Does A Child Need Abilify 5 Mg, Bupropion 75mg, And Chlorpromazine 25mg For Bipolar And Adhd?
UpdatedMy foster child is on Ability 5 mg, Bupropion 75 mg, Chlorpromazine 25mg 3 times per day for bipolar and ADHD. Does he need these meds that seem to do the same thing? I have the sense since he has been with me that he does not have anger problems any more than any other 11 year old child. He did tell me that he used anger to get away from the home he was in because he was being beaten by an older child. I will admit he may be adhd but bipolar you can't make me believe.

I'd suggest discussing it with his doctor and/or getting a second opinion. It is an unfortunate fact that many children end up over medicated and many doctors don't review what the child is taking and just leave them on them, rather than do a review and see if it is needed any longer. Have you talked to anyone about it? I have to think that being in foster care, the child probably hasn't had many advocates in his life, so it may really help him if you do so.
He sounds like he just needed a safe home with loving parents and lots of TLC and someone to express himself too if kids are abuse and treated badly sometimes they to act out and do whatever they can to get attention or vent there anger it's sad cause theres so many kids out there going through tough times and these drs wanna put them on meds to make matters worse talking about some ADHD I'm pretty sure there's a reason behind why these kids are acting out if the parents would just take the time to figure it out it's so sad
Clozaril is a very dangerous drug. I know many people that still take it. Often described as a miracle cure as a last result. This stuff is poison. You now need to get your blood checked every month to make sure you are not dying. Their are better alternatives.
I totally agree that TLC is the best option. People that struggle with bi-polar usually as for help at some time; usually around the crash or depressive episodes. Careful monitoring is probably the most usefull technique available. Bi-polar meds are very difficult to take and get used to. Give him 20 years...
