I am looking for a compassionate doctor in the Richmond VA area who will prescribe pain medication.

I have been on pain meds for 13 years. Now my doc says I have to get an evaluation from a pm doctor. I have called at least 20 places here in Richmond and can not find one! Can anyone help me please. She said she will not write me any more even though I have a chronic problem and have been on them for so long. Thank you

Jermey, I need a doctor in the area for my husband and I . We have insurance and all medical records up to date. We lost our doctor of 15 years and we have seen a quack in Fredericksburg, Va. But it something strange going on they only accept cash and won't give a receipt.

Subutex and suboxone do help with pain. I have degenerative talur dome in right ankle. Near end stage, looks like swiss cheese on ct scan, it is where the ankle attaches to tibia and fibula. 2 screws in left ankle. Plate & 8 pins pelvis left side. Worst ankle has bolt thru talus and plate & 9 screws at bottom of tibia where it shattered. One screw goes through the plate and tibia to the fibula presumptively to squeeze my ankle together. Pain management in Richmond is ending. Everyone I know on it is getting screwed. Best bet is to see an addiction specialist. Who cares if it works. They will likely be a psychiatrist. In my case I need one but that's irrelevant. Subutex is better for pain but both work. There is a doctor off 64 at bottoms bridge. Name is Thomas and will do subutex. Original psych was James Sellman. Patterson ave. Soboxone and mental health.

My current doctor does subutex for pain but he is full. His specialty is medicine. Each buprenorphine Dr. Can only have 100 patients. Google suboxone. Go to sight and put in zip. I was a H addict for 13 years from this. I can't do hard labor anymore but everything is good walking.

Hate to say it, but Suboxone and Subutex will leave you with the same big hairy monkey as any narcotic. That last step off is a REAL issue for ALOT of people (my brother included)

Neither of these medications is a "pain medication" per say. While there is SOME pain relief in people with no opioid tolerance, the naltrexone in it blocks opiate receptors in your brain, for this reason, it is mainly used to treat opiate dependency.

The best plan of action would be to see a pain management doctor who can adequately manage your pain, use ONE pharmacy and ONE doctor (either pm or pcp) and go from there.

Pain is a mean beast, but you must go about treating it the right (and legal!) way.

Hi I saw your message that you may be able to help .... have had same PM dr for 15 years and they have closed the pm dept. finding a new dr to take over the same care I was getting has proved impossible.... PLEASE HELP!

I have the same problem looking for decent pain management doctor I bn on percs for 8 years now n methadone 6 months then moved n need a new doctor can't find one that gives same meds I have bone spurs n my bck degenerative disk disease n chronic pain I just wish I can find decent doc who understands

Hi I live in Spotsy/Fred as well. Have you had any luck finding a PM Dr? I'am looking for one, since Dec 2014, when my PM Dr. Got in trouble, then all of the sudden he stopped taking my ins. I have got to find a PM Dr. I hope to stay on the same meds. I have DDD, stenosis, Bulging Discs, fibro, also have anxiety/depression from dealing with the pain. Haven't been as to work in 5 yrs. I think I know maybe the quack? Is it a office in downtown Fred?

I am reposting I thought I did this one for Richmond, Virginia IF ANYONE can suggest a compassionate physician in East Texas, all of Texas, or Louisiana I need one yesterday. From what I've read and I know they do not allow us to post our email address I have also heard of a clinic in Weyers Cove VA that prescribes liberally. There is a Dr. Audet and another anesthesiologist there. They are called Balint Clinic, and due to my own complexity (former Virginian injured working at my alma mater Medical College of Virginia) in 1998 Virginia is now very bad. Ever since Dr. Bill was arrested the second time I am in Texas for many years and literally when my PM in Houston of 10 years died had to go to California the past 5 years. I am a rare case aside from the 4 million issues that makes me catastrophic. I am by the way seeking physicians in East Texas, Louisiana, or anywhere in Texas immediately. When California regulations changed I had to take employer back to VWCC for my physician had to discharge 30 rare cases (the type who literally do die from pain it's insane isn't it) and only because he taught me to always put aside 10% I have not died but am on far too little and need immediate help myself. The Judge again found on my behalf I use instant acting liquid and patches brand only so you can imagine what I have gone through all these years. My first PM was a female DO who now I've heard works with a large corporation of pain clinics so I am presuming since she first put me on Oxycontin back before we knew I was P450 (pills do not work for rapid metabolizers) that those clinics do pain management and they are located in Virginia, D.C. and Maryland. It is more the norm if you do need serious help to consider you get it including out of state. But due to Obama we are all suffering he made sure there were huge shortages on inventory when he came in which drove prices up even more sky high then before, and now has pushed for death of older folks (40 and up) who are chronic in any realm. As a professional nurse I despise what he has done to healthcare in America. I will find the name of this corporate enterprise of pain clinics I know if my first PM is with them now that they are doing good work; I also know if you are like me requiring high dosage opioids and are considering the pump they have access with their own out patient hospitals and physicians performing this and pump fills. Ok it's National Spine and Pain Centers and they have 40 clinics in those 3 states. Hope this helps a bit for ya'll.
