I agree these pills suck, im in a wheelchair with neuropathic pain and while the old oc didn't take that pain away it made the pain a little more bearable. They should bring the old ones back we need them, I've been on them for about ten years now and not once have i crushed them or cut them. It's the des fault they're gone they prescribe them like candy they need to be strict on who they write the scripts to, someone twists there pinky and they get 80 MG oxys please dumbass docs. Blame the drs.

Look beyond those who are here complaining of not getting high as I am a paraplegic for 18 years and use these to great benefit. So, before you tell me what I should or should not do, look in the mirror. The biggest problem Perdu has are all those going to heroin or some other drug that will kill them. Ultimately Purdu will bring these back as their balance sheets show a drop in sales. They dont care who is taking or how they are using if nobody brings up another history breaking lawsuit - or we'd still be where we were a year ago. $600 million is a lot to pay out but not as much as they will loose with this new formula. Take my word, private or not Wall Street will change their ideas. It was short lived and a nice attempt to appease those who lost loved ones due to OD's but perhaps the parents should have been clued in.I want parents to stand up and say I know my child is drug free with confidence every day. Know their friends, where they hang out, what they are doing, their interest, EVERYTHING about your child!

Oh yeah i also no longer take opiates because I have medicine that works for me know. but I am still very very sorry for what I was doing. I hope that this greedy faceless corporation actually starts listening to the REAL VICTIMS of what seems to be a bunch of DO GOODERS regulating peoples pain.

I have been on Oxycontin for 11 years after I broke my neck at work (I was a medic) I am on a low dose 20mg BID since starting the OP's I have once again been in more pain then I can really handle. It are kids and junkies that want that HIGH that have ruiined it for the rest of us that take it as prescribed. Purdue is afraid for lawsuits they will get would a kid die from snorting it so lets just change the formula and the hell with the people that we origionally made it for that are taking for severe pain. I still get shots once every three months and see the doc once a month. Last month I thought the pain was due to the fact that I needed a shot but I just had a shot this month and the meds are NOT working. Wake up purdue and give us back our pain relieve!!!!!!!!

I am prescribed oxy 10's for chronic back spasms. I just started getting the OP10's. They give me migraines, and I've never experienced headaches that intense in my entire life.
The pain relief takes about 4 hours to settle in (an eternity when you're having an excruciating spasm).
I just don't know what to do..very sad about this.

Addictionisinsanity, I have a bone to pick with you, who are you to assume everyone here is a junkie, I go out looking for a forum to vent about this new medication and I get to read your generalized statement labeling us all as addicts. Oxycontin provided me quality of life I could have never had without it, I had 3 back surgeries starting in 2004, the last in 2009, I have degerative disk disease that started when I was 23, while taking Oxcontin OC I was able to work (up until my spine had to be fused). Now I cant walk any distance and I'm back to using a cane. All because a some addicts took pills not prescribed to them to get hight they knew what they were doing and it is their fault not mine not the other millions of pain sufferers and not Perdue's. The parents out there targeting Perdue are only trying to excuse their own failures.

okay I just spoke to purdue at the same # I have had not only GI trouble, but a strange way has come about me. My family and friends say I l;ook Off/ different. I do I looked at a pic of myself taken recently, I have also had tremors, shaking hands and uncontrollable involuntary crying as well. I have a whole slew of infirmities, but the mental breakdown cra started the same time as the new reformulated was introduced, I wake up out of dead sleep IF I SEEP sobbing for no reason, I expressed all of this to purdue's med dept and because I have all kinds of allergies to even dyes and fillers in vitamins etc I am considering switching to opana when I see my doc this month. I am scared it will not e as strong and hit the pain. Is there a comperable dosing between oxycntin- I take alot- and the opana? I dn't want to waste my time getting a prior auth with my medicare for the year and switch after 11 years on this oxycontin if it will not be as effective. Any one out there help. I am writhing in pain and shocked at the intense mental experience that just appeared around the same time I started taking the new formua. I know I am not imagining this. BTW I am a very tough cookie and can go through alot it is not my nature to be this way. I crty all the time shaking hands, upper Gi issues takes forever for the med to start working and it stops working 3-4 hours too soon, Help. Oxy vs Opana. Please answer. Bless us all. Ps mad respect to the former junkie who apologized- it's brave to do even on a computer screen in this climate here. Thanks for letting me share.please reply.

