I'm interested in finding a private doctor's office (not a clinic) that will prescribe methadone. I can't afford these clinics! Does anyone know of a doctor???
Jovigirl, I am so glad it worked out. What a relief it is I know. What I would do is call Dr. P's office and see what hospitals he works in and use one of the pharmacies there. Once a month is not bad. Good going girl!
Pam,
I went to see Dr P today and I was able to get my pain meds filled. He does want you to come back in a month but thats fine. I didnt know he wasnt accepting new patients so I was pretty lucky to get in,thanks to you!The only thing is I am having a hard time finding a pharmacy cuz he gave me the oxys not methadone which is good cuz thats what I've been on. I called around to a few and no one has them. This sucks. I never had problems filling them in Pa. I got home pretty late so I'll be calling around tomorrow. Someone has to have them. If you know of any place let me know. thanks again for all your help on here. You have literally saved alot of us so we can have a normal life.
me, what area do you live in. I know Dr. P is getting full. Jovigirl was very lucky she got it because they stopped taking new patients the week that she had called.
me,
Sure, my appointment is today. I will let you know this evening.
jovigirl
Can you please let me know how you appointment goes with Dr. P my husband and I need to find a Dr we can get methadone pills from ASAP any info after you go will help thank you
Jovigirl, I wrote this and it was deleted so here goes again. They Dr. is in Taylor not Dearborn, my mistake.Dr Abrahamson is main doc,my friend sees Jennifer. Great Lakes Physical 23255 Eureks Rd, Taylor don't know phone#. Pharmacy next door that has everything.
Menaro Pharmacy & Medical 734-287-3880.
I lived in interlochen I had to move becuz I was on methadone clinic cuz NO drs. there even will give it. the best u can do is go to muskegon and get onto their methadone clinic
jovigirl, Oh great. I am so glad you got in. He will most likely do xrays but your insurance will cover that. Be honest with him. Tell him you had a recent move and need a new pcp and tell him what you are on. Good luck. In the future if Dr. P is too busy try out Dr. Kate she's new so she's not as busy.Let me know what happens and let me know if this works with your husband. Yea an hour, piece of cake!
Pam,
Hi, Just wanted to let u know I have an appointment with Dr.P. next week. I will let u know how it goes. I was able to make him my pcp. I didnt think he accepted my insurance but he does. Thank god. It's an hour away but I dont mind driving that. I was driving 12 hours round trip so this will be nothing. Now just so the rest falls into place so I can go on living a normal life. somewhat. I just hope it all goes good. If u pray please say a small one for me. I thank u again. take care. talk to u later.
Muskegon
starved. Please let me know what city you live in.
I live on the west side of the state and really need to find a dr that is willing to help me, and not look at me like I'm simply chasing. If u or anyone knows of a dr on the west side plz let me know. Thanx!
Pam,
Hey ,Can you let me know about the dr in Dearborn when you take your friend. I really appreciate it. Thanks again. your an angel.S
Hey Pam,
Ur so nice to write back, I know your busy. Right now I am rationing my pills. Im gonna try on Monday to call Dr.P. and Dr Idres to see if I can get in soon. Im sure the methadone will help. I have taken it years ago just for going through withdrawl, not at a clinic. Cant do the clinic, know all about it from my ex. I have a paper prescription from my dr in Pgh but no one will fill it here.(for the oxys) Thats the problem. I was driving to pgh every month i think i said and now i cant but if I could find a pharmacy here that would fill a prescription in Michigan til I get in with one of these Docs that would be great. I've called around and no one will, unless u know of one i dont? I havent been here long. It's a legitimate rx. I will follow the appointments and everything to a t. I always have. I never dr shopped. I only got meds from my dr in pgh and he was nice enough to give me paper scripts but I just cant do the drive anymore. I always worked too but now I cant for fear of running out which i am gonna do anyway and be sick, Im shaking just thinking about it. I dont want to do the detox thing. How is that gonna help my pain? its not. Its for my husband. and its expensive. theres a payment we shouldnt be making. I cant do this anymore. i moved to Michigan for my husband and now I'm screwed. Thanks again for listening.
