BL and how would you know you are not even a pain patient.

You claim to know doctor's minds and what they will do.

As a healthcare professional I am advising you that YOUR posts are hurting innocent pain patients.

Get off your pole and get some humility!

I have been on xanax for 12 years. In 2004 I was in a very tragic motorcycle accident and was placed on hydromorphone 4mg and eventually raised to the 8 mg. My pain level is fine, but my problem is I have been on the xanax so long I don't sleep very well. They did use to help my anxiety attacks as well as my rest. I was placed on the xanax due to the death of my daughter. I have tried several times to come off of them , but ended up in the hospital with seizures. My friend just introduced me to over the counter sleep aids, but I want to make sure it it alright to take with the xanax and diluadid. I might sleep 2 hours at the most at night. I have googled and it says the same, but gives no drug interactions. Can I get some help with this matter please? It would be much appreciated.

juanita, did you read the report the psychiatrist sent the pain dr ? It sounds like part of why the pain dr wouldn't treat you is in that report. It's unusualy for a pain dr to send a patient to see a phychiatrist before prescribing for them. Have you read your medical records from your other drs ? It sounds like there was also info in your medical records from previous drs that factored in to the pain dr not treating you.

Have you looked for a pain management dr in Shreveport ? That's a little closer. But, if you have a way to Metairie that does help. You really need to get a copy of your medical records and read them so you will know what a new dr are also reading.

yes BL I have copies myself of everything I found out that the pain management in Monroe,La. sends their patients to the psy. before they treat them and yes I do know what he said he told the Dr. at pain management that he didn't see a reason as to why the pain management could not treat me I read that also.

JUANITA...Seems the attention has drifted away from you. I have not heard from you but wanted to ask if you are still looking for a doctor in Louisiana? If not post an answer to me and I'll help you out.

Posters,

Information is wrong. For years as a professional nurse I have referred patients in immediate need--death of physician or inability to obtain medication care due to relocation to go to a Methadone clinic for Methadone not these ADDICTION drugs.

Methadone is the best long acting medication for pain known to mankind. It is so powerful and the liver pass is so slow that it must be slowly increased. A pain patient in desperation might be denied in a Methadone clinic unless they allow that without finding a pain specialist they might become an addict for entry.

Any pain specialist who knows of such a patient would take them on whereas if you are hitting an addiction doctor for Suboxone you will not receive pain management.

I am really sorry P450. but coming from a family of military and, i guess u could call most of the rest..very curious workers. Before I start. P450. i do want to say that I am very sorry that u have 20+ medical things wrong with u. I am most sad that you have lost a daughter. my little brother drowned when I was 8. and with all the knowledge that I guess my young mother had at the time (along with all the children) I guess she thought it appropriate for me to watch four siblings and myself. My 2 1/2 little brother drowned that day. Because I was not being attentive enough. So I cant say how you feel about losing ur daughter. I have children. But that is still not the same. I just want you to know I am not trying to be a horrible person, when I tell you some things that have bothered me. I cant tell you why, they nagging at my heart. They just are. Im not good on this comp. So I go back and forth. I have read things since like 2014 or 2015?? I have some dementia. so maybe that is the reason, i want to say this. I really don't know. i don't know if ur a man or woman. doesnt matter. I know ur a professional nurse, as u have said..And I am sure u help people. BUT I have kind of read comments that u said to a few people, that bother me. esp. for a caregiver. you and a couple of (I guess u would call friends on here) have said somethings about a Juanita. i don't know who she is, or anything about her. but even if true. It would be wrong to say them. (esp.if true). You all talked about "well maybe she is not educated" maybe she cant get pain meds "because"she is seeing a psych" and geez! But u don't know her story. And I don't either. Dont say it is soo unusally wrong for a pain mang to get psych records. It really isn't. Not if u tell the truth. sombody basically called her stupid. Maybe she didn't understand what the DR. told her about her back. Maybe the DR. did not explain it to her, where she could understand it. Maybe she is or is not in pain. She says she has the records. Even if I didn't have mine (which I do) I am still in pain. you people question her like she is on trial. Let the DR. decide. please just help people. I thought this site was for that. P450. A Susan wrote something on sept. 17 2015. And you said something like "i do not believe any of this" something to that sort. what did u mean? And P450. You say "you are always fighting the system". Tell me what u mean by that? please I might help you fight it. i know u are a smart person. But u don't have to be DR., Lawyer and Indian chief. Well......I tell my kids never give up. So.. guess you can be anything u want. OK. i got this dumb crap off my chest. Please I know that u are trying to help people. just don't come off so gruff. Can we be friends. Sorry I went off like that. i know ur not my child. But I just cant seem to help it. be nice.