After countless hours of net-research, I can say, without question, this is the best post I've encountered.
"SWIM" deserves our praise for the guide excellent guide provided.

All information, with the exception of the final procedure (I can't confirm the final section regarding IV administration), is accurate* ,well written, and contrary to the remarks of many of "SWIMS" critics, well-intended.

"SWIM's" intentions are clear from his ("SWIM" identifies himself as a male) opening statement—he does not judge those who chose to use pharmaceutical medication—any medication—on one's own terms; referencing the fact that while, according to him, "we," that is, society overall, has tried "to stop druguse foover [sic] a century," ultimately people will do what they wish. Hence abuse is inevitable. But he doesn't end there—addressing the overall intentions of those participating in the thread, the advice given is meant to overcome a barrier imposed on ALL users, addict or not. In other words, if you want to experience the therapeutic effects of the original formulation, the guide he provides, when followed correctly, enables one to achieve precisely this goal: Instant release Oxycontin.

*"SWIM" was unable to confirm with certainty whether administration via insufflation was definitely possible—I'll just add that in fact, it is.

yes when i get my op's which i will eventually..i will hope for the best and be the one they don't make sick. Because am tired of struggling with painful conditions and trying eerything under the sun to deal with pain. However should the new op's make me ill..i WILL go after purdue with a vengence and sue them for all their worth. I have never in my life sued anyone..but at 62 am tired of being a test rat. If i lose a kidney because of the BHT ..my family will live comfortably after i'm gone. Its time to hold those who make life/death descisions to accountability. Also am sick over the corrutption purdue practices. On their website they claimed only those who complain of side effects are abusers. What a s--tload of crock. Although there is some truth in that statement..there is MORE deception than truth.

Everyone, medically dependent or junkie, needs to shut up. We just need answers, not 2,000 posts from people actually prescribed this s*** who are high out there damn mind thinking that talking s*** on a forum to junkies is gonna accomplish ANYTHING. This causes the offended junkies to fire back and then the forum entitled "Easiest way to remove new oxycontin OP coating" becomes some stupid argument. Anyone who talks s*** on a forum to people they don't know/can't see/will never meet must be high. Everyone shut up and get serious. Lets just get to the bottom of this situation so people (who are gonna do the s*** one way or the other) can get high safely. What if someone was really jonesin and they needed a real non-smart-ass answer for getting high with these new pills, didn't get one, and shot up some gel because they were freakin out..........and died. All your ivory tower high horse bulls*** did was kill someone. Lets just act like adults; adults who need to get relief safely. If you're medically dependent your an addict, and if your a junkie you're an addict. Anyone else is recreational I suppose. Either way we all want to take these new oxy's safely.......bottom line. Be honest and be truthful. Didn't your momma ever teach you "if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all"? If you see a question and you can help.......then help. Otherwise you need to shut your f***ing mouth.

I'm taking the new ones and can't stay awake. I'm in stage 3 of the lungs. I've been successful getting the old ones by asking for generic, and according to my pharmacist, the old stockpile is classified as (generic) until they run out. I'm still getting mine. Hope this helps for those of you who are terminal or medically required to take these Meds. Good luck!

Just ask to be put on the oxy IR's (instant release). I had to switch from oxy OP 80's to oxy IR 30's (roxicodone) 5 times a day. I'm dying from cancer and it works great. If you need something a little stronger ask about opana (oxymorphone... very strong). they make IR 5s and 10s, and several strengths in ER. I take ER 30's as well as IR 5s for chronic breakthrough pain. An IR 5 works as well as a old OC 80. good luck and god bless. email me if you have any other questions.

METHOD FOR DEFEATING, THEN SNORTING THE NEW OP'S:

everyone, i have been doing this now for about 7 months and I have totally mastered this!!

you need a 1) pair of pliers, 2) A Callous Remover From Walgreen's; 3) Microwaveable Plate 4) Microwave 5) Freezer

HERE IS HOW YOU SEPARATE THE NEW POLYMER from THE OXYCODONE....