Hey Jovigirl, I can't think of the doctors name but if your husband is talking about where they put you to sleep and "clean" you blood out is a rough way to go. When he first started doing this he had a patient die. He owned a methadone clinic and that was closed down on him. I "think " his last name started with W. Of course you lost your zest for life. When we know we are going to be without that's all we can think about. Withdrawels are awful and I sure you husband hasn't gone thru them. I think methadone will help you out at the right dose. I know several people with pill addictions it has helped out.I pay $15.00 cash for 150 pills. I believe the Dr's I mentioned do take you insurance. If not Dr. Idrees off I-75 & 8 mile is $75.00 evry 2 weeks or you can pay monthly $150.00 but you do go in twice a month. Dr. P is $80.00 cash and you go in once a month. I have always been a working addict. I babysit my grandkids all the time and I travel out of state often. I couldn't do this until I was blessed with the good Dr I go to, but I follow the rules to a "T". I was afraid do to anything when going to a daily clinic from all the hoops they make you jump thru. Things are getting a little better for us but it's no where it should be. I don't want to bash you husband but my2nd husband was like that just didn't understand. I just hate hearing stories like "ours". I don't know much about cymbalta but will check around. I am driving a friend to a drs. next week but it's in Dearborn and he is prescribed the pills you take, the drug store at which he gets it filled is right next door. I will get that numbr for future. Sorry so lenghthy.Good luck girl!
Feelingnormal,
Hi this is jovigirl and I just read your message. Wanted to thank you for the support. I really am at my wits end as you can tell. Cymbalta is used mostly for depression although I know they use it for pain management too but I did take it years ago for depression and it did nothing for my pain. I could probably try it again but I still need the oxycontin with it. It sounds like many of the pain management docs would rather give methadone instead of oxycontin for pain. I don't know why? They dont do that in Pgh. And getting my husband to go along with the methadone thing isn't gonna be easy. I dont know if you read my one post but he wants me to go to that rapid detox place in Livonia to get the opiates flushed and then they give u a shot and pills for a year so that even if you take any opiates they wont work. So im just suppose to walk around in back pain every day to make him happy. The strongest thing you can take would be Motrin. Now thats funny! He said I lost my passion for life. Well when all your worried about is how your going to get medicated to feel normal what the hell do you expect? I live near Flint but if you wouldnt mind telling me a few docs I would greatly appreciate it. I dont mind driving a little bit. I was driving 6 hours to pgh one way so.. I cant drive there anymore. My husband actually will throw me out if I do. I need to find a doctor here that will prescribe preferably oxycontin but methadone will do. I have blue care network , thats what sucks .The prescription would be covered. 20 bux or so but if the doctor doesnt take my insurance I would have to pay for the office visit but what else can I do? I think my husband may go for that. I dont know anymore. I just know I cant live like this anymore. I know I am going to go through withdrawl and I am not looking forward to it. I am going to try the drs. Pam told me about. Just really need the dr to be covered. She seems pretty awesome to help us all out. You are too. thanx
Jovigirl, I was reading one of your postings and it could have been written by me. I've been on methadone for 12 years after brain surgery and i had to set my alarm for 1 1/2 hours before I needed to get up in the morning so I could take my pain medication and have my level down a bit before I got out of bed. I spent every day of the past 12 years worried about running out of medication before the doctor wrote the refill I've had every one in my family lecture me or threaten me about the money I was spending on "my pills". Yeah it was prolly one childs college fund but i either took those medications or I would have prolly have died from some insane self medication option I came up with. I cant even count the number of times I have had to switch pcp (Primary care doc) for insurance, or tons of other reasons. I would then spend the next 6 months trying to convince a new doctor of why I had to have pain medication. Im only explaining about me so you will hopefully see that Ive been in your shoes and know somewhat how you feel. About a month or two ago I ws on here trying to find a doctor and the "pain was making me crazy". At that time I was ready to end life because I was tired of hurting all day every day. Then 