Oh P, I'm sooo sorry to hear this! WHEN is sometime gonna take responsibility for your case! I was just thinking the other day, "P must be doing well because I've not seen any postings!"
I'd give you my opioid potentiating recipe but people might freak out here so I'll skip. You can Google "opioid potentiating guide" & find a couple different ways. I mean we're talking grapefruit or grape juice and a couple otc pharmacy items. Good luck, P. Please let us know how you're doing!

It's a hard life. I've tried everything. I need something for pain try ed the back it's just a short fix to the issues. mine is back pain. It's a lot like teeth pain. nothing over counter helps anything. I need help to get them for pain / stress, etc. If anybody can help me I thank you deeply.

P450-I am here kinda-right now able sit up but not for long. God surprised to hear from ya, really hoped you had found help. Dr. Famous may be your salvation if ya can wrangle appt. w/ him. I found a "multi-service clinic" in Orlando, FL that is giving me a minuscule amount of relief so barely avoiding withdraws but pain level unbearable - dr. not help since fear DEA even tho my last visit I was on my back entire time. He said I will not delay you so you can get home back in bed. Soooo unreal drs. can view obvious agony yet fear just wins every time. BP/heart rate at constant ER levels, BP meds not bringing it down--PAIN wont let them......At 10% of level that brings pain to level I can sit in chair & think somewhat normally not worrying of nausea with blackout from pain like am at now. My life is being shortened each day from the stress of agony. So I may be cardiac arrest or kidney failure or ........Anyhow pls hang in, idk what could help but pls lemme know if I can try and help ya. We all don't deserve this torture.

I sob when I look at what's left in my vicodin bottle. Because I know that I won't make it. I've done all the other routes, anti depressants, anti inflammatories, physical therapy, Chinese medicine, alternative medicine, meditation, diet, exercise, classes upon classes, and this is for the last 30+ years. Finally I get a doctor who treats my pain as well as my diseases and came to know what the 'peace' means. Enter the DEA. For those of you who have no clue as to what I am experiencing don't bother to respond cuz you've no idea what it is to walk in some else's shoes that's dealing with chronic pain. You're thoughts and ideas you naysayers are not welcome and wanted. I don't care what you think about me and my post. I'm not looking for sympathy, I'm venting my rage at the injustice of big brother controlling and running the quality of my life. My blood is on the DEA's hands. I hope the stain lasts forever. So it's either back to hell or lights out. I have the right to choose. Or so I thought.

I don't think it's fair for a patient to suffer chronic pain and no one wants to write pain meds just be cause some may be abusing it does not make all of us abusers. Some of us simply want relief and have no addiction problems. The big question is who will help me now? My doctor has quit so stuck me here with no way of controlling my pain nor can I get a referral since he just left his practice. Can a er. Or a urgent care help at least till you could find a doctor and actually get an appointment. They say it's illegal to dr. Shop but what else can a person do either use meds or suffer and not be able to do daily life functions. Please help if anyone knows of er. Urgent care etc. That would help me. Thanks.

Felicia roads, almost all drs want a copy of your medical records from your previous dr. Does your insurance require a referral is that what the drs that you have called so far have said ? Not all drs require a referral. The chronic pain patients that are not on high doses of pain med and that haven't broken any of the rules from their previous drs, are the ones that don't seem to have much, if any problems getting their pain managed.

Very few ER's will prescribe pain meds if you've been treated for chronic pain and lost your dr. Urgent cares are often the same way. If you go to a dr and get a prescription for a pain med and then you go to another dr and get another prescription for a pain med and then go back to the first dr or another dr and get a prescription for pain meds, that is what is referred to as Doctor Shopping. But, if you go to a dr and he doesn't give you a prescription for a pain med and you go to another one and he doesn't give you a prescription and you go to another one and he gives you a prescription, that is not Doctor Shopping.

P450-Hope you get to CA for Dr. Famous, my doc here in FL is INCREDIBLY overly paranoid of DEA but if you have enough records (heaven knows YOU DO) he does write. I had to update all x-rays plus new MRI but did get script which is actually over the 120 mg guide, but not enough for me.....I feel he may at least scrape you by if you are at brick wall. By no means would I tell you he is your answer but like me when it's nothing or him (for short while till answer is found) then he is help. Also-this may be the dealbreaker for you- he not take insurance..... cash only. Strange but true. I am still looking but things are getting so much worse so quickly with new CDC guides am fearing we are all doomed to a tortured, agonized death via under-treated pain. If interested will give address etc. he is in Orlando, FL.
With over 100,000 chronic pain ppl. verified you would think this should be an American health problem our "wonderful" country would be addressing urgently--HAHAHAHA NOT. Home of the free & tortured to death.

Chris, where is this Doctor you mentioned in California? (I am in central CA., and will pay cash) And, at the risk of sounding more ignorant than I already feel, who the heck is Dr. Famous?

Dear J.,

You mentioned Lidoderm 5% patches, which I have used and they work wonders! However, I cannot get them anymore because they have been designated only for certain medical problems. (I'm on Medicare and not sure if this restriction is only for the elderly or everyone. And, I don't understand why something so wonderful is taken away from those who need it most.) Chronic back pain from degenerative disc + more does not qualify. (They helped me walk daily.) Now...maybe once a year, I save up the money to buy a box of generic for $200+, with a RX savings card, which really doesn't save that much. I use them sparingly. My thoughts: When trying to not take narcotics and finally finding something like these amazing patches...and then, having them taken away, is quite a letdown. I wish someone with power would do something about this. Thanks for listening!

"...(j) The protections afforded health care practitioners by this section shall be in addition to the protections available under any other law of this state....Business and Professions Code, division 2, Chapter 1, California law."

Check into your state laws, see what is applicable to your situation, (I know I'm preachin' here, but). California also has a "Patients Bill of Rights. Does your state? Be informed, 'they' hate it. Almost as much as I hate my pain and the idiotic alphabeteers who made it worse.

California has 2 laws on the books that some of you might find interesting.

"Pain Patients Bill of Rights" part 4.5 of the Health and Safety Code
"Intractable Pain Law" 2241.5 Business and Professions Code.

My personal favorite ...

"(d) A physician who uses opiate therapy to relieve severe chronic intractable pain may prescribe a dosage deemed medically necessary to relieve severe chronic intractable pain, as long as that prescribing is in conformance with the California Intractable Pain Treatment Act, Section 2241.5, of the Business & Professions Code."

And all you fellow pain sufferers be aware of this powerful beauty!!

"(c) No physician or surgeon shall be subject to disciplinary action by the board for prescribing or administering controlled substances in the course of treatment of a person for intractable pain."

So what is the freakin' problem? The alphabeteers are overriding the good doctor's oath as well as interfering with my legally god-given right to be treated for my pain because my pain is LIFE threatening! The alphabateers are killing me by not letting me access my MEDICALLY NECESSARY PAIN MEDS. By terrorizing doctors and pharmacists, not making what my body needs to live on and THRIVE, the alphateers are directly responsible for my death! Keep in mind, not life threatening due to suicide, but Proven to cause death in some; heart failure, stroke, and other nasties. It's MEDICALLY proven and documented! I think I'd like to sue someone or some-bodies. Isn't that murder by any other name? I'm talking to an attorney on mon. If you don't hear from me about the results, well, knowledge is dangerous isn't it? Now I'm madder than hell!!
