My daughter was prescribed Mirtazapine for insomnia. Does it cause depression?

Mirtazapine is an antidepressant therefore should not cause depression however of all the antidepressants it is very good for anxiety and sleep too so in some individuals this might translate to depression. If you have a vegetative type of depression rather than an anxious type you might experience sluggishness in a.m.

Sorry, but I have been taking mirtazapine 15mg and I can confirm that it has altered my behavior, increased the frequency of my absence seizures, increased suicide attempts and worsened my depression. There could be another underlying problem, but anyone who can deny these effects exist in anti depressants must be a Dr or have an interest in a pharmaceutical company. Please read the data sheets and first hand accounts, for realistic views on side effects, thanks.
