Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 149)
(Newest replies first)

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

We did the chemo thing with Yancy (she was just at five years old). I'm glad I did it with her, but I don't know if I would do that again with another dog. I guess if I get another one with cancer, I'll have to make the call then. It was very hard. The whole situation.

I'm so glad to hear you say about your teeth and the flu as a baby. I've had trouble ever since I got baby teeth, because of high fevers destroying my teeth before I ever even got them. I flossed, brushed, etc etc and no difference. Finally got the extractions finished about 5 years ago. I am so thankful. Just years and years of miserable tooth aches, infection, etc etc.
I was glad to hear you say it, not glad that you have the problem LOL

Wendy
They are right. Don't let the ER blow you off. Hang in there and make them listen.

Wendy I hope you are in the hospital right now getting the help you need.
Susie you will probably see a change in about 3 weeks with Wellbutrin and be feeling great in 6-8! Don't give up and find out the cause of that swelling, a water pill may be needed.
We did another cancer treatment on Snowball and he literally has craters on the top of his head, his skin is just sluffing off leaving holes in his head. This will be his last treatment as I cannot put him through this again, he's doing well, we are not watching this all happen, I just pray the medicine actually works. This whole situation is making me so sad, I'm only popping in here every few days.
If I don't make it back here I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving!

Oh Wendy, I'm so sorry! I've too been having some issues and I have to say I'm shocked at the horrible care u get provided anymore without either having someone with u or causing a fuss yourself! I had my port placed for my teeth that were broken during CPR 5 years ago! It's impossible to find a dentist that has hospital privileges to do the extractions and I wasn't allowed to have my pacer replaced without them being done because of infection! U would think being a health care practitioner u would think u could figure out what to do but that isn't the case anymore! The doc actually told me my medical issues "sounded like a bad western song"!! My scripts because I had to go in emergently I missed my appointment at CPR! They had to b rewritten three times and still weren't right! I don't know about u guys but anymore not only is pain issues difficult because of the meds but also difficult because they automatically think u r in for wanting meds and not because u have a raging infection, a bp of 200/100 and a fever, it's because u want meds! It's taken me years to get these teeth worked on, the pacer wasn't as big of an issue since they cut my wires during my arrest too short and it has to b replaced every five years anyway but this mouth issue, it's like they think I did meth or something! I can't help it I don't have enamel because of the Asian flu when I was a baby and then they broke them during CPR! It's especially frustrating because the arrest was due to a nurse throwing away an ekg that showed a congenital abnormality so the doc's didn't realize when they put me in the cat scan that is arrest! Trying to talk sense to anyone who doesn't know u is impossible! It makes me thank God for CPR and their staff all the more! Believe it or not, we r really blessed to have them, they r really compassionate, caring and yes, we all get frustrated time to time but believe me, we r lucky! Wendy, push all u need to! I had been scheduled for my oral surgery, had it canceled the day before and it's been hell since then! I finally took another professional's advice, went to the er, let them c how sick I've become because of it, got a case manager assigned and finally am getting the help I needed month's ago! It makes me sad how bad our medical system has gotten and it isn't just this DEA stuff, as u know this started years ago when hospitals and medical care became for profit! Someday, we will have to share the history of why we r where we r! If u need some help with thoughts on how to get treatment and brainstorm, write me, I'll help however I can!

Oh my goodness ladies!!! Everyone needs to be wrapped in bubble wrap and chocolate!! :)
Susie... I took Wellbutrin in the past. It worked well for me... Good place to start ... And if it doesn't work, there are others. Please stay away from Prozac. Zoloft helped me in recent years.
Take care, y'all!!

Are you trying to copy my life of 30 years ago LOL. False death report, still all these years later, I can't figure out the "why" of that one. My sister, OMG, needless explaining, that didn't work out !!! Animals. Oh how I love them and oh how I've suffered with them :)
All the junk in my life back then, may be the "why" of my illness now LOL

We have all the normal stuff now, like pre mature grandbabies, bed rest pregnancy, family with Huntington's, heart trouble, blood pressure and other problems, falls while in the nursing home. Pets that die with cancer, providing a home for other people's dogs. Our own health problems. People laid off at work. All the low stress stuff LOL I think that people are of the opinion that I make this stuff up LOL

The "go to" thing that you mentioned. That's part of the mental dump I've been in. I was the go to in my world, and I'm no longer reliable as I'm sick. Really plays with my head.

