Doctors In Louisiana That Prescribe Methadone For Chronic Pain
UpdatedI have been taking 120 mg of methadone for approximately 5 years. My husbands job transferred us from Florida to Louisiana where I found a pretty good pain doc. He is now running scared and wants to take me off of methadone. Methadone has given me a good quality of life; I am able to work and be a productive member of society. My doctor is unwilling or unable to assist me in finding a new doctor who will continue my meds. Oh yeah, I have been the route of blocks and injections and gotten little if any relief. I'm tired of being branded a drug seeker-I have years of medical records that back up my claims and verify the dosages that I've been on-what drug seekers have this kind of back up? I am looking for a Louisiana doctor, but am willing to travel (within reason of course). Please help!!
oh man I was in the same postition. I was shot in the back and had 4 surgeries and was told I'd suffer chronic pain the rest of my life. This was in New Jersey. I had NP getting 120 a day of meth from the pain clinic. As soon as I moved to pittsburgh, PA, The ONLY way I can get over 20mg a day is to go to a clinic witch I've had to do for the past 3 years. Granted I only have to go 1 time a week now. I did have to go every day, I'm urine tested every month and treated like a herion addict. It's either this or go to the pain clinic and be treated with 80mg oxycontin and fentanyl patches, witch just made me stoned out of my mind 24/7. On the Methadone I can work. and live a normal life. It's a shame there's such a stigma attached to it.
Yes go find a methadone clinic and quick as posible or you will get sick with in 3 to 4 days of not having your meds goodluck with that..........
FIND URSELF A METHADONE CLINIC, ASAP...google it, u cant find a list of clinic in ur state and surronding states...good luck honey..
Sara, There are 8 methadone clinics in Louisiana. If you have records ask your doctor to refer you to a pain clinic. If he won't,contact one and tell them you just came from Florida or not ,and they should treat your pain. Pain clinics will give methadone if needed or other medicine for pain.
are u still looking for a dr if u r then i will give u my email my dr is currently taking new patients
I am currently looking for a good pain management doctor in louisiana. Could you share your info with me? I can explain my specifics, I'm not just a drug seeker.
Yes I am looking for a new doctor, life situations have changed now with a new beautiful baby girl, that I dont think its fair to make the kids go along. But just last Sunday i was jumped and robbed right on camera on clinic property with my children seeing every bit. I did not even fight back, im serious about my recovery and wasnt going to risk gettin tossed. But i guess i should have, b.c they arent even doing anything at all about it, sweep it under that the rug. Now im the one who is looking to transfer elsewhere, the rcm monroe is full of nepotism, double standards, and just plain and simple a joke. 75 cash a wk for diluted medication. I should be at an optimal blocking dose if it truly was 100mg but i can get high as if im not even on it. Im running out of options. Im uber sick and gotta try to guest dose today cuz its getting bad, i gotta drive from my moms so i need clinics off that interstate. Thank you all, just for the dicussion. I havent slept in 5the days, i got a few pills stashed, dilly and a MoMofeen60. Took em and body chewed thru em in less than an hour. Sweatin like a pig,,,,,,ick.
I have a same experience. I was moved to Louisiana but now I had to move back to California because my Doctors who are in California are very caring. Louisiana Doctor doesn't care about your pain. In fact, Methadone does not damage the immune system. In fact, several studies suggest that HIV-positive ,hepatitis, or back pain patients who are taking methadone are healthier and live longer than those drug users who are not on methadone. So we are not Drug User as this Louisiana doctor think.
Is your doctor currently taking new patients still? My dad has been receiving methadone for pain management over 10 years. His doctor is no longer practicing. We need to find him a new doctor asap. Please help. My email is {edited for privacy} We are in Louisiana.
What part of Louisiana that your doctor willing take new patient? I may will move back to Louisiana as Long as I find good care doctor that give me methadone for my chronic pain that I have for 30 years.

I'm 30 with severe osteoporosis, which causes me chronic pain. I'm located in covington and cannot find a doc that will help. If your doc is still taking patients, please give me the name and address. My job is very physically demanding and I really don't think I can do it much longer without help. I've tried the injections and blocks, but they don't help at all.

