Doctors In Louisiana That Prescribe Methadone For Chronic Pain (Page 6) (Top voted first)

I have been taking 120 mg of methadone for approximately 5 years. My husbands job transferred us from Florida to Louisiana where I found a pretty good pain doc. He is now running scared and wants to take me off of methadone. Methadone has given me a good quality of life; I am able to work and be a productive member of society. My doctor is unwilling or unable to assist me in finding a new doctor who will continue my meds. Oh yeah, I have been the route of blocks and injections and gotten little if any relief. I'm tired of being branded a drug seeker-I have years of medical records that back up my claims and verify the dosages that I've been on-what drug seekers have this kind of back up? I am looking for a Louisiana doctor, but am willing to travel (within reason of course). Please help!!

Methadone man I need to find a new pain mangement dr in your area , that will keep my on all my same medications- methadone 100mg ,Lortab 10mg, & Xanax 4mg ( 2 of the 2mg bars) daily, can u r anyone recommend a physician in r within 100 miles of Lafayette,Louisiana??? Hey I live in Florien too! I'm trying to find a pain management clinic for my Daddy. If your from here you probably know him, my momma, or myself. Everybody knows everybody around here! LOL! If you know ANYWHERE he can go to get relief PLEASE let me know. He has a disease called sarcoidosis. He's had it for 13 years. It has caused so many more problems for him along the way. He has broken his Hip, shoulder, arm, leg, and probably more that I can't remember. He HURTS Everyday. I would really appreciate your help. Thanks!

You're taking Methadone for pain management ? Louisiana won't pay for Pain Management. You may be able to find a PCP to rx it, but I doubt it. You will also need to give a new dr permission to get your old medical records.

I was a drug addict in the 70s through 95. When I say addict , I AM FROM NEW ORLEANS AND BACK THEN WE WERE MAKING DOCTORS, THATWOULD WRITE SCRIPTS FOR PERCODANS, CETS, ETC.THEN I STARTED BUYING DILAUDID. I WAS FIXING BY AGE 17. I AM NOW IN MY MID 50s, REALIZED I WAS STRUNG OUT YEARS LATER, AND GOT ON METHADONE TO HELP ME QUIT USING. THE PROBLEM THERE IS, METHADONE IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO GET OFF OF. I WAS ON 10 YEARS, GOT THE ITCH MOVED TO NEW YORK WHERE I WAS DOING 6 $10.00 BAGS OF BOY A DAY, AND WAS ON A CLINIC AND WAS DOING 65mgs. Daily. I FINALLY AFTER REACHING AGE 45, I COULD NO LONGER BE A RIPPER &RUNNER. POLICE, JAIL, SO NOW I AM ON100 mg. DAILY, I HAVE TO GO TO THE CLINIC EVERY 2 WEEKS, BUT NOW HAVEO NO USE FOR THE NEEDLE, AS THAT WAS JUST TO GET ME LOADED. I CAN FUNCTUNE ON THE DONE, BUT THE PAIN MANAGMENTS THAT POPPED UP GOT SCARED AWAY BECAUSE OF IGNORANT PEOPLE THAT COULDNT OR WOULDNT FOLLOW THE RULES. ITS BEEN 18 YEARS SINCE I FELT LIKE AN ADDICT, BUT THIS STATE NEEDS TOGET THERE HEADS OUT OF THE 1950s. PEOLPE ARENT JUST JUNKIES, ANYMORE. AT LEAST, I KNOW IM NOT. I AM ADDICTED TO METH, BUT MY HUBAND ANDI PAY OVER 700.00 A MONTH FORTHE CLINIC IN MARERRO. THE POLITICIANS HERE NEED TO STAND UP TO WASHINGTON, AND ALLOW THE LA. CLINICS TOTAKE INSURANCE, MEDICAID, CARE. IAM DISABLED, FROM FOURTH DEGREE BURNS ONMY LEGS, AND RUPTURED ANDTORN LIGAMENTS IN MY BACK. BUT I HAVE BEEN ON IT 37 YEARS AND EILL NEVER, NEVER GET OFF UNTIL I DIE. PLEASE, FOR YOUR SAKE, GET OFF AND DO ANYTHING ELSE. I live in Eunice, Louisiana and am willing to travel (if I gave to) to a md that would prescribe Methadone. Could you please tell me which mds do prescribe Methadone???? I would appreciate the info because I do not want to be on other pain meds like Oxycontin!

I haven't find doctor just yet. I had move back to California where doctor show really care. Was thinking go back to Florien and have a lawyer to sue Louisiana doctor for destroy my health. I was near death until arrive in California to survive. Checking on Internet and find leesville to provide methadone liquid but the only problem is that I have to go there everyday per 180 mg whoa I'm only take 60 mg. I will have drink quarter of it and dump it.

mike as DeafKing, There isn't any dr anywhere that can look at someone and see they need methadone. How many attorney's have you talked to about suing ? How many will take the case ?

I don't know how you are getting any relief from the meth, once your opioid receptors in your brain get plugged up, meth simply wont work, this is the reason they use it for addiction. I live in Canada and have been on the program for 15 years, I see the dr once a month he wrights the script, I take 700 mils home, and the same the week after,untill I see him again. I took a fall 5 years ago and have multiple compression fractures in my spine, we tried every opioid pain meds that there were,ext.and fentanyl patch 100mcg,to absolutely no avail do to the use of methadone, I was getting more relive from extra strength Tylenol than the fentanyl ,once your receptors are plugged up opioids simply wont work. Look it up on the net, under Treatment of pain in methadone-maintained patients....there will be better explanations there than I can explain...

Meth first made in Germany on 1937 then USA took it in 1947. My wife's mother have done sue doctor for not sprint her last 1983 and won. She has liver disease and was 65 years old and she die recently at age 94 in 2012. When she first take methadone and I have never see her work before. She work as teacher until retire at the age of 75 and enjoy her retirement for 19 years. She don't take 180 ML a day like those additive. She only take 40 ML a day. Yes I can sue.

You don't have to go back to Louisiana or Florien. You don't have to currently be living in the same state/city/town. If you can find an attorney to take the case, they will need all of your medical records, plus alot of money I'm sure.

What exactly did your mother in law sue for ? Did she sue in Louisiana ?

It is hard to find many doctors who will prescribe methadone as a treatment for pain (it is generally just used as a maintenance treatment for opiate addiction), even in PM practices. They will generally prescribe other types of opiates (hydrocodone, oxycodone, oxymorphone). If it's methadone you require then your best bet is a methadone clinic. In my experience, the best clinic anywhere around southeastern LA is in LaPlace. They are very understanding and compassionate, will work with you around your work schedule, and has fewer patients so the wait times are MUCH shorter than that of other clinics (to be able to get in to dose when the clinic opens in NO or BR, you must arrive 5-7 hours in advance if you don't want to wait for HOURS). The clinic in Laplace starts dosing at 5:30am and I can generally be out the door for 5:45 if I'm there by 5:00. In BR, to be out the door within 30 mins of opening you would have to get there between 10-11pm the night before (insanity!) I hope this helps
