Doctors Who Prescribe Oxycontin In Oklahoma (Top voted first)
UpdatedI have been in Pain management since 2004 in California and just Moved out there to muskogee Oklahoma... unfortunately there are NO doctors here willing to treat my pain i was on a regiment of 80mg Oxycontin 2X daily 10/325mg Norcos every 4 hours and 4mg IV dilaudid as needed for breakthrough pain... i am in search of a doctor out this way who is actualluy willing to perscribe these meds... thanks
Dr. Mary Ellen Dodd, psychiatrist @ psychiatric associates on n. Santa fe ave in okc writes anti-anxiety meds for me but I really do have moderate to severe chronic anxiety. She won't write you just whatever you want to get high, but she is really understanding and won't be hateful. **I need a pain management dr. In okc... I have a rare form of autoimmune arthritis, but I'm really young and most doctors have just written something for a couple days and sent me on my way. I really want the time released oxycodone. I feel like I metabolize vicodin and roxicodone faster than most people because it only helps for 3 hours MAX
My doctor recently retired. Due to my back and severe leg pain from herniated discs and spinal stenosis, I stay in extreme pain. My previous doctor had no problem writing my prescriptions for MS Contin and Lortab for breakthrough. Now, I am having difficulty finding a doctor that will continue with the regimen that I am on and my new doctor keeps pushing surgery. I don't want to be operated on. I have done the research and it's not worth it. I don't want to set up appointments, move my records, go for my first visit only to find that "the doctor doesn't write prescriptions for pain." Any recommendations for doctors who will write pain prescriptions in the OKC area besides Schwartz and Alhaj?
e maze.
I read your reply regarding drs. I'm in Muskogee, have had two spinal fusions totaling 7 levels and still have pain. Are there any local drs that will treat so I don't ha e to go to Tulsa. Used to see Dr Craig before he retired. Have been taking oxycontin on and off since car accident in 99. Have never abused or overused it. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Hate being treated like a druggie when I have legit chronic pain.
Pain doctors I recently moved here and have many records showin my need for MS Contin and percs for break threw bit no luck on doctors. I have been to 4 already and they act like your some drug addict even though you have all your recorded as I understand you might be able to help me get directed to a pain doc?
I need pain management doc in okc for opana and hydrocodone. Not Dr. Jenkins
Well, the first question I have is, how are you checking with the doctors about getting help?
The reason I am asking is because if you're calling various doctor's offices and asking if they'll treat you and prescribe specific medications, then you will pretty much always get told no. When someone does that, doctor's and their staff are taught to see it as drug seeking behavior.

Thus, what you need to do is set up an appointment with someone that does pain management and then make sure that they receive a full copy of your medical records, or that you take a copy with you to the appointment.
If they can see test results, as well as medical documentation regarding what medications have and haven't worked for you from a fellow physician, then they are more prone to prescribe accordingly.
I use Dr. Jackson on NW 56th. street. He will give you oxycontin and oxycodone for breakthrough. You need a referral from a primary Dr. or your old Dr. to see him. He's a pretty nice guy. You will take a UA everytime you go in. I flunked it for cannabis the first time but he gave me a break and treated me anyway. It took me 3 mo. to get it all out of my body but he could tell I was trying so he kept prescribing, now I'm pot free for the first time in 40+ years LOL. That does not happen very often. I would highly recommend him. Remember your wasting your time without a referral.

This is really becoming frightening the way the government has gotten so involved in every aspect of our lives to the point of causing innocent people suffer in horrendous pain and dictating our medical care. You can't lump everyone into one category when it comes to medical issues. And what right does the government have to be telling doctors how to practice medicine? What are they heading for? Letting us die in horrendous pain for feature we will become addicted to drugs?

Dr Ellis on south side is a pain dr

You can go to the wellness clinic of Roland Oklahahoma. you will need a copy of your medical records and most recent MRI and xrays. Its $95 a month but the first visit is about double that. Dr Myers who is one of the doctors there and he is president of the pain management association of America. They are a great staff of people committed to the relief of chronic pain.
Dont go to the welness clinic of Roland they will try to have you arrested and keep your money if they decide they want to . dr Myer is ok but the staff isnt. . .
Hi there, I'm so thankful I came across your post... I have been in pain management for about eight years now, prescribed to oxy and probably every other pain medication. Unfortuantly I had an amazing doctor, but he had to let me go, due to the fact I had a panic attack and took an anxiety medication which was not prescribed by him ( but a doctor I was previously under the care of a while back.) Due to the fact he was not the prescribing physician he had to let me go,due to all the strict rules in place now. I am currently trying to find a doctor or pain management doctor that will continue me with my pain regamine. I can fell myself slipping into a deep depression, not being able to get anything done-slowing my life down due to the pain caused with out the ability to have my medication. If you think you may be able to help in any possible way, it would mean the world to me. I greatly appreciate your time and hope to hear back from you soon! Thanks Again!
Dr Jason Jackson. Nw 56th okc
It's definitely hard to find a doctor in the Oklahoma City area that'll actually prescribe medications, for some reason Oklahoma has been named as one of the states to have a high prescription drug abuse, I saw on the news the other day that they busted a few guys that had computer equipment to make false drivers licenses and false prescriptions, which screws the rest of us that actually have pain and have medical conditions that need pain medications, and some of the few doctors that did prescribe medications are either in prison or had their practices closed. I did have a doctor in NW Oklahoma City in 2011 that retired, his name was Dr Michael Schwartz, there is a clinic off Memorial called Oklahoma Pain Center, I went there for over a year and a half, but I recently quit their clinic a few months ago cause they were complaining about my Xanax quantity that I was getting from another Doctor, the whole time I was there I had no issues, they kept my medication at the same for almost the entire time, but suddenly they wanted everyone to cut-back on their benzo intake out of the blue, so I started slowly taking my intake of Xanax down, but I had to do it slowly cause I have seizures, and one of my last seizures was trying to cut-back too quickly, so after a few months one of my last two visits, they cut my pain meds in half, then the next month they cut it in half AGAIN, because I didn't cut-back as quickly as they wanted me to, so it pissed me off so I quit and went to another PM Doctor to get me by until I can find another PM Doctor that'll keep my meds at the same that they've been at.
Unfortunately most doctors here want you on either almost no narcotic medications or just want to do inj's, which sucks.
All these people making fake scripts to get drugs are screwing the rest of us that actually need it, so they're making it harder on these PM Doctors. Makes me want to visit a Doctor out of state almost.
Nick,
Unfortunately that methamphetamine false + can be a result of some OTC meds you may have taken prior to the drug panel. For future reference I'd refrain from using the sabotaged or set up explanation for every doctor hearing such will run fearing an inconsistent u/a as a new patient may cause them undo burden and legal peril. Even those who are understanding and compassionate as prescribers would have a difficult time reconciling that accusation with fact. False + due occur for your doc to dismiss you with an explanation is reprehensible. I feel for you my brother.
Look into Roland ok. WELLNESS center
There is a methadone clinic or a pain mgmt. Clinic. Expensive and controversial but might be helpful for some of you ;)
