Does Anyone Taking Lyrica Have Memory Loss? (Page 22) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI have been on Lyrica for about 8 months now and I am having fantastic results. My dr is trying to increase my dosage and I have been doing it in 50 mg increments. I am up 100 more now in a month, for a total dosage of 400mg. I find that I have very bad recall and loss of my vocabulary during conversation. It eventually goes away, but I was wondering if anyone else has this? If it keeps up, I just may have to drop back down 50mg until I get used to it? That seemed to work that last time I had to raise it.BTW, I have nerve pain in my ribcage. (not caused by shingles)
I have been on lyrica for a few weeks and have noticed that I'm suffering from dizziness, memory loss and confusion. Also at the moment I have had a blood vessel in the eye burst and I wonder if anyone else is suffering from the same symptoms?
Hi, I am having memory loss also. I have been on Lyrica 75mg twice daily. I feel much better, can sleep and the nerve pain in my rib cage all around my front and back is much better. I still have to take 2 Aleve in the morning and at night because a bad pain that runs down my left leg to my ankle and burns since I started taking Lyrica and a burning in my mouth and tongue. I have a new doctor I will be seeing in 2 weeks and I will see if there is something else I can try. I have to stay on it until then since I came off all my depression medications and I need meds for it and the Lyrica helped the depression.I don't like the weight problems. Can't loose weight no mater what I give up to eat.
I've thought about the legal side n but I can't do it on my own. We all need to stick together and do it. I feel destroyed. My brain we as sharp as a scalpel, now it feels dumber than dumb
I've read several mentions of litigation regarding Lyrica. Should anyone start the process I would join in.... Maybe if any attorneys out there are reading these stories, one of them may give it some thought??
I had very bad memory loss on 75mg twice daily. My mouth burned and ankles. I came off it two days ago and my doctor put me on gabappentin.
I have started to lower my dosage to 75mg a day, so far memory no so bad. still have pain but I preferring this than memory probles, I see specialist 1st May also earlier the same day have a nerve conduction test. see what happens from there

I have memory and speech problems, too, since being on Lyrica. The problem really surfaced when I went from 100 mg a day to 225 mg a day. I'm a musician and generally well spoken but I, like you, am now quite often, having words stuck in my throat. I feel like a babbling *****. I take Lyrica for diabetic neuropathy and the increase of dosage seems to help, though I still sometimes have to take .5 mg of Xanex to fall asleep because the neuropathy pain is so harsh.
my memory loss started last year, I will be 41 in August, it seems to be getting worse. Its so embarrassing when I am talking and in mid sentence totally forget what I was talking about or cant think of the word I was looking for.
If you are already having side effects I would talk to your Dr about putting you on something else before it does real damage. I have been on Lyrica about 2 years and I just put together that my memory loss was from the Lyrica, it is getting worse. I am going to see if I can get my meds changed.
I'm glad I'm not the only one whose favorite new word is "thingy". I've been taking Lyrica for several months, starting at 75 mg twice a day to 150 twice s day to combat cluster headaches and fibromyalgia. I too thought I must be getting Alzheimer's! My vocabulary is down to simple words, I couldn't remember one of my best friend's names as I was standing by her, and I too stop in the middle of a sentence and have no idea what I was saying. I talked to my doctor about it this week, and as I just started back on my CPAP, I'll see if it helps and if not lower the dosage. The weight gain has been embarrassing and takes away any help with my depression.
I have been taking 225mg 2 times a day about 5 to 6 yrs now and I noticed I started being forgetful and as time went on I noticed I can't spell simple words and today with a friend I couldn't think of a word I used yesterday. Little small simple words I can't think of while holding a conversation. It's been so frustrating that I googled tonight whether lyrica causes memory loss and to my surprise I found all you guys.I choose my mind over the meds.
I've tapered my Lyrica from 225 mg daily to 150 mg and I'm doing much better with both my memory and speech skills that had at one time left me stumbling over the simplest words. I couldn't spit out a complete sentence without sounding like an *****... I tried going cold turkey on Lyrica and had horrible withdrawal and since studying, I'm tapering off... The neuropathy pain is about the same with 150 or 225. I can't notice a difference in that area.
I suffered a wet macular event when knocked by a car in an accident but I was taking Lyrica. I have permanent damage to my right eye and have injections into the eyeball for 2 years or more and this has stopped the retinal bleed. My left eye suddenly lost acuity and I had to go from 2.5 to 3.5 lens and the sight is often blurry.
Doctors and the company selling lyrica need to be held accountable in the courts for the damage it has caused to people's lives.
I really hope they don't take it off the market. I don't take it daily but only when my pain meds aren't sufficient to do the job (generally no more than 2 days in a row). Although it makes me word-dumb for awhile, for me, it really helps when it's needed. Perhaps, they could do better with the amount they're prescribing. We're all between a rock and a hard place I guess.
Yes! This is one of the reasons I want to taper off Lyrica. I'm a bilingual person and very often I forget a word in one of the languages and I need to use a dictionary to look up the translation from the other language.
Re: Marti (# 425)
Hi! I appreciate your message because I'm bilingual also and the same thing is happening to me. When someone asks me 'how to say this is English' for example, I can't remember the word unless it's a simple word like 'table' and 'door'.. Uff..
That's one of the problems I have. It's kind of embarrassing when you are talking to someone and you forget the word you were going to say and you have to ask the other person.

I really appreciate your reply, It helps me understand that it's not me, it's the medication. I'm tapering down and so far so good.
