may be weak for all I know. I am just glad they don’t make me sick like Aurobindo.
Re: Sleepy (# 6)
I agree that Aurobindo generic adderall are worthless. Several years ago they were passable but they farmed out the actual manufacturing to a similar company and went to hell.
Re: Steve (# 3)
I can't even tell you how many bottles I have had to throw away because they were made by Aurobindo and those are no good. I cannot take them. I have also had to throw away Aurobindo zofran and firocet as those caused dangerous side effects that don’t happen with other manufacturers meds.
Re: Chris (# 5)
Aurobindo adderall is bad.
Teva works ok for me.
The Mallinckrodt (sp?) are so weak I would have to take twice as much as my prescribed dose (teva I split in half and they work, so the M pills are EXTRA weak).
Re: fromnyc (# 1)
This epic pharma Adderall is like a placebo. The withdrawals are horrible. This is so upsetting!
Re: fromnyc (# 1)
the manufacturer doesn’t care, we should all be reporting it to the FDA.
I will only accept Teva because they are the only ones that seem real. My doctor has to specify do not feel with Aurobindo Because I’m pretty sure those are fake, and no matter how many times I tell the pharmacy I will not take those, sometimes they slip one in and then I’m stuck with fake meds for a month until I can fill a new one.
Re: PaRPh (# 2)
Venlafaxine is the generic name for Effexor XR.
Re: Sleepy (# 6)
Pain management doctors do not test for drugs you are prescribed. Unless of course it is the pain medication you are prescribed
Re: fromnyc (# 1)
I, too, filled Adderall generic brand in the fall I filled it at cvs asper my insurance coverage and it worked well for me; I was written a 90 day supply by my doctor. In May, when I needed more my doctor wrote a 90 day script and I filled it at MY CVS, I say my CVS because I've been using it for years and as an RN I know you can't jump around pharmacies with controlled substances. CVS filled my script, I took the medication not realizing it was a different manufacturer. I did NOT have the same affect. It was so awful I brought the full bottle to my doctors office. They gave me a script with the name of the first manufacturer saying ONLY this brand but nobody would fill it because I had JUST filled the 90 day adderall, the awful one, and didn't believe or didn't care that I gave it to my doctor. These pharmacies NEED to be consistent with their drug brands. When I asked the pharmacist, I was told, "We give you what's delivered to us." So, for three months I am WITHOUT medication that my doctor thinks will be very helpful and WAS very helpful to me. SHAME ON YOU CVS!
Re: Lili (# 15)
If your doctor writes you a prescription for a different strength there should not be any problems with filling it.
Did you give the bottle of Adderall you could not take to your doctor? If you did, your doctor can call the pharmacist and tell him he has the first prescription and why. I doubt your insurance will pay for another prescription this soon. But your doctor can call them and tell them the same thing he told the pharmacist and they might pay for it.
Pharmacies do not have any control over which manufacturers they receive drugs from. The suppliers deals with that.
