Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 232)

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

Are you seeing Dr. Shawn Glazier.? (I don't know the other docs there)....as far as I know she will keep you what you are on. But I only saw her 2x 2 years ago and she even upped me! It depends upon what you are currently on but my instinct says yes, but I can not promise. Dex (the $500 intake fee doc will for sure but I know that's alot to come up . Hwith it save me time and gas having to only go every month. Please let us know how goes!! Lucy

I am not sure about the kratam either, I've heard good and bad but the federal govt is making it illegal on 9/30. Wish I would have had a chance to at least try it, so frustrating. I am willing to try anything that will help that is legal.
I would not expect an er or urgent care to write pain meds unless they were admitting you as a patient, smacks of dr shopping.
Theoretically, a dr is not supposed to just abandon patients or stop meds if they know it will cause a problem to the patient but who has the $$ to sue for abandonment and most dr's seem to disappear making just finding them tough.
Withdrawal shouldn't be too bad, although I am not a doctor, flu like symptoms and skin crawling, jerky leg movements, way it's called kicking the habit, hahaha.

When the DEA published their guidelines last year for safe prescribing, it gave the max limits and also a conversion chart showing how hydrocodone compared to straight morphine, diluadid etc so that switching someone from a high mg of hydrocodone to a low diladid might me equivalent. Everyone is differnt and the dosage that might work on one, might not on someone else.

Right now, it seems like everyone wants folks to cut down on meds, 10 years from now, it will be the opposite. It's just tough luck that we got caught in this cycle. Unfortunately, as one of my ex docs said, get used to being in pain, not very sympathetic!!

FOR ALL YOU NEWBIES OUT THERE...
Might I suggest you sit in your favorite chair, with a hot (or cold) beverage and read back as far as you can at all the posts within the last year or more. I notice alot of questions popping up that were answered just several posts back. I promise you it will be the best hour or two you've invested. You'll find names and clinics and even better, you will get recommendations as to who to go to vs who not to go to. Once you have narrowed down your search, this is a perfect forum to ask what patients think about a specific question. This should give you a wealth of information as to who TO//NOt TO SEE
CALL. Remember one man's treasure...They may say that you have to text (his contact preference may say )

I AN APPOINTMENT WITH DR SHAWN TOMORROW MORNING. EVERYTHING SHOULD GO WELL. .....I'M PRAYING THAT IT GOES WELL. 300 FOR THE FIRST VISIT AND SHE DIDN'T CHARGE ME A DEPOSIT. PRAY FOR ME AND I'LL KEEP YOU UPDATED ON MY EXPERIENCE.

Smalls I'll have to read the article on Kratom. I saw my pain Doc today and she has one patient who uses it, so she doesn't know a lot about it, but this person has had multiply failed spinal surgeries and she feels that the Kratom helps her pain. She takes a lot of meds I guess and would like to try to cut back and she's using the Kratom to do so. If you do decide to get it there are 2 places here in Denver still selling it, until they receive actual guidelines and official word of it's classification their lawyer says it's still ok to sell.

Wendy kratom is used for pain. I wrote a long post but it's being reviewed. It is still available for sale in denver after the end of this month for those interested.

I'm not a newbie. I've been following this chat site for at least a year. There is a lot of activity so it's hard to read every post....that's the point of this thread....to ask questions and to have them answered. Not to have to sift through hundreds of replies. I get that it can be frustrating answering the same questions time and time again but again that's why this thread was started and is still going strong today.

Dr Glazier is a no go. Just went in and they tried to drop me from 30's 6x a day to 5mg/325 Vicodin. Don't waste your time. They said DEA is making them stop all patients on OXY and don't do a long acting mad along with it either. I am terribly sick as well and have been going to CPR for 7 years and now I am out of meds. Have had 4 surgeries on my neck & back, injections, cortisone shots, fusions, and any other treatment you can think of. I have cancer but am in remission now.

I know everybody on here is experiencing pain but I am in a lot of pain every day of my life. If somebody can help me out with a legit Doctor it would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know, as a community we should all help each other out, because we are all going through hell at the moment.

Also we should all meet up and have lunch and Dinner one day, that way we can discuss further details. If anybody wants to schedule a day and time, post it. Hope everyone gets help soon, and I pray someone can help me and others out. I am waiting to hear back from a doc up north, and if everything goes well I will post name, number, address, etc. . .

I know dr Dex is high but it's worth the trouble but it's up there but u only see him every other month so that makes up for being high. Just don't lie to him he is cool and legit and a saver, find someone to narrow money from
