Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 230)

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

itching is a side effect of morphine. i only itch if i take too much. i have not had nausea yet from it. my normal day is 30mg MS Contin + Fiorinal 3 + 5 mg Lisinopril for BP with breakfast. Another MS Contin and F-3 with lunch, and one more set with supper with an additional F-3 if I have any significant breakthrough. That seems to work reasonably well for me. I'm far from pain free, but it keeps it down to a tolerable level.

Only side effect I'm having to deal with is a bit of constipation. I tried one weekend to use hash instead of MS-Contin to get away from the constipation, but it was minimally effective on my pain.

If you are itching, you are taking too much.

Mac, not true. My RA so far has resisted every treatment we've tried. I'm on my 10th biologic. I ended up in suboxone in a debacle. I wanted off opioids and went to a detox so I wasn't at home alone. Rather than letting me go the hell & clonidine route I wanted, Dr. Miller of Louisville thought suboxone was the answer. I was naive. So my plan is to ween off before I go a full year on it.
Blanket statements are what give pain management a bad name.

If you are choosing to get off meds and go to suboxone you have to understand that's a sign of addiction, plus doctors' nuts are in the clamp right now. Sorry to tell you but it is going to be hard to find anyone to Rx pain meds when you got on suboxone because you wanted to get off pain meds. I know that if I stll have chronic pain I would never try to get off of them. If you can't control your meds and got off of them because you were getting addicted, that's a HUGE red flag. I think you should go with alternative therapies and lay in your bed that you made because it is going to be next to impossiblee to get back on pain meds. It's nearly impossible for legit people with no addiction problems or suboxone therapies to get what they need. Not trying to be mean, just giving it to you straight. If you had an addiction problem, you take the mental strength and lower your tolerance. It's not fun but suboxone is the easy way out and this is where it leads.

I was starting to get addicted, i was using way to much medication. So i told my dr how i was feeling. I had also started suboxone. Now that i am on the program No one will write me anything. I just had back surgery 3 weeks ago and had trouble getting the pharmacy to fill my script.

CPR is not shady, many health care providers now are not taking health insurance upfront, but, you can send in med receipt from CPR after your appt for reimbursement.

I am going to CPR next week and was wondering why they don't take insurance? One of my friends suggested it was that they were "shady" and I'm worried about that. I want someone who knows what they are doing, thoughts?

Is there a reason he has stopped meds? Did your underlying issue causing pain disappear?

The reason morphine making you sick it's taking the pain away but not giving you the high most people look for .It will work for you but it's mind over matter .The nausea will go away the headaches are from the OxyCondone withdrawal .Not only am I a pain patient I was Rn .

Rainbow I take 1 Prilosec a day plus I eat with some pills as I have no real stomach. Zofran 4mg, they have dissolving, pills, and suppositories from the doc. If your doc won't write for them, nauzine from the store, lemon & honey, chamomile tea (lemon honey vanilla chamomile with real lemon & honey is amazing), ginger pills / tea / fresh / sushi style, hot lemon water, baking soda all help a lot. I don't do Alka seltzer because the aspirin in them back fires.

At one time I was on 12 - 30mg morphine sulfate ir, 10 - 30mg oxycodone (ir as opposed to oxycontin), 4 - 5mg methadone daily and a bunch of other stuff, only pain doc stuff / opiates here...

The morphine was so much stronger for me. Turns out after a genetic test of me spitting in a cup for an hour I do not process oxy due to my G something receptors. Plus I has gastric bypass 10 years ago so long acting anything is useless. Point is, we are all so different and 2nd opinions or questions should be standard. I can't tell you what a 2nd op on my autoimmune disease did for me. It's really about quality of life to me. I bring someone into my appt with me AND ask for assurances that if a new drug doesn't work within X number of days I can come back in ASAP to sort out the next move, even if it's going back to the old meds until I'm not playing catch up with my pain.

Most of the time the doctor / patient relationship isn't a favor. It's a professional relationship and they aren't doing you a solid. Once I got that out of my head things went way better for me. I sincerely hope that things get better for us all.