1) Grab your 80mg OP w/the pliers (regular pliers are fine)
2) begin scraping the pill against the callous remover, until you have a fine powder..(Believe me it grinds the op's into a nice snortable powder)
3) with the powder on your plate, make a nice even circle w/the powder..(The reason you make a wide circle is because microwaves cook from the center then outwards) you will have no powder in the middle of your circle, you dont want powder in the middle of the plate or it will not cook evenly..
4) place you **Microwaveable plate in the micro for 7-10 minutes (depends on the power of your microwave; mine is about 8.5 min.)
5) Cook until finished, (if the powder starts to turn from white to brown IMMEDIATELY TAKE THE PLATE OUT) its ok if there is a little bit of brown color, but you wont lose as much if you cook the powder just before it begins to turn brown...
6) IMMEDIATELY take out of Micro and place in the freezer for 7-9 minutes or until plate is cold...make sure you freeze until the powder is dry OR IT WILL CLUMP UP ON YOU.
7) take out of the freezer, scrape off the powder with a credit card onto another plate or hard surface..
8) Snort!!

The microwave process burns off the polymers at a lower temp. than the oxycodone therefore, if you cook away the polymers you are left with just oxycodone! IT WORKS I HAVE BEEN DOING IT FOR 6 MONTHS....no longer will you get clumpy gelatinous ooze in your nose if you do it correctly you are home free!! I actually love it bec. the OP's cost only $15 in San Fran. so this has saved me thousands of dollars!! email me for any questions.

For future reference when oxycontin is used as prescribed there are NO long term side effects. It doesn't harm your liver, kidneys, or stomach. Please stop scaring people by telling them they are going to die. You obviously need to do more homework before telling suffering people to stop taking something you know nothing about.

I completely agree with you...yes, some people abuse them & from what I know opiates build up a high tolerance very fast. BUT there are MANY people out there that have legitimate chronic pain and I hate people who say everyone is a druggie like the poster above you. I have had 2 back surgeries, and 4 years later not only have my discs reherniated but I have 3 more bad discs, I've been to multiple dr's and was told the damage is so bad I have to live with it the test of my life. I also Suffer from chronic lyme disease...my specialists answer" let's put in a morphine pump" I think people who's only comment is " ur all druggies" makes me want to have them suffer the pain others to through. I have 3 children and without my pain management regime I wouldn't be able to do all the things I want to do with them to. It's ignorant people that make a bad name for.the people who are really in pain and need medication to have a productive life. Thank you to all who are just trying to live a life and not just looking to get high and people who make ignorant comments should find another cause to.complain about

Thanks. I am a recreational user, but trying to find the bigger faster way is silly. Purdue will just keep experimenting until this med is useless to those who need it. I say, When your pain is managable, you have your answer. And @ you tools that say stop drugs and life will be a jaunty skip through the wood, go to a cancer support group. Tell them that They don't need these drugs. Their mind numbing, muscle rending pain can be relieved with f***ing unicorns and glitter.
Good on ya mate

Why you pompous arrogant SOB. How dare you presume to know what is best for someone else. It's because of jacAssez like you my wife can no longer get the pain relief she needs. Somewhere someone just like you decided they would step up, be a "Hero" and save all the people they think need/want your misguided ignorant help. Because people like you I have to watch day after day as my wife sobs and cries from the time she wakes till she cries herself to sleep again. She wants die from the nerve pain she is left with from an incomplete compression. And with every "doctor" in the Tucson area refusing to treat her pain I get to watch her spiral from actively going about a new life in a chair designed to make her condition worse to her legs holding her hostages in bed. I don't know how much longer she will last at this point due to the lack of treatment and failures and refusals to provide her with the care she needs. Why? Because someone thought it would be better to restrict pain meds instead of doing their damn jobs and catching the abusers. Someone just like you.

I got shot two years ago and just had my second nerve graft done. If your in bad neuropathic pain I would recomend gabapentin. I take that with fentanyl patches, oxycodone, and tizanadine for spasms. The gabapentin is an amazing med for nerve pain.
And please people, don't abuse the oxy! I have a script that I weaned myself off of because the gabapentin worked for the pain. The trouble with purdue switching to the op formula is caused by a mix of people abusing the oc's and docs writing scripts to anyone who has even the slightest injury. If your in bad pain, get fentanyl patches. Don't self medicate by trying to get rid of the op coating.... It could kill you or at the very least, make you sick as hell! Good luck.
Cheers!
Brad
