Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 40)
UpdatedI have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!
JaneyGirl I wasn't upset with what you said. I was just sharing my opinion. I'm not upset. :)
And by the way Bob175, Thank you for saying that. It means a lot.
Me myself I know I have put sum dr info on here many times I dont no if they cant see it or its not the info they lookin 4 Im not sure how high of pain meds my dr office goes 2 what I mean is if they go stronger then percocet. I guess maybe my info aint helpful if ppl keep askin 4 dr info then
RainbowFlowers. have you been to Rocky Mountain since Dr Ryan left? Have you seen the new PT? Do you know if they are as good as dr ryan?
I just saw dr ryan on monday n he gave me enough refills til my next appt wit the new dr. In my opinion just cuz how close me and dr ryan got no1 is gonna be better then him. He told me I have nothin 2 worry about wit the new dr I dnt remember 4 sure but I think her name is Theresa n she at tha aurora office. Dr ryan was more then awsome I cried wen he told me over a month ago he was leavin n I cryed at our last appt.He say anythin 2 u.
When u start seeing dr ryan and thursday was his last day I no were he is goin and I didnt think anyone here even took my advice and went 2 him.
I wanted to but I didn't want to burn bridges with my doc.... I was going to go there for back up.
MAC PISSED reply i'm with you there 100% doc will not increase even though he told me 2 see a dentist get TMJ noted, to increase meds ive been on 14 months My Medicare/ doesn't cover these services. I went cuz that TNJ hurts this is a new pain and I asked for an increase to 1 additional Kadian. I have nerniations, nerve damage and pain. A crazy hormonal cyst on my pituitary glad right around my optic. He wont budge in giving me 1 more pill a day I get 3 after 14 months..Before the DEA came I was getting somewhere with my Dr he offered oxycontin 7-8 months ago I declined and just told him I'd rather stay with mscontin but just 1 more a day. Anyways I feel like s*** today, I'll be ok!!
Hello everyone ,just some helpful info .RMMC in Arvada will no longer be taking chronic pain patients .I was able to see a Doctor there twice and than ask to go to pain management .Pain management as we all know is a joke .Im on medicade so right there I'm out. Univeristy Hospital Auroa ,where they take medicade doesn't do RX only nerve blocks I've had three .Ive called 22 places not one takes medicade and writes Rx .I called medicade ,they told me their not allowed to give out names of doctors .Im on ssi 721.00 a month I have a Brain tumor .I don't have the money to buy from the pill stores .The government allows these clinics knowing people can't afford or won't pay hoping to stop people from selling their Rx .What the government doesn't understand it hurts real people like you guys and myself on here .
Wendy, University of Colorado does have a pain management clinic. It does take some time to get into but they do consider the level of urgency. I've known two people who have gone there, they do try to go the Methadone route, which does work well for many but I know that they also write scripts for other meds as indicated. You may also try Colorado Rehab and Occupational Therapy, I'm not sure what they take insurance wise but it maybe worth a try. CPR is right up there, I'm not sure what they take but my insurance won't pay them directly but if I send the bill to the insurance company, they do reimburse me, so you would have to pay for first bill, do some paperwork and be reimbursed, of course check with your insurance first. Mac, be real careful with "backing up". What I'm directly saying is I agree, you should have a backup plan these days but make sure they don't write you any scripts. Most pharmacies these days are reporting to the primary doc that you have obtained scripts also. I've had a couple of issues of being in the hospital, missing my regular appointment with CPR and they have written enough to cover but Walgreen's have called CPR to let them know that I had gotten a script elsewhere, plus it comes up on your print out they run for pharmacies. When this has occurred, I have the doc or nurse call them prior to me filling the script so they are aware and I'm up front with them. I'm quite sure you are more than aware of what I'm saying but I do believe this info may help some others. Bottom line, in this environment, be up front with your doc's and you shouldn't have any issues. Lastly, I read everyday, folks going, mostly famous people, to Congress, to address issues with medical lacks such as stem cell studies, Parkinson's and such, why can't we look into taking Intractable Pain through the same system? I've been looking into this and although Congress many times many of Congress parties aren't even present but their concerns are documented. I wonder if this maybe an option for us. With even the media getting on the "dying from overdosage" band wagon, it seems that the other side of the issue should be addressed. That there are just as many people who cannot function without meds, how many more people would be on disability without them? There are folks like us that are functional, not taking more than we are allowed, playing the game as the rules state but we aren't in the news. Education is a powerful thing. When you have stupid nurses stating "years ago people like you didn't have these options", there's a real issue. Sure, oxy and MS Contin weren't developed but oil of the poppyseed has been used for hundreds of years. Just because they are no longer in their natural form doesn't mean they weren't used and more than likely far safer as one drop off poppyseed from plant to plant can change in dosage. We aren't folks sitting on the corner trying to buy H, although they are pushing many into that, we are people with serious issues that aren't able to be treated in any other manner. I'm sick of being looked at as if I'm doing something wrong and I'm looking for answers to our issues. We need some doc's behind us to be heard and I'm looking for some. Any other ideas would be appreciated.
