Duloxetine 60 Mg

Updated

I have been taking Teva Duloxetine 60 mg everyday since 2008 for fibromyalgia. My last refill my pharmacy switched manufactures to Solco. They said same thing. IT WAS NOT! My fibromyalgia is worse and I am dizzy and can hardly walk. I feel like I am going through withdrawal. Pharmacist is changing me back. Solco didn't seem like it was the same strength and may be since the capsules were a lot smaller!

Was this through Walgreen's? Was told the same when picking up my sister's 30mg prescription yesterday and saw that the pills were different. She didn't start taking the pills yet bcuz she still has 3 of the Teva brand left over. I'm afraid they won't take them back if there is a problem once she begins taking the new brand. The pills were like $400. Manufacturer appears to be in China? Teva I believe is Isreal.

My sister had a serious wd problem when she was hospitalized a month ago and the Drs removed Cymbalta from her medication list cold turkey. Brain zaps, which they didn't know existed, debilitated her. Not something we need to experience again. She takes this medication for arthritis, and wish she never started taking it. Difficult to WD from.

Walgreens took the meds back and replaced them with Teva. After I have been on Teva for a few days I feel so much better!

Barbara, that is amazing and I am so very glad they helped you! Once tablets have left the pharmacy, they are not legally obligated to take them back, and if they do, they must dispose of them, they cannot sell them to another person, due to the risk of tampering, or contamination. Thus, you must have had a very nice pharmacist, because they definitely took a loss on those.

What were the markings on this brand?

The FDA lists this medication as causing side effects, such as nausea, headache, dry mouth, dizziness, mood changes, and weight changes.

Chris, when I quit a similar medication, years ago, the brain zaps were horrible!!! How is she doing, now?

I just noticed that the Duloxetine refill I picked up yesterday from Walgreens was changed from the Teva to Solco brand. I just started taking 20mg/2x day mostly for neuropathy pain, but with pain comes depression and anxiety, so I'm looking forward to that fog lifting, as I'm also reducing my Rx for Gabapentin. I prefer to keep using the same brand of any Rx, and I'm especially not a fan of things made in China, so after reading this post, I called Walgreens, and I talked to a very nice pharmacist who called me back to say I can return my Solco brand and they'll replace it with the Teva brand. However, since it won't be ready to pick up until Monday, I'll have to take four days' worth of the Solco pills till then. Stay tuned, and I'll see how it goes... :-)

Hi I was interested to see someone is having the same problem with the solco duloxetine. I just received the new prescription and the change in manufacture to solco. I immediately have found my pain is increased, my mood is worse and I’m having insomnia. These are all signs that these capsules aren’t working. I talked to the pharmacist who said I need to give them more time but I’ve been on duloxetine nearly two years. They gave me three months worth and my insurance would not be willing to cover another prescription. Frustrating!!

Duloxetine 60mg extended release has been filled 3 different months by walgreens. All I can say is it is not right. The first month I thought it was me, but after that I realized each month I started taking this drug mfg by Solco, I go through withdrawals and my family will tell you it is not working. My mom has had the same problem. This needs to be researched. I have the last one with the lot # on it. I also have switched pharmacies so that I am guaranteed not to get this brand. I hope to hear from you. My next step will be the FDA. Thanks.

OMG! I had the same problem. My pain came rushing back within 1 day of taking the switched med! I was also dizzy as well. The pain felt like nerves being squashed between 2 bones and the bones rubbing together. I would get dizzy just walking, or turning quickly! My pharmacy ordered the Teva brand and I paid out of pocket for them since insurance had already covered the original refill. Within a few days of starting back on Teva things are now back to normal and I have no pain!

I just found this thread, my wife is on Duloxetine from Walgreens. Un-noticed by us, they switched her from Teva to Solco and she immediately started having an itchy allergic reaction all over her body. She quit it after 3 days and the itching immediately subsided. Walgreens agreed to switch her back to Teva BUT ***here's the BAD news >>> they told us today that they will NO LONGER be getting the Teva-made Duloxetine, that Teva either is no longer making it or Walgreens Co. is no longer getting it. We'll be checking options over the next month, but right now it looks like we'll be getting a doctor's script for brand name Cymbalta and "dispense as written".

