Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 114)

Updated

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

Do you have a PCP? Have you had a pain evaluation to determine cause of your pain, if possible? Things are horrible for a lot of legit pain patients who need meds. Google, a phone and a lot of courage to call each and every pain clinic you can find, are necessary to find pain mgmt help at present. Sadly, there are no easy answers. I'd refer you if I knew a clinic accepting patients. I empathize, believe me. Hope you find the help you need. This is nuts!!

On a less light note, I only have three friends left. All three have some sort of physical disability. I think they're the only friends who actually understand what's going on with me most of the time. They face the same sorts of issues. One friend lives about five miles from me. He is disabled and we are the funniest thing happening. We are always planning lunch and shopping trips, but end up actually doing it, perhaps one of ten planned events. Our plans sound really good in the making LOL.
The second friend I've known for about 22 years and she is partially disabled from breaking both her hips (different times Thank God) but she didn't heal correctly and is on pain medication, she lives in Aurora, so I see her a couple times a year. Talk on the phone almost daily, so that's our great social life together.
The third friend was in an ATV accident in AZ two years ago. She almost lost her leg and she still isn't out of the woods on that. She can't walk without braces and assistance. They are waiting until this last operation heals completely, they are going to do some replacement with cadabber (sp) parts that she lost in the accident. Ligaments tendons and such. We text almost daily, wow such party animals. God was watching over her on this one, because she had just gotten the best job of her life, where they absolutely love her. She works with a company that travels putting in solar farms. Her office is in a construction trailer that wasn't equipped for a handicapped person, but they did all that she needed, so she was able to return to work. Her company also paid for ramps and everything that she needed for her RV that she travels in. Just a wonderful company.
The rest of my friends have just faded away. I think I've disappointed them one too many times. Also, I don't do the activities that I did before, so we don't really have as much in common. They are always glad to see me when they run into me, but they don't make an effort to check in or anything like that.
Honestly, if a person is healthy, they don't have any interest in doctors, medications and all the trials that go into keeping both. At times I've tried to answer their questions when they ask how all that's going, but they don't have any concept of what I'm talking about. They say things like "well , it's hard to believe that a doctor just doesn't give you what you need. It's hard to believe that a pharmacy doesn't carry the medication that you need. Are you on some sort of exotic medication that needs to be special ordered?" No idea. I don't know if they think I'm lying for attention, or if they think my mind has gone along with my body. But their attitude speaks volumes.

Lucy and CO Susie,
Your conversation brings a smile to my face. I have an illness along with the pain diagnosis. Thank goodness for the internet, it's the main way I keep in touch with the world - others with illness and pain, extended family and friends. It's very hard to get to a doctor's office let alone gatherings. Susie your friend's ATV accident sounds eerily like Amy Van Dyken's recent accident.

Red,
All of us know exactly what it feels like to be treated like a junkie. It's especially unfair as we've done nothing to deserve it. We aren't in the pharmacy trying to get our prescriptions filled early. We aren't in the doctor's office trying to get additional pain killers. We just want what works for us without a lot of heart ache in the process.
Some of us, don't even know the cause of the pain that we live with. It makes it extremely frustrating for those people.

There's a petition addressing some of the issues we are all facing. The link is in post number 1937 which is on page 17 of this thread right now, may be page 18 by the time this posts.
Please page back and click on it. We can use every signature we can get to address the problems we are all having.

Have I been marked as a troll on this forum? Seriously. My posts are being held the last couple of days but were okay past two weeks or so. My user name is Skeptic, but that's about the current pain mgmt system, a few docs 'n PA-Cs and the Fed clamp down on pain meds - NOT legitimate pain patients. I'm feeling a little paranoid and I don't even use cannabis, ha! Thanks

Don't think it's personal with them holding the posts. Reason I say that is Sat I was doing one liners that were being held LOL. It was over four hours after the fact, that they finally posted. A little late huh?

Hi Guys! Have a bunch to say! First off, Co Susie, thank u so much for getting the petition started! I think it's our best hope in being heard! Wendy! I'm so sorry u felt left out for so long! As u know I've been active here since it's beginning and several times requested to talk to u privately without success! I am also an RN and managed a pain management program and workman's comp for years! I truly wanted to extend myself to u! I stopped and started participating multiple times due to what u guys r calling "trolls"! For quite sometime many folks didn't pass what I call the "sniff test" and was extremely discouraged when CPR started to b bashed and blamed! I've been happy with the care I received and was honestly shocked when someone took responsiblility for showing them this website yet gossip continued to occur! I joined to not just help others but like many tried to keep abreast of what was occurring and any new therapies or ideas that might help me! To say the lack of responses and the focus on paranoid DEA accusations really upset me! I'm happy that many of u r choosing a positive path! There r many reputable pain doc's out there but they aren't easy to sniff out nor get into! With folks more interested in what each other was getting and their dosages, I grew more discouraged that this was becoming more of a resource for where to get the best drugs and the easiest to obtain! I'm sorry if I offend anyone but with years of experience, it was becoming a place I didn't want to have anything to do with! Your recent posts and supporting one another, as it should b, as well as helping new folks is what it was like years ago when I joined and makes me feel good! Pointing fingers and negative posts don't help any of us, helping each other will and I extend my thanks to all who have gotten this site back on track! We r bound together by pain but that doesn't mean we cant live life and do constructive things to improve our situation! Thanks to all for making this happen! I still check in and am happy to help when possible! Take care all & best wishes!

Hi everyone,

We have seen some questions posted from Skeptic, CO Susie, MtnGrl, etc regarding posts getting held up for review, so we thought we'd shed some light. Our system basically checks each post while it is being saved for certain content which MAY require moderation (this is done in an automated fashion).

Of course, it is in place to stop SPAMMERS from overrunning the site (and is thankfully quite effective at it), but as you can imagine, many legitimate posts get caught in the web as well. So what we do on our end is try to review these posts within one business day so that they can appear on the site. You guys don't need to worry, none of you are flagged or anything, that's just how our system works.

At any rate, feel free to let us know if there are any other questions and best wishes to you all!

For all the new and returning people who haven't had a chance to sign yet.

petitions.moveon.org/sign/stop-the-judgement-of?source=c.em.cp&r_by=10582339

Marianne is going to be sure the addressee contains all the states of people who sign, so that along with the federal government, each state gets on.

Thanks. The petition was written by a lady named Marianne who I met on another thread. She's been working so hard at getting something done for all of us. Unless you are ill, or close to someone who is, you can't have any idea of how all these things impact us.
People I've tried to talk to, just give me the blank look, cause the only time they have really come into contact with any of our problems is when they have medication for the flu and they don't usually have many problems getting that. So it's all a strange world to most people. Without being ill, they don't understand the anxiety that messing with our doctor or medication causes us.
The most horrible thing is when someone has lost their doctor. That happened to me over a year ago, he retired because the clinic he was at was giving all the doctors too much grief on what they prescribed for their patients. The clinic was all concerned about numbers that they are evidently required to report to the government.
