Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 234)

Updated

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

Phoenix, I too have had so far in my experiences that yes they are not opiate friendly.....but he's also MMD doc, asks you what your goals are. He listens, usually puts you on what you're already on. First visit pricey, but damn not 500$ pricey,290 @that equals 5$ a day at 150.monthly. Medicare part D pays for my scripts. Good luck to you Pheonix , you had a divorce from what I read. I was very content with me myself and my kiddos, that are teenagers and one grown.Stay strong

Cindy, Smalls and any who are curious about Kratom. Kratom does attach or whatever the word to the Mu opiate receptor in the brain. Ancients would either chew the leaf to work longer hours. When used in small doses it acts as a stimulant. Kratom is in the coffee family. You cannot overdose on Kratom, as your body will rid of it, you will throw up from taking too much.
Some ppl get euphoric effects as well as pain relief. It's about as strong as hydrocodone/Vicodin/aka Norco. So my brain is used to Ms Contin. So once I stop taking it my brain will have a better reaction to Kratom. I had a Dr schedule me out 32- 37 days. I used generic Imodium anti diarrhea. Don't take 30-90 mgs..or else when it a time to go #2 it feels like you're trying to pass cement no joke. I've tried the powder from leaves and made a tea. Tastes terrible and did not work. So I ordered from another company both capsules and the powder, yuk and no luck. I finally found a little smokers friendly shop that will refund your money if it didn't work. Like 65$ for a good amount and good quality.

It doesn't make me feel high. I wanted to be comfortable. I was thinking of switching myself to kratom. I was tired of going thru withdrawal thru XMas, my bday in 2016 for me. Get to the Dr. And they asked why are you having so much anxiety, like doc look at the calendar it's been 7 days no meds and I hafta get dressed look decent to get to the Dr and the pharmacy (this was in Fl) my pm Dr here in Co put me back on what I was taking when I used to see him, and I'm nowhere near running out.

Kratom reacts different to each person. I'm glad I didn't switch to it, I'd be screwed. It's fairly priced and I think the gov. wants their cut, making it illegal. As far as meeting up I think we should soon before the weather gets too cold. I'm not a driver, so bus and Lyft in times of emergency. I'm waiting for my Co Medicaid, I have Co Medicare. I remember at one time Medicaid would schedule with you and get you to Dr and back, but they ended up denying me cuz the clinic was too far. That was 2yrs ago, I will post question about that in a different post.

Also does anyone know if you switch t ok Humana Medicare do they offer rides?
I have researched myself too. I can't ask about the Medicaid until I get it.
I'm going to call Humana, I like my AARP which is United healthcare I think but I don't want to give up my drug coverage if I switch to Humana.

Chaos, you've got a lot hitting you now. Unfortunately, I can't assist with any of u our questions. I think Smalls & Wendy of course are best for feedback in these areas you mentioned. Good luck. It really sucks. I'm on my 3rd day without meds and let me tell you I wouldn't wish this on anyone. Has anyone been to an emergency room? I have an appt this week but it's several days away and I'm just getting worse by the minute now.

PHOENIX
I ALSO WENT TO THE ER AND THEY WERE ABSOLUTELY WORTHLESS. THE DR COLLECTED A FEE AND DID NOTHING. I WILL NEVER DO THAT AGAIN. LOOK BACK AT MY POSTS AND YOU WILL FIND THE NAME OF THE CLINIC THAT I WENT TO. DR SHAWN GLAZER IS AN AMAZING DR. THE BEST $300 I HAVE EVER SPENT.

Hi everyone. I am up for meeting as well. I haven't been in downtown Denver for decades so don't. Know all the spots. Is there a good meetup spot near 4th and Lincoln, 16th street mall or cherry creek. Which is easiest for everyone to get to? Let me know and I can take the lead! I am assuming daytime is best for everyone, I know I don't like driving , taking the bus at night.
How does Nov 7th or 8th work for everyone?

Jane,
Thanks for taking the lead. I agree that daytime is safest and easiest. Either day works, but I would rather go with Tuesday, Nov. 8th. I rarely, if ever, go downtown, so do not have any suggestions However, a request: please choose a spot with available parking. I cannot afford to pay $$$ to park.

My insurance stopped covering Dr. Tyler so I had to find a new doctor. I don't want to pay Dr. Hong all the big money, it's worth it but I can't ever come up with that much. The new doctor I saw today doesn't like to prescribe high doses of oxycodone at all..... sucky. And my dose isn't that bad, including the Extended Release I take, my daily dose is only 120 mg. I know people on 240 of all Instant Release. S***ty man...

Original Wendy, the doc in Louisville? That takes Medicaid? I've tried to decipher who it is but can't seem to figure it out. I've been reading this thread for over a year and the last few days for hours at a time.

Bonnie, good feedback and information. The only rub is the initial 5bills. ? Co Springs correct? Fyi folks, my pharmacy accidentally ran a small script for me and they would not approve an extended release any longer. Now medicaid won't approve until 22nd of October and I've already been out since 9/20? Evidently, the DEA is taking a very personal approach but we will still find our way despite this politically charged crazy out of control environment we're currently swimming through. Keep the faith! Wendy...How do I hot you up personally?

??Chaos, Thanks chic. I went to H and it was good except the pharmacy debacle that complicated matters. I can p/up if I pay which I would if it were my normal er med but he switched me to Fentanoyl and the price is ridiculous. Btw, has anyone had experience with fentanoyl? I haven't had a chance to look yet. I'm still experiencing enormous discomfort but I just take changes of clothes and layer to feel comfortable. My 9yr old is sick with the flu this week so I think I have the flu and w/d? I've never been ill for more than 5 days with no improvement and that's a scary feeling when you don't know what is happening in your body. I feel tapped trying to manage work, schedules to Doc offices and FT school with midterms right around the corner during my oldest turning 18yrs old. Yes! Life is a hot mess right now! Good luck everyone. Today we find exactly what we need ??

I think it's great that everyone is trying to help each other during this trying time. I too am (was) a patient at cpr since they opened. Since it's the only pain clinic I've ever been to I have no idea what to do next. Went to a clinic with the letter from cpr and got a two week supply. They cut my MS Contin in half though and are trying to send me to physical therapy. I'm almost sixty with chronic degenerative arthritis in both knees and hips as well as inflamed discs and other assorted aches and pains. Pretty sure arthritis can't be cured by physical therapy. Anyway all this chaos is causing me major anxiety. I really hope cpr comes through but if not any suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

Nina, I would try Dr. Hong or Dr. Dex. Read through the chat thread and you will see that those seem to be the best docs that don't try and change up your meds too much.

NINA.
give physical therapy a chance, it will help as those muscles get stronger, they can give u movement auggestions, tips, heat, cold. Dry needling, it won't cure arthritis but it will help! I speak from experience and being older. Also being open to suggestions and alternative treatments helps prevent u from looking like a drug seeker and also helps the dr out because then they don't look like a drug mill to dea.
