Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 207)

Updated

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

Cooper, I had an internist at one point and she did not want anything to do with the issues that caused my disability, my neck and back. She told me she only worked with internal issues, lol. I switched to a regular PCP who handled ALL of my body and it's issues.

Cindy,

Thats terrible! Last several of mine even performed my paps. I went into my last (he moved 4 hour drive west to GJ) gosh i miss him already. Im going for a brain MRI in about 22 minutes so i must depart. Internal medicine isn't what it used to be just like the rest, its a friggin crap shoot. I'm really sorry you were treated well not treated as you deserve to be!

THANKS EVERYONE!
Cindy: That's good to know I'll cross that off then! L.O.L.

Smalls: I did make an appointment for a second opinion, thanks for the advice.

JaneyGirl:
So far I know I have compression fractures on L2-L4 mild to moderate, when I get home from work or in the car the pain is so intense I just want to cry, and I NEVER cry. :( The doctor is referring me to the Spine center at UCH. I had a bone density scan last week and was diagnosed with osteoporosis. I am going to ask for an MRI that seems to be pretty important.

I've had back pain since I was 21, so for about 12 years now. I am hopeful that atlas I'm getting some progress and education on this matter it's all so new, not the Pain part, but I'm hoping to get some relief soon. I was also a hairstylist for 10 years and recently decided to retire from that. bending over a sink to shampoo hair is simple out of the question, which stinks because I was good at what I do.

Thanks everyone! ::crossing fingers for tomorrow::

Cooper,
So let me get this straight, your PCP sent u to UC for this osteoporosis? Is this your second opinion or r u seeing another doc? I´m not a doc and your suggestion of an MRI sounds more than appropriate. It is much more likely to show issues involving the discs, pinched nerves and such. What I was also confused about and perhaps didn´t express myself well was what kind of help u wanted? Suggestions about the 2nd opinion or a pain doc. I would like to believe anyone u c as a second opinion would medicate u if they think a pain doc is appropriate or they think a surgeon is more appropriate. I´m sorry to draw this out and I´m quite sure u r sick of all this at this point, we just want to give u what u need and want.

Hector is still there and I have to say, he´s one heck of a doc. He diagnosed an issue I´ve had since birth. I was in a terrible cycle of going to the hospital at least once a month for horrible stomach issues and my second visit with him, he knew exactly what was wrong. It´s taken a few months for his suggestions to work but slowly the symptoms decreased to the point I haven´t had to be at the er or hospital in well over 3 months. He is brilliant.

I have a general question.....
Have any of you had your homes tested for mold? I am talking to those with chronic pain from issues other than serious injury. The test is called an ERMI test....and it is fairly expensive, but it's worth a shot. When I lived in Washington we had a house that had 3 of the 5 types of toxic mold. My entire family was, and continues to be sick...we are doing everything we can to get healthy, but after moving back to Colorado, we found out that mold is a very bad issue here as well......especially for those that live up north where the floods were a couple years back.
Just a thought that may help someone!!!

So i've contacted CPR but my doctor won't write me a referral to them because they're so far away... My other pain doc has retired, I am officially hosed... this is awful... as a cancer patient this is deplorable

Scooter,
Didnt u c them before? Do u have or can u get an MRI? There is a group I think is Spine One that will give u a referral but if I remember right u don´t have back issues but if u do, u can get in there quickly. They usually will cover u with meds also until u can get in. Hope this helps.

Anyone know of any Drs in Colorado that offer ketamine for PTSD anxiety and depression? I have found a few but they are very expensive and only administor it through iv at there facility. I'm looking for a dr that offers an intranasal form and will send you home with it. And hopefully one that accepts insurance. I have very good insurance. Any response will be appreciated.

I believe ketamine is usually NOT prescribed here in USA unfortunately. I know UK and many European counties do and have great success it. But in all my support groups etc. Ive never heard on someone being able to take that at home. ....i could be wrong though!

Ketamine is typically not prescribed as a pain management medication, especially when even Fentynl is under the scope. The ONLY person that I can think of that may have options for you is a Dr Ciacca, he´s on Parker Road in Aurora. He is a anesthesia guy that does pain management. He´s tough to get into, he only takes referral from limited doctor groups. I believe Dr Chad Prusmack, out of Sky Ridge and his group use him as a pain referral. I hope this helps and if I can think of anyone else, I´ll write but u also may want to try doc´s that do experimental therapeutic programs. They may have some names for you.

You may want to investigate the site link attached below regarding the use of Relistor (Methylnaltrexone Bromide) for Opioid-Induced Constipation. I hope you find the modality of relief you seek. Take care