In June when I got the blood clot, I couldn't put any weight on my leg (pain was horrible). I was in bed for over 6 weeks, before I could even hobble to the kitchen or bathroom. (bed pan thing yuck!!)
I spent time sleeping (you can only do so much of that) and playing games on my husbands laptop. I hate his laptop, I like my big PC :)
I'm still cleaning up messes that piled up when I was in bed. Any large project is a long time for me, I wear out and have to stop.
Finally got the cloths back under control. Instead of getting summer out and putting winter away which was to be done in June. I put the summer away and got the winter out :) Finally got all the laundry caught up and put away. We were using the dining table as a laundry table LOL. I ate in bed and he sat in front of the TV, so I guess he didn't see any real use for the dining table LOL

Susie, when it comes to anything in the antidepressant family even if it's being used for an alternative reason it can be 6-8 weeks.
I have looked at it like a new well. You have to dig the well and add water and let it settle. So 2-5 weeks to dig up the hole, 3-6 weeks to fill, and then 2 more weeks. (all over lappin) to level up. So that long just to see, yet, others see improvement in just a couple weeks.
I've got so much bull crap going on in my world. Not only trying to ween off Paxil (hardest ween of my life), but my pain dr / shrink is out on emergency medical leave.
I should write a book, all this coupled with my crazy family life...better than fiction. Between the dog losing her eye and going blind in the other, to my sister staying here not going well, to false reports of death in the family, to my illusive right leg/foot swelling to caricature like proportions. I'm past a hot mess, I'm a soup sandwich!
At least my sense of humor is alive.

When was the last time your shunt was replaced? Sometimes there's problems with cost, aid programs and insurance companies have some stupid rules on when they will pay for it. It's such a necessary thing, so why such delay in replacement?

You're right, no passing out in stores in Aurora allowed. Unless you are drunk :) Drunk you wouldn't care either way.

Skeptic, Ski, Mtn, Rainbow, everyone
I got confused again. I really think it's something to do with posts being held, then showing up LOL
There's a problem with the telephone again? That's such a scary thing when you can't reach a doctor. I can feel the anxiety and it's not even my doctor :)
Not just posts being held, I haven't been on as much either LOL

Cindy, you pass by daily cause and your son says you're "clueless" :) Seriously, why would you be looking over there when you are driving, unless that large bottle caught your attention. Then you would know where the bottle is, but not the name of the place LOL.
I have an appointment Weds to discuss this stupid swelling and Wellbutrin. You said it works for you. How long before you noticed it helping? Any side effects? I checked and it seems to have less problems than the new designer anti-depressants.

Wendy, you're right. To be honest I'm the go to girl in my world because serious situations or tragedy does not upset me until I think about it really hard for a few days and even then I'm rather calm. Reaching out for emotional support is daunting to me. Although, if ever there was a great great group that understands, this is it! Thank you.
As for rest, I had that GI bleed back in late August and it made my lifelong anemia so severe I needed transfusions. Then we found out that not only do I malabsorb at an absurd level (considering that I'm very, very over weight...malabsorb some calories lol), but that my body is very slow to make red cells. So now I have to get iron infusions, but they aren't working as expected. I did get my blood numbers high enough I can start a new RA medication, but not normal. I've been living on steroids and sunshine lol. I digress, with levels that low I'm dizzy and pass out. So driving is out of the question and passing out in any store in Aurora sounds less fun and more of a hassle lol.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

You guys want do a card exchange?

Oh my goodness Wendy, what's wrong with Lucy? What's up with Chatty? I know Chatty is bed ridden, but why? What happened?
You are so right, that's what the support is all about.

If my doctor should start Wellbutrin (we talked about it before), anyone know how long before you can feel it helping? I checked and didn't see the side effects that I had with the newer designer anti-depressants. Anyone know of side effects that I didn't see?

Watched a special on TV recently about toxic mold poisoning. A really dangerous thing. I didn't understand what tests are done and what would prompt the tests? It seems that most doctors would believe it was an upper resp. problem, unless something prompted them to do additional tests.
Sorry that you don't have the additional time to make a support group meeting. It's a really worthwhile thing. I know I can't make many of the meetings, it's nearly a six hour round trip for me. Last trip my poor back was shot before I cleared the Springs LOL. Suffered the following week, but I felt it was well worth it.
Like I said, sorry you're too busy, but happy for you that you have a hobby and a family to do things with.
