Does Anyone Taking Lyrica Have Memory Loss? (Page 4)
(Newest replies first)

I have been on Lyrica for about 8 months now and I am having fantastic results. My dr is trying to increase my dosage and I have been doing it in 50 mg increments. I am up 100 more now in a month, for a total dosage of 400mg. I find that I have very bad recall and loss of my vocabulary during conversation. It eventually goes away, but I was wondering if anyone else has this? If it keeps up, I just may have to drop back down 50mg until I get used to it? That seemed to work that last time I had to raise it.BTW, I have nerve pain in my ribcage. (not caused by shingles)

As you can see by us all, Lyrica is destroying our brain. Legals need to become involved. I'm on 600mg a day and feel as if I'm in mourning for myself and they blame it on depression. How about angry and frustrated more like it. I feel as if I'm hitting a brick wall with doctors and lawyers....neither of them will blame anyone.... causation??? What a load of bull****. All I know is.....i was not this person, so who do you blame? Be careful with the drug. I've been on it for yrs and im wrecked. I'm so dependent on the drug now that I feel f***ed. Only way to describe me.

I've read several mentions of litigation regarding Lyrica. Should anyone start the process I would join in.... Maybe if any attorneys out there are reading these stories, one of them may give it some thought??

I hurt for you having to go through such horrific suffering . As if it isn't bad enough you have medical issues needing attention, and then have to deal with the medicine. No opioids I have ever taken because of my spinal surgeries come even close to the damage Lyrica did to me . I am looking at another back surgery soon as well. Thankfully I have managed to wean off the lyrica completely. Memory loss , body twitching and speech issues was what I got from using lyrica , along with an additional 40lbs . Why in the world this drug would ever be given to a back patient is crazy. I am still on the fentanyl patch 100mcg and am slowly coming off that . After much research I am giving medical cannibis a try . If it's legal in your state , maybe this could be an option for you . It breaks my heart to hear what this drug is doing to people . Hang in there and don't give up ....

Eventually but it takes a few years for your memory to get back to some normality. In my case my memory became so bad my consultant sent me for an mri scan of my brain and it showed that the grey matter had shrivelled and died away as a result of being on Lyrica for seven years or so they said I had a degree of brain injury as a direct result. I stopped the drug and my memory improved over a period of time. I was having seizures, severe memory issues would be in the middle of saying something and would forget what I was saying or ring someone and by the time they answered I would forget who I was calling and why, very scary stuff. Due to my mouth being so dry to the point I found it hard to swallow from lyrica my teeth decayed rapidly and I lost nearly all my teeth and still having problems. This drug is scary and damaging my pain level was unthinkable but I wish I'd never been given this drug it destroyed my life at the time but thankfully I'm much better now but if there is an alternative please consider as it made me very ill I was barely coping with my memory as I couldn't speak a full sentence without forgetting half way through and I think this was the worst not being able to communicate properly. Family found it very hard to have a conversation with me and I just got frustrated and angry. Hate is a strong word but I do hate this drug.

Be VERY VERY CAREFUL with this medicine!!!!I was taking Lyrica for over a year when I began to not only experience memory loss but began to feel as though I may be having a stroke. Finally I went to the E.R. only to be life flighted to a hospital for aneurysms and bleeding in the brain....I KNOW IT WAS LYRICA that caused this. When I told my Dr. he still prescribed it for me. I myself stopped taking it and it was the WORST withdrawals I ever experienced...Still trying to find an attorney to handle this for me...

I've thought about the legal side n but I can't do it on my own. We all need to stick together and do it. I feel destroyed. My brain we as sharp as a scalpel, now it feels dumber than dumb. Get the ball rolling and I'll be there

I thought about that myself......lyrica is a dangerous drug with serious side effects.
The DEA is concerned about opioids for pain -
All the opioids I've used for pain NEVER gave me side effects like lyrica. It is a very dangerous drug .

Hi, I am having memory loss also. I have been on Lyrica 75mg twice daily. I feel much better, can sleep and the nerve pain in my rib cage all around my front and back is much better. I still have to take 2 Aleve in the morning and at night because a bad pain that runs down my left leg to my ankle and burns since I started taking Lyrica and a burning in my mouth and tongue. I have a new doctor I will be seeing in 2 weeks and I will see if there is something else I can try. I have to stay on it until then since I came off all my depression medications and I need meds for it and the Lyrica helped the depression.I don't like the weight problems. Can't loose weight no mater what I give up to eat.

Lyrica is a dangerous drug (my opinion). I am a nurse that had life threatening side effects. Come on people lets get this ball rolling. There needs to be a legal suit.

I have been on lyrica for a few weeks and have noticed that I'm suffering from dizziness, memory loss and confusion. Also at the moment I have had a blood vessel in the eye burst and I wonder if anyone else is suffering from the same symptoms?

I have been on Lyrica for 1 month now, I have noticed that I am having a problem also with my memory. Other people have noticed it and told me. I feel much better and was able to reduce my depression meds some. I still have to take a couple of Aleve for leg and neck pain.

Thank you so much for your reply. I have now been referred to a spinal surgeon as I cannot have any more bilateral facet injections as the original disc damage has caused the above discs to go too. I did have a message pop up recommending another med to replace Lyrica....it began with a T but i cant remember ha. Any ideas? Much appreciated

No. You are taking to many Rx and suffering side effects from them. Have you been evaluated for surgery at an excellent Neurosurgical center? There are many successful methods for spinal surgery that did not even exist 10 years ago. It would not serve a good purpose to take Klonopin and Ambien. They are the same family of drugs, benzodiazepams. They are derivatives of the Valium family I believe. Research will show you how highly addictive Valium was. The Rolling Stones even wrote a song about it, 'Mother's little helper". A whole generation of addicts was created. I was an RN in those years.
Both Ambien and Klonopin are addictive. Side effects include some dangerous ones. Somnambulism, balance issues, etc. People have been known to fall, drive cars disastrously, wander from home etc. See the PDR or drug sites on line.
I urge you to question your Dr. very carefully. Your Lyrica does not seem to be helping you either at your doses. Perhaps a second opinion is warranted?
Wishing you only the best and pryers for your health.

I was taking Lyrica for 7 years and while it helped with Fibromyalgia pain, it definitely rewires the nervous system and brain in an undesirable way. Memory loss, anxiety, sleeping problems, etc. are a big problem. It has taken me six months to taper off the drug and I am currently experiencing lethargy, lack of motivation and anxiety. I would seek IV Ketamine treatments (worked for me) and natural substances or Low Dose Naltrexone with a gluten free diet and meditation, low impact exercise, etc. instead.

I didn't even check the side effects of Lyrica before using them. I had been in so much pain for so long from sciatica that I needed relief. My memory is going to s***, I've gained weight and cannot lose it although I jog and work out regularly. The one thing that worries me most is that I struggle with anxiety and depression. I realized that my anxiety has greatly increased. What is worse is that the depression has become more dark, I have caught myself thinking of death. Thinking how more at peace i would feel if i could just close my eyes and not wake up. So from what I have read, all of this is probably related to my taking Lyrica.
