Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 87)

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!
Thx Wendy..and they take Medicaid? I do like my edibles from time to time for pain relief and sleep but I could give it up completely for a good pm doc who takes Medicaid and will prescribe my meds. Tx sweetie...how are you guys holding up?
John it is a hit and miss most wont write pain meds anymore .I had have to pay out of pocket each month 180.00 .The Dea changes med rules so offen and threaten doctors they push parients off on pain mangement. That seems like the right answer but most pain mangement places only do injections or have two year wait list . There are some on here that have secure doctors but wont say who they are because every junkie in this state will go and cause them to stop taking people .CPR is a last resort if u cant find anyone else .
Did they max you at the counter yet for it? I'm do scared I won't get my oxy next week...
Why is medicade caping morphine use ? We can only have 300 mg per month explain to me plz i take dulids 4 mg 120 per month
Hi, im moving from philadelphia to denver and im looking for a pain management doc. im not looking for nothing strong. I was in a bad car accident and separated my shoulder and the ligaments in my shoulder and have a bulging discs in my back. So if you have a pain doc in denver could you send me his info? I have all my mris and paperwork. also my email is {edited for privacy}.
Jetmech: I recently posted ( a page or two back) seeking suggestions for a PCP that could also write for pain issues. I recently got Cigna as my health insurance, and need a new doctor. I do have MRI's, records, etc. that confirm my need for prescribed pain medication.
Many thanks if you can provide any names or clinics.
Also, any law requiring out of pocket /cash payment for such services seems extremely unlikely and totally contradictory to the whole system. As I understand it, most (maybe all) of the data in the health information database (apologies if the official name is different) is acquired via insurance records Providers, insurance companies and the government have reason to keep this info centralized rather than placing the burden on individual clinics to submit records (although rx would still be in the PMP databases). Even now I don't understand the reasoning behind cpr or others not accepting insurance other than a purely financial benefit to the clinic. Most of the pain doctors I found recently do the opposite - only take insurance.
(pm = pain management, sorry if it confused anyone). Best wishes to everyone suffering :(
I too am unable to find any law that says only pain mgmt doctors can prescribe these medications. I just went to pm for the first time last week and he said pcp's are sending patients to pain specialists more and more because of the hassles, but not because of a legal requirement. Unfortunately I believe doctors are telling their patients this because it's easier than explaining this and admitting they just don't want to. In fact, my own pcp alluded to that (he isn't 'supposed to' prescribe them) many months ago but kept prescribing them. He then got extremely stingy and repeatedly threatened to stop giving them to me. I've been seeing him for years and that's his way of handling 'difficult' conversations rather than being honest and direct. I recently read an article written by doctors for doctors discussing similar tactics to avoid giving meds in certain situations (like an ER)- they write a non-narcotic rx after leaving the room and said 9/10 times this effectively 'avoids confrontation' of having to say no because people just leave. Hey it worked for my doctor, I went to pm rather than fight with him over it.
I'm not saying I know for sure either way but I believe this is the case. If anyone finds a new law I'd be interested to read it and happily be wrong about my own physician.
I heard this from Doc S .And if u have a good doctor why dont u share with all of us ?Since your pcp helps help us .
I keep hearing this, but only from this group. My REGULAR P.C.P. has never heard such "nonsense" as she called it.
Could you provide the number of the specific law you are referring to? All government rules, statutes and laws have specific identification numbers.
Hi Sherry did u call them ?There is a new DEA law on meds .Reg doctors will not be able to perscribe pain meds .There for you will have to go to pain clinics and pay out of pocket .
Jo this is a Colorado forum .Look in your state for help .
Doctors willing to prescribe strong pain medication such as Oxy 30 mg. in or near Charlotte, NC
I have herniated discs in my back. I deal with chronic pain. Been prescribed 30 mg. Oxy but the Dr. cut out writing the stronger pain meds for everyone. Most Dr's are scared of Oxy 30's but some may write the 15's but low quantities. They are afraid of ppl selling it. It is messed up. Anyone that can help or recommend a good pain Dr. not afraid to write out strong pain meds, who listens & cares about their patients, please share. Also, I need a Dr. not afraid to write out anxiety medication like Ativan or Xanax, Not antidepressants. Please share on this post. Thank you!

Hello,
I just became insured through Cigna. Does anyone know of any doctors in the metro Denver area who are in network with Cigna and can be both my primary care physician and prescribe pain medication on a regular basis?
Many thanks.
Hi Karina, I survived my first pm appointment. It certainly wasn't what I hoped for in terms of real caring or listening but it wasn't as horrible as I feared. I'll try to find a great doc as soon as meds are under control. Hope you're taking good care of yourself :)