I was recently switched via Walgreens to the Solco duloxetine. That was fine. Until I started feeling generally horrible. I also have moderate unexplained dizziness and brain zaps which I have only experienced twice before when weaning off SSRI ot changing meds. This should not be happening. I am
Glad to see I am not the only
One. Will call Walgreens tomorrow.

Re: Ted (# 10) Expand Referenced Message

The company that makes Teva Has been bought out and they were no longer making it I’ve tried different pharmacies and that’s what I found out.

The EXACT same thing happened to me, mine were changed to a company called Torrent Pharmaceuticals in India. I started going through withdrawals. It got really bad, but then i got a script for non-generic cymbalta and it's like it never happened. I will NEVER use a pill made by Torrent or any indian or chinese company. There is shady stuff going on in the testing of these, and they are not being done by the FDA

Listen up people, I'm just leaving Walgreens...please just go and explain to the pharmacist at a not so busy time, they will rectify the situation. Make sure you take your bottle and pills you have left and let them know it's Solco brand that sucks so we can get that generic brand out of here before it starts hurting more people. I'm sure some people don't even know what's going on with them. I've been taking 20mgs cymbalta over 12 years, I know when something isn't right. If this brand is actually generic cymbalta it's a very minimal amount. I did some research on the new mfg and their website says way more about their sales, growth and leadership than the consumer or their medications they make, like a big advertisement, very cheesy. Go explain your symptoms & get what works immediately, no need to drag it out.

Met with the Walgreens pharmacist today, the brand-name Cymbalta of course is much more expensive and our insurance company requires a $20 co-pay if there's a generic available. We are going to try the other manufacturer that Walgreens carries, Actavis (Actavis Elizabeth), for just a trial period of 5 days to see if it works, will be doing that in about 2 weeks and will post results here.

I went to Walgreens and asked them to switch me back to Teva manufactured Duloxetine, and the pharmacist ordered it with no problem. After a week I felt so much better!

I went to Walgreens and asked them to switch me back to Teva manufactured Duloxetine, and the pharmacist ordered it with no problem. After a week I felt so much better! The Solco duloxetine was so awful, I actually opened my capsules one day to see if they even had any medication in them. Horrible withdrawal symptoms with the Solco.
Thank goodness I am back on the Teva. Good luck!

Well my wife tried the Activis-manufactured Duloxetine for 5 days, no allergic symptoms but she had trouble sleeping as her legs ached (she has chronic pain besides depression), AND more importantly her depression symptoms started coming back (e.g. feeling "angry" or short-tempered over minor inconveniences). She had 4 Tevas in reserve and switched back to them and felt better after only one day, but that's the END of the Teva.
We picked up her brand-name Cymbalta yesterday, yes it costs more but we're so blessed to be able to afford it.
Other pharmacies carry Duloxetine made by Prasco and Breckenridge, but we're sticking with Cymbalta...it always works. Good luck to all!

Don't know what is in SOLCO capsules (if anything) but they just don't work. Went back to TEVA 60 mg and all is well.

My pharmacy has been supplying me with duloxetine 60mg from TEVA for about the last 3 years. I have been on duloxetine for about 10 years or more. Never have I had a problem with a generic until the pharmacy filled my rx with duloxetine from SOLCO. It did not help me. SOLCO is not the same.

Depression slowly crept up on me. I wondered why I was getting headaches. I returned from a short trip to the UK, and I thought the fatigue and bad feelings were jet lag. I was not sleeping well as usual.

I switched back to TEVA and Voila! I woke up the next morning refreshed from sleep. And I noticed my finger arthritis was better (an unexpected good side effect). And slowly got my mental health back to normal.

Who do I yell at? If TEVA is out of business, how will I go about experimenting to get the generic that works for me without wasting the Dr's time and worrying about insurance?? Makes me angry.

As I noted below, there are at least two more manufacturers of Duloxetine, Prasco and Breckenridge. My suggestion, check all your surrounding pharmacies and find out what the manufacturer is of their Duloxetine supplier, make an appt. with your doctor to explain the situation and try to get him to agree to prescribing a (some) trial(s) of the different manufacturers, say maybe 5 to seven days of each, while you still have your supply of stuff that works. You'll probably need to talk to a live human being at the insurance company as well to explain to them. Good luck!
