Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 183)
(Newest replies first)

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

I tried it for the first time this summer (edibles) and I hated the way I felt. It took my pain away but I felt heavily drugged so I don't know if there are like tablets or something. Well technically it was soda. When I was going to CPR I thought I would get in trouble and I was told they didn't care, they didn't even check for THC (I looked on the cup once, didn't see it)

I'm with Lucy, I'm done bringing myself down to "sick's" level. I don't care what your reason is, but if you were abusing them wouldn't you run out before the end of each month? When I went to SAS I brought all of my prescriptions and I was actually ahead on a few of them.

Another thing for seeing a "pain mgt" doctor is the cost. My insurance considers that a speciality, so the co-pay is more than double of a regular doctor.

I don't want to be on this forever. I want to have my radiation and be able to live my life without worry when the next time I'm going to be in severe pain, and in some cases, a TIA (mini stroke)

I will agree with you "sick" that some days I don't need all of my breakthrough meds. I take 15mg in the morning of the Morphine and some days that alone is enough.

Then there are the bad days, triggers like sudden change in weather (temps and pressure) lack of sleep, lack OR too much caffeine, pushing myself too hard exercising, scents, stress....and those are the days, where I'm vomiting so bad that I have to take dissolvable nausea meds to keep anything down, or go to the ER for non-narcotic treatments (Benadryl + toradol + phenergan is a common example) I'm relatively young and I know the medications I am on can be addictive, but I had 3 emergency surgeries this year, almost died (if I wasn't so concerned about jerks on here, I would share my identity...and my long story, my story is actually pretty well-known since the technical medical term of what I have is pretty rare in the way I was diagnosed...nothing short of a miracle)

I cringe when I see posts by the troll, not only from the gross ignorance, but the writing style of a teenager failing his classes. I don't understand why anyone is attacking anyone on here, pain is different for everyone. Pain medication is there to help people. If you're sticking them up your nose or taking them ANY way other than what you're prescribed well then yes, you have a problem.

There is a difference between being dependent on your medications for your pain and being addicted. Yes, if we rapidly discontinued we would probably have bad side effects, but that's with lots of medications. I have one medication that can actually trigger a TIA or seizures if I discontinue them too abruptly...so my concern is not unrealistic.

Since you know so much about my health issues, you would know that I specifically said I wanted a plan long-term to stop needing medications like this after my radiation. My radiation will take 18-24 months before the completion, which is also how long (2+ years) my husband and I will have to wait to have a baby and even then I would probably be high risk again.

I'm not meaning to judge, but I think the majority on here are educated, working individuals who just need to find an environment where they are not judged, not talked down to, etc. I've had mean doctors before, nothing to do with their prescription pad either, and its a helpless feeling to have when you can't have trust in the person who is saving your life.

Anyway, that's all I have to say about that

::steps off soap box::

P.S. - MAC has my contact information so I feel like if he trusts you then he can give you mine. I want to be here to offer/get support but the trolling is becoming more of an annoyance than anything.

& for what it's worth, I've never met Charles from CPR. I picked my medication up in person at the office that same day and the only person I met there was a woman.

Co Susie, There's been a few doctors that have suggested edibles, they believed that I'd be a really good candidate for it, especially with all of my stomach problems and nausea. I am seriously considering it but I keep thinking that I'll have a horrible panic attack and flip out, lol. I mean, as a teenager, I smoked all the time, too much I'm sure, but that was over ten years ago and I haven't touched it since. Also, I heard that you need to be careful with the edibles because they are extremely potent and some people eat too much because they're expecting it to hit them faster, but since it has to metabolize in your body like any other pill you would swallow, it's not instant (which seems like common sense to me) My brother recently got some gummy bears from a dispensary that was recommended by his doctor for his anxiety and insomnia. Well, he ate one gummy bear and about a half hour went by and he's thinking, well this really isn't doing anything at all so he ate another one. Then he started researching online how much is the normal amount to take given other peoples experiences, so he stumbled on a forum where people said they had ingested four or more gummy bears (the same kind and strength that he had) and it chilled them out just enough to lower anxiety and help with insomnia. So, my brother thought it would be ok to eat another one and after a short time it all hit him at once. He called me going on and on about how his apartment walls felt like they were closing in on him and he had to get rid of all the "clutter" in his house, that his reflection in the mirror made it look like his face was melting off. I was like geez, lol that sounds horrible! It took a good 24 hours for him to start feeling normal again and now he doesn't want to ever touch the stuff again... and after his experience, it makes me nervous to even try it. I truly am all for different treatment plans and open to different ways to treat my conditions. I've come to the realization that my health problems are not going to go away and I need to learn how to cope with them the best I can. I'm a control freak so I hate taking medication of any kind without knowing how it is going to affect me, how long it will affect me, if it will affect me too much, etc. I was prescribed gabapentin a few months back to just try in addition to my other daily meds to see if it helped at all with pain... I had a horrible reaction to that stuff. I understand it might really help one person and we're all different, it just wasn't for me. In fact, I was so dizzy and light headed, I couldn't even grasp how someone could take that stuff regularly and still function. But I know some people that take it and it doesn't have that same affect on them. It threw me into a really bad panic attack that lasted for hours and all I could do was wait for it to wear off. I was given a nausea medication in the hospital once called inapsine and I had a dystonic adverse reaction to it that was so bad that I couldn't sit still, my skin was crawling, my entire body shaking... I could go on and on. It was one of the worst days of my life. I have had other bad experiences with different meds and it just freaks me out so much. I'm rambling, sorry! Anyway... I was going somewhere with all of that, but not sure where now... lol. Well, it will come to me... eventually ;)

