Doxycycline Hyclate 100 Mgs

This drug doesn't seem to be available at any dose. Have they stopped making it? I take it for rosacea...

Hi lynn,

According to The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists: As of December 10, 2012, there has been a shortage in Doxycycline Capsules and Tablets, mainly due to supply and demand (with a lack of raw materials).

Unfortunately, it seems as though no one really knows when they will be restocking the supply.

I have been told that this is a global problem! I finally found some generic doxycycline at a local pharmacy. All the other pharmacies were out and had no idea when they would get more. One pharmacist told me he thought it was not the lack of raw materials but more of greed... there is much more money to be made in brand name drugs (Oracea) than in generics so the drug companies stop making generic doxycycline! We may never see it again. Have you seen how much Oracea costs? Over $500 a perscription! And the Oracea savings card doesn't work like it used to. At the very least you will pay over $100.

I own a pharmacy. It is true that there is a shortage of doxycycline in the marketplace right now. I have a bunch of it in stock. I was able to get it before it went into short supply. The makers of the drug have increased the price by a multiple of 25 though! It is much more expensive than it is was just a couple of months ago.

My dog has an auto-immune disorder & takes doxycycline. When I went to the vet today, I was told they will not be stocking it until the price stabilizes. I went to my local pharmacy for a price & then started shopping online. I have a followup with the vet tomorrow to review his bloodwork and will give them the information I found to hopefully help other people.

Oh it's back in stock ... that's for sure! It now costs over $4.00 per tablet or capsule! The companies that make Doxycycline have raised the price by about 10,000%! UNREAL!

Yesterday I renewed my prescription at my Walmart pharmacy. For the past several months it has been $10 for 60 capsules. This time, I was going to be charged $220! Needless to say I did not take the prescription. Shame on who ever manufactures this stuff for ripping off patients - guess I'll just live with rocasea.

I also take doxycycline for rosacea, my dermatologist thinks it is best for me, it seems to control the flair ups and probs with my eyes, she prescribed something else for now and it reaaly doesn't work as well, drug companies are supposed to help not hinder!!!

Prices have not gotten any better folks, and I have no reason to believe they will. I am a pharmacist and know that generally speaking the Doxycycline 100mg capsules or tablets will be costing you folks $4.00 a pill or more. Hopefully most of you (human patients that is!) have insurance to cover the costs. Most of my patients have noticed little difference in price because their insurance cards have a set copay for generics (e.g. $10.00 per rx).

Back in October 2012 and earlier Doxycycline 100mg would have cost about between $4.00 and $12.00 for an rx of 20 pills. Then in November the price went up to about $1.25 to $1.50 a pill. The manufacturers raised the price two different times.

I take Doxycycline for Rosacea as well and had stocked up until today. My wife called and told me the refill cost and I almost had a heart attack! The company that manufactures my Doxy is West-Ward Pharmaceutical Group and their phone number for customer service is 800-631-2174. I say we all call them and tell them what we think of their greed!!!

No...there is no signs of relief and to be honest I do not expect any. Doxycyline tablets and capsules went up in price at the same time. As I had said before, you used to be able to get 20 capsules or tablets for say $8 to maybe $15 depending on pharmacy chosen. Doxycycline used to be on the "free antibiotic" lists at many grocery store chains! Not any more! I would say the best price you would find now would be somewhere around $75.00 for 20 capsules or tablets. I will say that many many generic products have gone through the roof recently. I do not think a week goes by that something does not go way up.

Hi. I've got 100mg of doxycycline for a chest infection. This is my second day of taking the tablets. How long will it take to start clearing the infection because I'm sick of coughing? I know it's still in the early days but just wanted to know.

I had a bee sting that swelled up over 9 inches across with a red ring around it. The Dr gave me a steroid shot and prescribed 1 week of doxycycline and cephalexin. I only have 4 pills left of each, but I am experiencing some diarrhea and stomach pain (probably from the doxycycline). The swelling and redness is completely gone, but I still have a tiny bit of itchiness around the sting area. Can I stop taking the doxycycline and just finish out the cephalexin?

I picked this medicine up at 4:00 for cellulitis and I am taking Advil 800 and Tylenol in between, along with Valacyclovir for shingles. May I take the 2nd dose of Doxycycline at midnight (4 hours early) to get on a better schedule? Also, how soon will it help?

I did call them and if nothing else, took up some of their time which will likely just come up as another price increase, unfortunately for some people the price increase counts, for some with either, good group insurance (which is costly,no matter who foots what percentage of the bill) the cost is reflected in consumer costs,, or social (government insurance of many types) the cost is reflected in taxation, if all persons were under a self-pay, there would be much more competitive pricing and costs would come down, simple economics
