Doctors In Louisiana That Prescribe Methadone For Chronic Pain (Page 4)

I have been taking 120 mg of methadone for approximately 5 years. My husbands job transferred us from Florida to Louisiana where I found a pretty good pain doc. He is now running scared and wants to take me off of methadone. Methadone has given me a good quality of life; I am able to work and be a productive member of society. My doctor is unwilling or unable to assist me in finding a new doctor who will continue my meds. Oh yeah, I have been the route of blocks and injections and gotten little if any relief. I'm tired of being branded a drug seeker-I have years of medical records that back up my claims and verify the dosages that I've been on-what drug seekers have this kind of back up? I am looking for a Louisiana doctor, but am willing to travel (within reason of course). Please help!!

Kid, it is a shame about your accident. BUT , what is cool when you are 21 or 22 is just silly when you are older,.. but methadoneman...... get real!! I was and am an ex H addict of 30 years!! THATS NOT COOL, IT WAS STUPID!!! I STILL HAVE DOCTORS LOOK AT ME LIKE I AM STILL A JUNKIE. AND AFTER BEING ON METHADONE FOR 37 YEARS...I AM!!! YOU COULD NOT FOR ALL YOUR DOSES BE ABLETO PICK ME OUT IN A CROWD. BUT WHEN IWAS YOUR AGE UNTIL MY 40S, OHYEAH, VERY MUCH . YOU SHOULD COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS, THAT YOU HAVE A DOCTOR THAT WRITES A SCRIPT FOR YOU. IF EVEN HE OR SHE STILL IS.BUT, GET OFF THIS CRAP AS SOON AS YOU CAN!!!!! UNLESS YOU ARE HARD HEADED LIKE I WAS. I DESTROYED EVERYTHING I TOUCHED. STOLE MY FAMILYS STERLING SILVER, ANYTHING I COULD SELL!! I EVEN STOLE MY MOTHERS WEDDING RING, ON THE DAY OF HER FUNERAL!!!!!! GOT ON PILLS, TRIED DILAUDID, BUT KICKING H IS NOTHING!!! I DID IT 5 TIMES. BUT METH, ONCE FOR 9 DAYS, I GOT ARRESTED IN NEW ORLEANS. MOM WAS DEAD, DAD LEFT ME THERE. I HAVE HAD EPILEPSY SINCE AGE 14. THEY WOULDNT GIVE ME ANYTHING, I WAS LOSING MY MIND, THANK GOD, IGOT OUT IN TEN DAYS. I WALKED DOWN TULANE, SNOT RUNNING DOWN MYNOSE, MY LEGS HURT, AND FELT LIKE JELLY WITH CRAMPS, I WOULD HAVE SHOT MYSELF IF I HAD AGUN. METH. WAS NOT MADE FOR PERMANENT USE. BUT I HAVE BEEN ON IT 37 YEARS AND EILL NEVER, NEVER GET OFF UNTIL I DIE. PLEASE, FOR YOUR SAKE, GET OFF AND DO ANYTHING ELSE. I HAVE HAD 6 FRIENDS DIE IN JAIL OR FROM NOT BEING ABLETO PAY FOR THE CLINIC!!! I SHOT UP FOT 30 YEARS AND STOPPED THAT THINK ABOUT IT

I live in Eunice, Louisiana and am willing to travel (if I gave to) to a md that would prescribe Methadone. Could you please tell me which mds do prescribe Methadone???? I would appreciate the info because I do not want to be on other pain meds like Oxycontin!

I haven't find doctor just yet. I had move back to California where doctor show really care. Was thinking go back to Florien and have a lawyer to sue Louisiana doctor for destroy my health. I was near death until arrive in California to survive. Checking on Internet and find leesville to provide methadone liquid but the only problem is that I have to go there everyday per 180 mg whoa I'm only take 60 mg. I will have drink quarter of it and dump it.

You'll never find a lawyer to file that suit. Now, if they had rxed you the methadone and you had died, then your family could sue. But, with the political climate, as long as you're alive, that's all that counts. Maybe when all the nursing homes in Louisiana start filling up with the disabled who aren't being treated for their pain, maybe then someone will sue the state on their behalf, but I seriously doubt it will be done even then.

If u look at me and u will know that I need methadone. There nothing wrong with you and u don't need it. I was born that way with half of my body. I have been pain for many year but at Louisiana is the one of Most disgust doctor who don't have a pain. That doctor thought that all over the world has a same pain as doctor. Dr just a stupid as black heart. In California doctor do really care. I will die without methadone. I can sue.

mike as DeafKing, There isn't any dr anywhere that can look at someone and see they need methadone. How many attorney's have you talked to about suing ? How many will take the case ?

I don't know how you are getting any relief from the meth, once your opioid receptors in your brain get plugged up, meth simply wont work, this is the reason they use it for addiction. I live in Canada and have been on the program for 15 years, I see the dr once a month he wrights the script, I take 700 mils home, and the same the week after,untill I see him again. I took a fall 5 years ago and have multiple compression fractures in my spine, we tried every opioid pain meds that there were,ext.and fentanyl patch 100mcg,to absolutely no avail do to the use of methadone, I was getting more relive from extra strength Tylenol than the fentanyl ,once your receptors are plugged up opioids simply wont work. Look it up on the net, under Treatment of pain in methadone-maintained patients....there will be better explanations there than I can explain...

Meth first made in Germany on 1937 then USA took it in 1947. My wife's mother have done sue doctor for not sprint her last 1983 and won. She has liver disease and was 65 years old and she die recently at age 94 in 2012. When she first take methadone and I have never see her work before. She work as teacher until retire at the age of 75 and enjoy her retirement for 19 years. She don't take 180 ML a day like those additive. She only take 40 ML a day. Yes I can sue.

You don't have to go back to Louisiana or Florien. You don't have to currently be living in the same state/city/town. If you can find an attorney to take the case, they will need all of your medical records, plus alot of money I'm sure.

What exactly did your mother in law sue for ? Did she sue in Louisiana ?

It is hard to find many doctors who will prescribe methadone as a treatment for pain (it is generally just used as a maintenance treatment for opiate addiction), even in PM practices. They will generally prescribe other types of opiates (hydrocodone, oxycodone, oxymorphone). If it's methadone you require then your best bet is a methadone clinic. In my experience, the best clinic anywhere around southeastern LA is in LaPlace. They are very understanding and compassionate, will work with you around your work schedule, and has fewer patients so the wait times are MUCH shorter than that of other clinics (to be able to get in to dose when the clinic opens in NO or BR, you must arrive 5-7 hours in advance if you don't want to wait for HOURS). The clinic in Laplace starts dosing at 5:30am and I can generally be out the door for 5:45 if I'm there by 5:00. In BR, to be out the door within 30 mins of opening you would have to get there between 10-11pm the night before (insanity!) I hope this helps

if you can find a doctor who prescribes methadone in louisiana it would be worth it but VERY hard to do. i got VERY lucky,when KATRINA washed away my pain management clinic i went to my PCP. To my surprise he agreed to treat me until i found another doc (which i never did) he continues to treat me to this day 7 years later but hes weaned me down from 100mg to 60mg. i would refer you but a couple years ago he quit writing prescriptions for controlled meds. only pre existing patients were elegible for treatment. best bet would be a clinic