U could try rocky moutain internal medicine in aurora on mississippi st I was goin 2 the montbello clinic seein dr ryan who does all medicaid patients but he is no longer there he left 4 another office and I think the new medicaid dr is at the aurora office. Try calling them and they wil let you know
I started seeing him two months ago, after reading your recommendation for chronic migraines and he read my records and prescribed exactly what I needed. He told me he was leaving but my appt date was right after that. I have an appt tomorrow with the new PT Theresa so I will see how things go. I always get nervous seeing a new dr, especially after having one that is understanding to what I need. Hopefully things will go smoothly.
I no how u feel n I feel like I have 2 start over I cld tel n talk 2 dr ryan bout everything n I mean everything n anything like truly best friends do. He that she is good and not 2 worry but until I meet her Im goin 2 worry but please let me know how it goes ok and im glad u took my advice n saw dr ryan. He truly does care n does wats best 4 u and doesnt want his patients bein in pain.
I can say without any hesitation at all that MS Contin has saved my life. It has saved my marriage and my sanity. Well, not alone. MS Contin and Fiorinal-3 together seem to be doing the trick for the time being. It has made me able to do something other get drunk and wait to die.
That is my story, and I'm sticking to it.
rainbowflowers,
First off, thank you so much for your suggestion and help. I started seeing ryan about 3 months ago. Now he's leaving :( , and I cant follow him to his new place, as I'm sure you know and cant either. So he has me set up to see Shaw, not the PT (Theresa?)...who are u seeing? I'm so bummed about ryan leaving! And I'm nervous about seeing Shaw...Ryan even said he wouldn't like the amount I'm on, and thats with Ryan lowering me by 1/2!
So, I'm still searching for another pain doc or center that would write me what I used to get. *don't know if you remember me but I was posting & we were talking on here a few months ago*
So, do you or Does anyone know of a pain clinic or doc, preferably that takes Medicaid, in the Boulder/Denver area?
Hope you all are doing well!
U are welcome I no I cldnt believe it wen dr ryan told me...It felt like my hear fell right down 2 my feet. I guess im been set up with thersa I have made a appt yet I had sum refills but I wil be seeing her soon dr ryan said not to worry but I am till I meet her.I didnt know we cldnt follow him. Did they say why we cant follow him and if I may ask what meds were u on..if u dnt wanna say thats fine. U are the 2nd person that has told me how u read thru my info. I just wanted ppl 2 no dr ryan was a excellent dr and did wat was best 4 us and not what he thought was best he is caring compassionate I will miss him so much he changed me 4 tha better
I am seeing Teresa on the 10th ,I was so happy to hear them tell me first off we are not a pain management clinic ."" We do not do injections of any sort ,we only do pain meds .Rainbow I could hug you right now bless your heart thank you for the help .
Do they just do migraines or other types of chronic pain? Will be good info for others who read this.
I don't know , I have real bad headaches from my Brain tumor .The office explained they need a history of meds you have been on by a primary doctor .If you have migraines have you tried immatrexs ? Doctor Fine in Littleton will give out meds and takes medicade .Dont see him if your on OxyContin he hates it and thinks us medicade waste taxpayer money on it any other drug no problem .
I do have migraines but hsve my imatrex as a last resort thank god. But is it just oxycodone control release or are they ok with the instant release? I can't take the long acting I ended up in the emergency room because of it same with methadone, I guess my metabolism might have something to do with that just a guess since I am not a doctor.
