Drinking On Lexapro (Page 8) (Top voted first)

I was just wondering if anyone has drank with this med and were there any side effects? I've been on lexapro 10 mg for a month and am feeling great but I am petrified to even attempt to drink alcohol, but would like to try. So if anyone could help that would be great.

I have been on Lexapro for about a week and last night I had a few beers and threw up violently which I’ve never done before from beer. Don’t know if it’s the med or not but sure wasn’t fun.

This for me is not true. I've been 20 my for 3 months, next month for the 1st 2 weeks is my last down to 10mg. I drank atleast a cup a day, and on the weekends a little more. So it depends on you, your body.

I have been on 20mg Lexapro for 3 months now. I was not drinking at first but have been regularly for the last month. I seem to think the Lexapro reduces the effects of alcohol and I can keep drinking all night and into the early hours of the morning and I never get tired or anxious from the alcohol. I am a 28 year old male.

you think not , think again , your med don't wont mixed with alcohol in your favour . if it did why take meds just get HAMMERED

Lexapro is a depression meds with a weak anti anxiety meds added . its not a anxiety med on its own.

I will drink a beer or Margarita. Maybe once a month. I don't take my med that day. I've been doing for like a year.. Yeah just don't overdo it.

Been on this for 10 days. Drink wine or an occasional margarita. I now get no buzz from it at all. Plus either way I don't sleep. I'm wired. Miss being able to sleep. Sounds to me as though it's a very individual thing. My doc said its fine to have a drink with this kind of med.

Sometimes it feels like my brain stem is on fire. Is that what you're talking about? If so, I've talked to a few people and read on other forums that this isn't entirely uncommon so I wouldn't worry to much about it.

every time I drink on it I get extremely sick and am up all night and even blank out. I don't recommend it it's not worth the pain

go to mental hospital and say I am drinking on my meds doc , he will say follow the sign that says EXIT

Blacking out after consuming alcohol is an indication you suffer from a true allergic reaction to ethanol ALCOHOL. Despite the presence of lexapro. Most will say it's a precursor to alcoholism but if you blackout after a consumption of a alcoholic beverage pre dating your lexapro administration I'd speak to a skilled professional. The complications to you, your loved ones and the community at large can be catastrophic. I lost my best friend, his wife and 3 children to a fire when a friend had a psychotic episode following 1 mixed alcoholic beverage, Dx: ethanol allergy

2-3 wines in a day? Why do you need 2-3 wines a day, are you an alcoholic? Plus, you don't say if it's a large glass, small, or bottle, so I assume large glass. Your meds are not working, they're interacting with the booze. You just feel sleepy, no wonder you have bad days. Get a grip of your drinking or ditch the meds.

yeah, that has been happening to me as well. i had a panic attack this morning and all i have had to drink was one shot, i felt faint last night and it was really scary.

I've been on Lexopro for 2 wks now and I drink socially and I fainted at the bottom of my stairway, so I wouldn't drink.......hell I'm scared to drink now.

I took lexapro 10mg for 13 days only, I stopped cause of side effects and decided I would rather deal with my anxiety than the side effects. Its has been 5 days now and I feel normal again. I want to know when it is ok to drink a few beers? I have read 2 weeks but seeing I was only on it for 13 days do I really have to wait that long?

I would try only 3 drinks at first and see how you feel! When I was on lexapro I nearly had all the side effects blood in my stool pupils wide head pains shocks passing coffee grounds type some type of delirium mild tired anxiety muscle pain could not sleep ! And more effects I just got off them god bless !