BL,

You should be ashamed REALLY do you think Medicaid claimants are going to swarm like addicts to get a few days of drugs for that is what you describe really BL. I really hope you need Medicaid in the near future so you can be in a group that you so describe yourself a part of.

Medicaid claimants are no different then anyone else they are HUMAN and if in pain require pain relief!!

P450Metabolizer, I'm not stating my beliefs. I am not receiving Medicaid. Some of our clients received Medicaid and I helped them when problems came up.

I never said that those on Medicaid shouldn't receive help when they are in pain. I didn't have anything thing to do with writing the Louisiana Medicaid rules and Laws. I am not responsible for the way that Medicaid Providers treat and prescribe to their chronic pain patients or other patients. Unfortunately, what is going on with Louisiana Medicaid and chronic pain patients as well as other patients, is not new.

Dr. Beaucoudray is expensive and useless. He is scared of the DEA. Dr. Fairbanks in Vidalia, LA will prescribe pain meds, but not benzos

Well as many people as there are asking for pain meds in that state we will see how long that lasts. I would love to know how many really need the meds or how many are getting it to feel high off of. Once again i am not judging i just wonder what the percentage are of how many people that really need pain medication? That is why there are so many laws and why people that really need it like myself wind up the ones that suffer cos of people that don't need it play with the laws and mess it up for everybody else! :-( If you don't need it, STOP IT! And get some help so people like me that do need it won't suffer.

Re: timalan (# 209) Expand Referenced Message

I have been wondering the same thing, just how many patients are legitimate chronic pain sufferers...and how many just like being on the drugs? I find it hard to believe that a patient with serious issues/injuries that can be seen and proved would be denied pain relief for any reason other than it not being medically warranted. Most doctors do try to help their patients and have no reason to deny a treatment unless it just isn't medically justifiable. They have to justify their use of opioid therapy in a patient, and if it is warranted then there wont be a problem for either the doctor or patient. So if a doctor refuses to write for opioids, or is slashing your dose, its because it isnt medically justified or considered best practice for chronic pain treatment. Many of you folks on oxy for years and years should never have been given them in the first place, or allowed to continue and increase dosages to such ridiculously high levels. A broken bone from 2 years ago is fully healed in most cases, and does not warrant taking opioids 2 years later. Its not your fault, patients, you were lied to and now you are left to suffer. No other country on earth dispenses opioids for every ailment like the USA, have you ever wondered why this is?

We have the same types and frequencies of pain, and we are not miserable and writhing in agony due to not being given pharmaceutical opiates by the bucket load forever more. Our prescribing rules are extremely strict, coz if we could get our hands on these drugs as easily as you do we would be in exactly the same mess the USA is in now! Human beings need restrictions on access to certain things because we just cannot use them sensibly or in moderation. Illicit drugs had to be restricted coz people were getting addicted by the thousands, and why not? I would too if i could just go into the store and freely purchase these drugs to my heart's content. Some things are not a matter of entitlement or human rights, or a patient's right to demand and receive, because they are too desirable and dangerous in the wrong hands. We need protecting from ourselves sometimes, for our own good, and the good of society as a whole. No country on earth wants to end up like the USA and its opioid epidemic clusterf*** that has no end in sight and no real plan of how to go about dealing with it. Your government should have protected you, the citizen, from such catastrophic harm.
