In pain , it is up to each dr to prescribe the medications that he thinks are appropiate. It is not malpractice is one dr doesn't want to prescribe the same meds for a patient that another did or does. If you signed a pain contract with the dr that treats your pain and you get a pain med from another dr, the dr treating your pain may dismiss you.

Christy, there are no new laws that prevent a pcp from prescribing Norco. Call your insurance company and ask them for a list of Pain Management Drs in your area. You will need a copy of medical records from the previous dr.

Opioids do destroy the teeth so we are blessed to have implants done in an efficient and quick manner these days. Remember the medication is needed for many of us to keep us alive. We all must suffer this.

If you have fired a physician you may go longer or not get one do not do this. This entire situation we ALL face is due to the ACA. Odumma did this to America and I project a good two years until we return to the scientific use of opioids for intractable pain.

Further most of the injections cause further damage. You tell whoever offers them or won't give you narcotics without the expensive injections you would like to know 100% that these injections won't cause you further damage. They cannot tell you this and likely will not write you narcotics. You are causing yourself future problems by these injections. I just received a new diagnosis and everyone knows I have over 30 already and progressed to Central Pain Syndrome of Arachnoiditis. It comes from the dyes and injections and I've had FEW if not very many!

Yes if your husband receives them monthly for chronic pain you will now need a pain specialist.

Ask the PCP to immediately recommend you to one of these in the Dallas or Fort Worth area. There are many pain specialists out that way. In Texas a physician who is prescribing regular medications for chronic pain must certify as a pain clinic and it appears your husband now fits regular yes. I sympathize and currently the new Governor has made even worse implications due to this ACA and FDA and CDC recommendations.

There are many good pain specialists in your area and perhaps the PCP will cover him with this request until you can get him in to the referral source.

That's discouraging! Also, I agree with so many things said here. It's absolutely ridiculous that pain isn't treated effectively. On top of hurting all the time, chronic pain patients are made to feel like criminals or addicts out both. It's important to understand that addiction and dependence are NOT the same thing!! Why should I have to have cancer to have quality of life?

Still in desperate need of a doctor who prescribes norcos for my husband. He has been in a tornado and broke his back years ago. He has chronic pain. Please if you know anyone in the Dallas area let me know. Thanks

When you say injections...are you talking about steroids, NSAIDS, narcotics (Nubain, this one sucks, by the way..particularly if you are or have been on long term narcs)?

P450Metabolizer, if you ask a dr to 100% guarantee that the injections won't cause harm, if they are giving you narcotics, they may stop that because they cannot guarantee 100% that narcotics won't hurt you either.

From RI, I have been in pain. I NEED a doctor for my fibromyalgia and colon and abdominal pain. I am suffering so bad. Bedridden. Please try to help me. My PCP doesn't care. I am in agony. If anyone knows a doc in RI that can help I would greatly appreciate it. I cannot wait.

Mpathia, if you have insurance, call your insurance company and ask them for a list of Pain Management Drs in your area that take your insurance. If you don't have insurance, call Pain Management Drs in your area and ask for drs that accept self pay patients.

Hi: Anyone Near Charlotte, NC?

I realize this Frank Ceres is in Ohio but I could also use the name of a doctor such as him that would never allow me to go w/ out pain meds. as I have a bulging disc in my cervical spine along with arthris in my lumbar. Finding a reliable pain Dr. is a major dilemma here & elsewhere. Willing to travel 40 miles for exceptional medical care. NC folks dealing w/ chronic pain with suggestions, please respond! Ive been on tramadol (ultram) for over 18 years and no problems. When i move or paid dr moves new drs always stop everything and i have to take stuff that doesnt work and end up back on tramadol. Not everyone has same results good or bad. For me it is my savior.

I have Crohn's disease and ulcerative Clyde is severely since 2003 I was a former Fedex employee business and was 14 years prior to thousand three I didn't get disability 2013 I do get Remicade fusions that house 1000 a month covered under my care Medicare I finally got I'm starting a pain symptoms again because it is not working severe pain and need a pain management doctor that can help me thank you I live in Millington outside of Memphis thank you

Mikalre, the link below has drs that accept Medicare. No one can tell you what any dr will prescribe you. A pain management dr will need a copy of your medical records that prove that you have an impairment that may cause pain severe enough to require pain meds.
