Does Contrave Make You Sleepy (Page 2)

I started Contrave 4 days ago, today being my 5th dose. Every day, I take the pill about 8am and by 9:30-10am I am so sleepy I can't stand it. Days 1 and 2 I managed to fight it off until about 12-12:30, day 3 until about 1-1:30, and day 4 I fought it off until 3pm. If I take a 1-2 hour nap, I wake up fine, with energy and then cannot get to sleep until about 2am, sometimes 3am. Today is day 5, I'm having that "drunk" feeling and sleepy, but no where near how it has been. It seems this effect is slowly wearing off, but I haven't seen anywhere where this is a common side effect. I know all medications effect everyone differently, so I'm wondering if this is something I should be concerned about, or just another side effect that I will get used to as the weeks go on?

I started taking contrave on Thursday and I can't stay up.Its my 3rd day I hope this wears off I do have ssleep apnea.

I'm on day two of one a day, headache and sleepy first day, second day not as bad, I am still eating the same but I'm going to give 2/3 weeks, but so no nausea, I take mine with 16 oz water after my breakfast

My local pharmacies are having trouble filling script!! Walgreens says the manufacturer has discontinued it?? Anyone else having trouble getting Contrave?

I agree with you, it's odd reading some of these comments and hearing the problems many people are having...I have been on Contrave for six weeks and the only side effect I have experienced is wild,crazy dreams. I haven't lost much weight but haven't cranked up my workouts yet. I can tell a difference in my clothing so I'm happy with that. I, too feel that the drug is doing what it is supposed to do and I'm thankful for my experience so far. I wish you continued success!

This is my 2nd time on contrave, I stopped before because I couldn't afford it and went back on phentermine, after a few months of phentermine im back because of headaches. I decided contrave was worth the cost but forgot how sleepy it makes you at first! I remember it lasting about a month, fading each week until it is time for the dosage increase. Coffee helps but if possible just take a nap.

That's what I told my husband. Between puking daily and constant sleeping, i should lose a lot of weight.

I'm on day 6 still puking in the morning and exhausted passing out taking 1-2 hour naps.

great, I'am on day 2 but the today is the first time I took it during the day, and I had to look up this medication again and I came across this page and many of the people have the same problems and concerns I have and yes I have been so sleepy then after around a 1 or 2 and I dose off, once I awake I feel much better. glad this working for you

I am at 7 weeks tomorrow and I have noticed the sleepiness has abated as well as the crazy dreams and I feel great! I had heard that most all side effects will subside by 6 weeks and I think for me that has been the case.

Express Script covers this drug and only cost 12.50 for a 3 month supply.

Thank You All for posting on this thread. I have taken contrave for going on 3 days and I've been so sleepy I can't stand it. I kept telling my friend how tired I am and she said maybe you need a vitamin. After reading this I guess now I know. I'm only on one pill starting out. If I feel this crappy now I'd hate to see what 2 does. However, I'm chilled. I can say that. Lol. I'm not one though who likes to be down. I like energy!!!!!

I haven't had any awful side effects. No fast heart beat. Nothing like that. Just sleepy. However it's all good because I'm hoping just hanging in there that will subside as my body adjusts.

So glad I found this page of comments! I'm on week two and I expected to be jittery but I'm laughing at how sleepy I am! LOL Thankfully I haven't really had any other side effects. I mentioned to my doctor that I was having depression related to my cycle and she said this may help with that as well. I hope so. I haven't lost any pounds but I definelty have cut back on how much I eat and my closer are fitting loser. I need to make time to work out so I can get the full use of the drug.

Second week on contrave. Sleepiness is gone. I feel good, energy, and my anxiety is 20 times better!!! I have no fast heart rate like phentermine caused. I don't feel nausea or anything like that and I feel this pill is working for me. The scale was down about 2 lbs. I am also working out and watching my food intake the best I can. I can't tell that it has decreased my appetite a ton but I do like not being so high strung and overwhelmed with anxiety. :). I was in a spin class the other day and the class was full. Normally, I would have panicked and had anxiety and walked out but I stayed through it and did it!!! Normally I'm not the girl that would even walk into the gym. I've been going in 3 to 4 times a week. So for me personally, I have to say....so far so good. This is working well for me. :) I feel like I have clarity on it. We shall see.....stay tuned. :)

I just paid 145.00 for a px of Contrave. I feel my mood goung up and down, hands shaking, dizzy and very tired. Im not sure I can do this. The medication worries me because I'm not sure if it's going to harm my health. I'm not sure it's with taking the medication with the side effects.

So on week 3! I feel like a drunken monkey! Took my two pills this morning and taking my one this evening. I'm so sleepy I can't stand it and skipped the gym!! As far as the scale? I'm up 2 lbs!!!! So first week was great. This week not so much.

I am on my week 2 I am having same symptoms. Really sleepy within 2 hours after taking pill. I try to fight off until about 5 then I am exhausted after taking a nap for about 30 minutes came back energized. Then 2 am have trouble sleeping
