Drug Interactions With Soma

what drugs are compatable with soma ? I have been told not to take tramadol with it , What about lyrica?

I didn't find any interactions listed between Soma and Lyrica, but it's always best to double check such information to be sure. The main issue is that Soma has an effect on serotonin levels in the brain, so it may be dangerous to combine it with other medications that also have an effect on it, such as Tramadol, because it creates the risk of Serotonin Syndrome, which could be fatal.

Lyrica, however, does not affect serotonin, it works on different brain chemicals.

Sorry to have to disagree with you on this simply bc i have serotonin syndrome bc i was on cymbalta, which mind you, was the 1st med then added lyrica. Lyrica does affect the serotonin levels in ur brain, just like any ssr/ssir. There's not a lot of info like we need about the med Lyrica but us as consumers find out the worst & if able, meaning it didn't kill us, we then report it. But Lyrica has caused a very miserable 2wks & the damage its done may not be reversible. FYI, see lyrica drug interactions. you can also google it. Sorry to have interrupted ur convo no matter how old this post is, EVERYBODY NEEDS TO GOOGLE the legal case filed in 09 by the FDA against phi-er pharmaceutical the maker of lyrca; won trillions over trillions of dollars. But US AS CONSUMERS AGAIN WILL PAY THE ULTIMATE PRICE WITH OUR HEALTH.. I hope everyone that reads this hasn't been thru interactions & has caught the info on mixing lyrica...actually i hope nobody gets on it. Lol. Thanks & GODBLESS!

I'm so glad that I read your post on lyrica sufferinbc...... I just re-established with a new primary Dr and he really tries to push lyrica for chronic pain, on his patients. I haven't tried it and I definitely won't now. Besides I take other meds also including plavix. Ty for the info.

You are misinformed. Soma does NOT effect seratonin levels. It does, however, effect the CNS system, so caution must be used when using together with opiods, such as Tramadol. Tramadol does, in fact, effect the neurotransmitters seratonin, dopamine and norepenephrine. While this might be a problem being co-prescribed with Lyrica, it is not a problem being co-prescribe with Tramadol. In fact Tramadol is quite often co-prescribed with Soma for painful injuries, as it is one of the safer opiod drugs (though all opiods hold a risk of addiction. Hope that helps.
