Does Anyone Taking Lyrica Have Memory Loss? (Page 7)

I have been on Lyrica for about 8 months now and I am having fantastic results. My dr is trying to increase my dosage and I have been doing it in 50 mg increments. I am up 100 more now in a month, for a total dosage of 400mg. I find that I have very bad recall and loss of my vocabulary during conversation. It eventually goes away, but I was wondering if anyone else has this? If it keeps up, I just may have to drop back down 50mg until I get used to it? That seemed to work that last time I had to raise it.BTW, I have nerve pain in my ribcage. (not caused by shingles)
Who told you that Carisoprodol (Soma) was banned? I get 90 pills a month and I have another script with 5 refills ready to go for when I run out in 2 weeks. I last filled a script 2 weeks ago. It's not a banned drug, I've checked, my Dr. asked me who told me that and I was embarrassed to say I read it online, lol. Maybe your doctor has chosen to ban writing scripts for it but it's not a banned drug.
I've been on lyrica for four years. l do have memory issues, cognitive problems trouble remembering things, confusion. It has helped with pain as I suffer with severe diabetic neuropathy from my knees all the way to my toes. My Dr has changed the mgs from 100, 75, 50 & 25 now I'm back to 75. It has crazy side effects but nothing else helped me so I'm stuck and may loose my job who knows. This is my life now.
There is no way I can get off of lyrica. Although I grasp for words (realized it is only nouns (both improper and proper) and I have had weight gain and swelling,it allows me to lead a normal life. (I have trigeminal neuralgia)
Thank you for your message I too have been on lyrica for terrible Fibro pain for years. I have trouble w/ word recall and it affects my memory. I cannot come off it I've tried over and over because my pain is so terrible. I also take toprimate for migraines. I know it affects my memory too. Thank you for your post. It's embarrassing to be mid conversation and I can't recall names or words.
I believe DHA would help regenerate brain damage from Lyrica. I've decreased my Lyrica by 50% and have been on DHA (Fish Oil is DHA and EPA fat the brain must have to be healthy but it needs more DHA than EPA), and I'm slowly seeing great improvements. I'm reading a dictionary and encyclopedia is renew my brain memory database. I also do math in my head.
I have good news! I have been on Lyrica 4 years. Same dose you are on. But I didn't have pain control. I kept reading/searching on Fibro sites for something better and recently read about Low Dose Naltrexone. My doctor agreed to let me try it 10 days ago. Bedtime. 1.5 Mgs. I am ecstatic to report that it prevents the awful migraines and body aches I was having and it helps me sleep. If it causes you too much grogginess, you can take half dose. It has to be compounded at a compounding pharmacy. Is an old medication so not expensive at all.
I am on lyrica, 75mg @ night, 50mg by day for dreadful pain head to foot. I am seeing some benefit but my pain is still certainly there. I also take painkillers, & amitriptyline. I too, am suffering memory loss. Twice losing my keys while walking my dogs. Some days are worse than others. After reading your stories, I wonder, but what else can we do? Had pain for past 30 years, tried everything alternative meds, prescription meds, etc. Any advice out there would be welcome.
Words are my thing, but it is so frustrating when one eludes me and that happens all of the time with lyrica.
Hi. I take Topamax 200 mg per day. I was told and have found that it actually is responsible for the same effects. I hope you don't experience this. It is so frustrating! I am given this for migraine prevention, however, and have found that the trade off is well worth the side effects.
Sounds pretty similar to me. I still have some pain but its so much better off Lyrica. I had urinary issues and the brain process issues. My feet kill me, but that's due to bone spurs as I fell quite often, waiting for surgery.
I have to say that the commercial with the teacher using Lyrica is very Scarry. I never drove on the medicine much less be responsible for 20 kids.
Apologies to the Republicans in the US for my last post, but in my opinion the last credible President representing that party was Abraham Lincoln...
Lyrica or any of the generic pregabalin (not a single one of which is worth using they are so poor - it is expensive and I suggest getting the brandname from India. It is one of only around 6 drugs made or marketed by Pfizer in that country and though extremely expensive for India it is peanuts co pared to the West).
Personally I woyld never touch it having been given it for my lumbar pain after carisoprodol was banned almost worldwide (India again but quality poor compared with the best in the world, the high priced Finadiet LISTAFLEX 350 from Argentina, who no longer allow export of medicines). Ataxia, amnesia, feeling and acting drunk although TT - it is simply a horrible drug with too many debilitating side effects and what's more is not even effective for the condition it was prescribed for in place of now-banned Carisoma.
Hi,
I was in Lyrica for a year, got up to 200 mg three times a day. My symptoms were horrible,I couldn't speak in full sentences. I was /am a 4.0 student. My eyesight got blurry. I had to take my husband with me everywhere,I would forget where I was, what went on, why I was doing what I was doing. The scary part is, my doctor was going to increase the dose even more, against what the pharmaceutical company reccomended. I was suppose to have the worse case of fibro in south Florida. I fired the doctor. I quit cold turkey, don't do it ,its very dangerous. I should have done it under medical supervision. I have to say I had two weeks of the worse withdraw. Here it is 6 months, I have had no meds. I can think somewhat, not 100 percent back to normal. I hurt some, nothing like I did. I can live now. Ithink that when were on meds ,we need to realize what good and what bad are they doing. I wish you luck. There is no way , I'm getting on medicines again where they just keep increasing them. I want to live my life not as a zombie.
I would like to think some one in authority will read about our suffering and make it known to the world .
I agree with all of your comments, except one that does not concern Lyrica and that is politics. Politics does not belong here. Find a blog that does. We are all here to offer our help and a shoulder and to cry on.
For many people, the loss becomes worse with higher doses, and can also become permanent, meaning if you stop, your recall/ memory does not recover. It is a "rock and a hard place" drug.
Absolutely he could be wrong since 50% of MS patients don't have lesions on their brain or they get them much later in their disease. If you have all of the MS symptoms other wise get a 2nd opinion.
Lyrica is frying your brain , many people are never the same after Lyrica ...
I am on 325 Mgs/day. Is anyone have near fainting spells in the first half of the day? Also does anyone have brain burning?
Nick - your post re Democratic Party (USA) is simply wrong and even delusional. That country's two main parties have very little difference policy/economically/business/Foreign Affairs wise but at least they TRY in the face of opposition in Congress from the dumbest and most evil politicians since the days of Stalin and Hitler: Bus***e Republicans. You really are a joke in other countries (President TRUMP? Oh my God that might even BE likee Fascist Germany/Italy!). Here in W Europe we see the only credible candidate with a real 21 Century agenda as Bernie Saunders. He CARES. It is just a pity that once in the White Place he will only take a couple of days to find out he is NOT the 'most powerful leader in the world' but merely another marionette whose strings are being operated by the Bush and Rockefeller families in particular through their minions serving as Republican Senators, Governors and Representatives. Some no doubt unwittingly but we know who REALLY runs the US.
Give the bastards a dose of 1, 200mg Lyrica daily and screw up their brains. Just so the rest of the world can finally stop being interfered with by these pieces of nasty doo-doo who run the US through money and lackeys on the Hill bypassing the democratically elected President! Or should that be a dose of 5 or ten GRAMS of pentobarbital sodium instead? Then we need not worry about them again & you will end up actually being governed by the guy most of you voted for! May Saunders triumph as he is the only credible politician currently in the race and acceptable to the rest of the developed world.
Yes, I encounter that too. Loss and slow in forming words and find it difficult to express myself at times. Weight gain and loss of appetite too.