2 weeks ago I went in to my pcp office for a refill on my pain pills and when he asked how my pain was I told him it was out of control even with the methadone. He then tells me that it is obviously not working so he was stopping it wanted me to taper off in the next 32 days.He gave me a perscription for cymbalta to start taking that day to. I took the cymbalta and 2 more methadone than I was perscribed for the next 5 days . On day 6 I woke up with no pain- before I took a pain pill !!!! I have continued to take my pain pills at the perscribed dose to keep detox symptoms from starting. This is my 13th day of feeling like the person I was prior to my injury/surgery. I feel happy, healthy, and pain free or at least pain that feels like a hang nail compared to what I had a month ago. I dont want to sound like im telling you to quit taking your pain meds because Im not doing that at all. Im only telling you that for 12 years my daily exsistence was spent worrying about having enough medication. And how I was going to get them and how to pay for them. The past 13 days Ive gotten so much done because I wasn't spending my day focused on my medication.I understand the loss that pain causes in your life, careers, relationships, pride and self esteem. I am telling you this because nothing has helped me in 12 years until this cymbalta. I wondered if you could ask your doctor to persribe this to you along with your pain medications. Pam is the absolute expert on where to find doctors, but if you live on the west side of the state I might be able to direct you to a few who understand how debilitaing pain is and will keep your pain controlled. Good Luck. I know what you are going through and want you to know there is hope. If I can feel like a normal pain free human again, then anyone who reads this sites postings can feel it too. Even you!
jovigirl, I have tried to go back as far as I can on this site but can't find the guy with finder fee if I locate elsewhere I will let you know. Dr. Egilstine in Battle Creek writes pain meds 269-969-6040. I am told Dr Vargas in Midland in Midland writes for anything but I don't have his number Dr. P's number is on my other message to you. You really need a pain management clinic but they are so pricey. Hopefully someone else on this site might be able to help you out. Keep me posted. I'll let you know if I locate numbers. I really feel for you. I ran out of my meds the other day and went into a frenzy for a bit. I know your husband just isn't going to get it. I would imagine he grows tired of you talking about it. I hope something works out.
Pam, Hi It's jovigirl again. I so appreciate your reply.Dont want the meth clinic. I do have a question re Dr Pinson. Do u know if he will give oxycontin ? It looks like he just gives methadone or suboxene. Does he wean you off? I don't want weaned off at this point. I think i need to stay on for pain. I have to see if he takes blue care network. If you could give me the info in Madison Heights. You said she was pretty good about prescribing meds. What gets me is I have been on these for many years. And also I might as well check into the other person who knew some drs but wants a 40 finder fee. Could try that. My other problem is seeing if they take my insurance. If they dont and its not too much money I could probably talk my husband into letting me go. We had blue shield and we just changed to blue care network. I just cant do the rapid detox thing. It's nice to talk to someone who understands how we live. It's just a vicious cycle for me. I cant get a job if I cant find a dr who will prescribe here cause I cant be without them for even a day without being deathly ill and in pain. It is the worst feeling in the world. Thanks again. Sorry if I'm a pain in the butt.
jovigirl, Sorry to hear about your situation. I have taken MI. scripts to Tenn. and have no problem getting them filled. Methadone is one I get filled. I don't know any Drs in the flint area. If you are willing to travel..Dr. Pinson has provided much help. He's in Madison Hgts and a office in Southgate. You only go in once a month 1-248-589-1770 but I don't know if he is taking on new patients at this time. What helps is that you are already on the medication. I have friends that go to a doctor on 8 mile in Madison Hgts off of I-75 and she is very liberal with her meds. I'll have to get you the number if you want it. There is a methadone clinic in Flint I believe it's called Eastside or Eastwood, I would have to check but I'm sure you don't want to go that route. You can't quit cold turkey. I'm sorry to say alot of people just don't understand our addictions. It's a shame to have to live this way. Way back on this site they was a person that had alot of connects with doctors. I think he charged a $40.00 finder fee. If you want me to provide you with that let me know. Good luck.
