The pill in description is Allopurinol (300 mg).

Allopurinol is a drug used primarily to treat hyperuricemia (excess uric acid in blood plasma) and its complications, including chronic gout.

Hi Bob,

This is a common situation where you receive a different looking pill than what you've been used to getting. My assumption is that the newer pills you received are manufactured or distributed by another company.

The Manufacturer of this pill in question (marked: M 71) is Mylan Pharmaceuticals Inc.
I'm not sure who the manufacturer of the other peach colored Allopurinol is, but if you find out I can try to look them up and provide you with more pill information. Do you perhaps know the markings on the peach colored pill?

Another possibility is that the peach colored pills were discontinued and the white round pill is their new look.
Manufacturers don't really give out written notices when they change the physical appearance of the pill, so most patients are surprised to see something different than the norm. In any case, if there is a difference between the two pills, other than the physical aspect, It would pertain to the dosage and any inactive ingredients. The only way to know for sure is to pay to have the peach pill lab tested somewhere (if in fact there are no other ways to identify it).
