Does Anyone Else Use Levsinex
UpdatedI have had severe bouts of diarhhea, bloating, and gas for over a month. I have done a lot of reading about this on the Internet and think I may have irritable bowel syndrome. I have seen a GI and am having an endoscopy/colonoscopy on 10/19. When I saw her she would not prescribe anything for me and the episodes have become more frequent. A friend of mine who is a nurse said I should call the GI and tell her I can't live like this until she gets does the endoscopy/colonoscopy. She said I should ask her to call in a script for Levsinex capsules. I would appreciate input from anyone out there who has used this med or something similar.

Hi Leigh,
I personally don't use Levsinex (Hyoscyamine) but I thought I could provide you with some information about what it's used for, its side effects, and other precautions.
Levsinex (Hyoscyamine) is used in the treatment of many different stomach and intestinal disorders, including peptic ulcer and irritable bowel syndrome. It is also used to control muscle spasms in the bladder, kidneys, or digestive tract, and to reduce stomach acid.
You should refrain from using any antacids with this medication, as they can make it harder for your body to absorb the ingredients. Also, be sure to tell your doctor if you have heart disease, congestive heart failure, a heart rhythm disorder, high blood pressure, overactive thyroid, or hiatal hernia with gastroesophageal reflux disease.
The side effects include, but are not limited to:
dizziness, drowsiness, feeling nervous, blurred vision, headache, sleep problems (insomnia), nausea, vomiting, bloating, heartburn, constipation and more.
If you experience any of these serious side effects, stop taking Levsinex and call your doctor immediately:
diarrhea, confusion, hallucinations, unusual thoughts or behavior, fast, pounding, or uneven heart rate, rash or flushing (warmth, redness, or tingly feeling), eye pain.