Sick of junkies, if you're not Charles how would you know whether or not mr s will prescribe and just weed out the seekers? That's what he told me the plan is. And they have both already pegged me as a SEVERE case that absolutely needs the medications I get. I honestly am only concerned with my conversations with my doctors and not some guy on here saying how everyone at CPR is above everyone else and that no one seeking help from S will get it. They can follow the rules, I know multiple internists and other doctors that aren't pain docs that have many primary care patients that receive their necessary pain meds and do All other primary care work. Just because they aren't pain management doesn't mean they can't help patients who are in pain, they have the choice to see them, use their professional opinion to diagnose whether this patient is a junkie or not, and follow DEA guidelines while writing pain meds for their patients. I was told the first day I went there that if your primary care doctor isn't treating your pain he isn't doing his job and they would take care of me. So your words don't scare me. And I know sick of junkies is either a patient at CPR, Amanda or Charles at CPR. And btw, whoever showed both places this forum, you're a bum. You had no reason to do it unless you want to try and hurt other people. You had no right to do it, even if you're upset that you aren't going to bank out.

Anna,
I thought I was weird until I read your post about marijuana making you anxious and paranoid LOL. My previous doctor had suggested I try it, so I went, got the state medical card etc. Tried smoking and that didn't work for me at all (long and funny story). My caregiver suggested eating the butter, cookies etc., which did work great. Very helpful. Helped with sleep, eating, and also I was able to cut down on breakthrough pain medication.
I'm not very educated on it, but there does seem to be a large different in which strain of marijuana it is. I guess the growing of each kind is done for different purposes. With the new recreational approval, I just haven't bothered to even try to get any. When the state card registration was required, I felt comfortable with the process, because I knew I was within the rules, and I knew my caregiver who provided the marijuana. I was also told there's a difference between recreational marijuana and the medical.

Getting ready to check out the websites that you posted.

Cindy,
Big WOW!! Didn't read what was happening for a day, and got lots to read about. Anyway, sorry it wasn't the cream you're looking for, hope you got the name you needed. Posted the web info for a petition (also saw that Anon fighting for people also posted the petition info) and the web info for the white house front porch, so that perhaps people can let those in "power" know about some of the problems we are facing.

It has come to my attention that several pain clinics, of which names I cannot mention, are being investigated, unbeknownst to them at this time. There is some information that I have been made aware of, some that I simply cannot share. The aforementioned pain clinic cpr, has appeared well on paper, however, several patients and health care workers have come forward regarding violations of privacy and slander, noted HIPPA violations. While the charting, drug panels, contracts, etc have shown to be followed carefully, there are other aspects of patient care that are just as important, if not more so. Patient privacy is extremely important in health care and a violation of this is punishable by law. All patients have a right to be their own advocate, in fact, they are encouraged to do so. Patients have a right to seek care with a Doctor or clinic in which they feel they are well taken care of in a safe and professional manner. I must say that I have seen and heard more than enough of my fair share of HIPPA violation and unprofessional behavior. I have been practicing law in the health care field for over a decade. Please feel free to direct any questions you may have to me. I truly hope you have all found a Doctor/ Clinic to continue your care where you feel comfortable and respected as it should be.

You are right..I need to take the highroad. I wasn't attacking Amanda's personal life, that doesn't interest me in the least. I was just talking about her professionalism at work, that's all. I don't dislike her and I liked Leonard a lot. I was very content until....

I am officially done. Back to posting only helpful info. Thx for pointing that out!

Lucy, please don't stoop to their level. Amanda is a nice person, yes HIPPA has been violated more times than I can count, but if you just talk to them about your concerns, they are addressed. Let's not attack a person based on what they choose to do with their life, how many children they have or how they choose to support their family. And I think the one poster is completely correct and I for one am not going to respond to any more posts by those two ignorant people!

Seriously...4 kids and 15 yrs pain mgmt.. I have NEVER met a office receptionist as unprofessional as Amanda...in every way! Besides presentation, a pure lack of desire to lift a finger, I could go on and on...worse was when she was talking to the entire waiting room about other patients. No names mentioned. but enough to know of whom she spoke. HIPPA anyone?

Oh lord... Sicko 1 and 2: stop trolling this site. No one cares what either of you think. Apparently both of you need to belittle others so that you can feel better about yourselves.
To everyone else: let's stop responding to these i*****... They are exhibiting classic bullying behaviors. Ignore them, and they'll go find another sandbox...