Judgemental often? I have diabetes, type 1, peripheral neuropathy as well as several other diseases. I live in pain even when taking my meds. But I don't judge anyone by the meds that work for their pain. Get some education before you play doctor.
Re: Kaydollasign (# 343)
I have fibromyalgia, Reynaud's disease in both hands and feet, and they believe I have the beginning of multiple sclerosis! You don’t know pain until you have experienced what I have! I thought I touched a dirty gas pump of some sort because I literally woke up. Total body aches, pain, and different colored fingers and toes!! I have lesions in my brain however at this time all they can say is fibromyalgia and Reynaud's! Which means other autoimmune diseases will be added on if life continues…. ?? This pain could make anyone suicidal. Let alone people like you can make people in pain homicidal.
Hi Sara. Here is the number for Dr Joseph Parker: 870-777-8733. He is in Texarkana, Arkansas. He was my dr before I moved from Bossier City, Louisiana. I also am on methadone. He is really a fine Dr. let me know if this helps. My email is {edited for privacy}. He is about 80 miles from Louisiana. I don’t know what part of Louisiana you live but Pray this helps. Take care and Godbless.
Re: PDR (# 4)
Yes get Your records transferred to a methadone clinic and you’d probably have to go once a week would be a clean track record you don’t want to end up dying in DTs Thany Frank
Re: mik00t2 (# 37)
Exactly!! How can they sit there and say they've been taking methadone for 20 years and they are not an addict?!! OMG, yes you are an addict, admit it. Most everyone on here begging for info for a doctor who will rx them their drug of choice, they're all addicts. Saying he will submit 20 yrs of drug tests, doesn't matter bro you are an addict if you've been on methadone for 20 years! People writing that they'll drive 2 hours or wherever to get their drugs, they're addicts!! I understand being in pain and you'll take anything to try and get rid of that pain, but I'm talking about severe pain not Fibro crap or whatever that is, the fact is most people have aches and pains and a lot of people are wimps and can't tolerate any little ache so they think they're dying so they came up for a name of this disease, Fibromyalgia. I've gone to work many days after caring for 2 babies in diapers all night as a single mom and have been so dead tired I didn't know how I'd make it through and hour let alone a day but I did. Being tired and having aches and pains is normal every day life. I don't understand how someone in their 20's or 30's has severe pain w/o having been involved in an accident or having cancer, it's not normal.
120 mgs of methodone is a whopping dose and 4-8 times the recognized new Standard of care of 100mg Morphine Equivalent max per day. Just an FYI.

Re: Jdub (# 241)
Hey can you give the name of the doctor on Richmond Rd in Texarkana? I looked it up and it seems to be an urgent care center. Thanks!
I have had Sciatica, knee injuries broken back and have been on just about every pain med there is available in Sweden and now England. Fentanyl 75mcgs Zomorph and then to 240mls Physeptone. This is about twice as strong as regular methadone. It is the best pain killer I have had and here everything is free. No one talks or questions who makes it (30 yrs ago I helped my village chemist make it up incl. what colour I preferred.) But you Americans seem to have a terrible time with meds. Which company made it generic or original? Which chemist to go to.? Surely like here and Europe it makes no difference. As long as the active ingredient is in at the stated dose it doesn't matter what it looks like or what name they give it. Too much capitalism seems to cause paranoia. Roche one of the best drug companies ever changed Rohypnol from white tablets to green with a blue filling. Sweden refused to stop prescribing after US and UK banned it. Makes no sense to ban a drug that you can't knock out people using their drinks as there are still many more that are similar. Triazolam (Halcyon?) still everywhere. Anyway back to Methadone for back pain. No it is not at all recommended here. I go to a pain clinic. The only reason I get Methadone (Physeptone) is because I have been using it for decades. They actually say that Voltaren (Diclofenic) is the best pain killer for lower back pain. Rarely they prescribe opiates for anything other than Cancer patients. So basically as the NHS are government funded they have no reason to lie. But outside of a pain Clinic you can persuade certain Drs to prescribe any narcotic you want. It all depends here on the Dr. In Sweden they have a live stream data base over private Drs prescribing narcotics too often. Here in England they don't but the village I live in have a practice where they have set up rules on prescribing narcotic medication. I am moving to a new village with better Drs. Some are like police, give them power and they play god. Don't know about the USA but glad I am here.
