I need a doctor in the pgh area. I have had 11 back surgeries, chronic pain and anxiety. My pcp gave me a month to find one... Please help.

Hi there! Im Having some serious issues with finding a doctor that is willing to help me. I have state insurance and had to change doctors. I have been on pain meds for years due to my having MS along with kidney stones...renal colic...and renal reflux...I already had my right kidney removed. Anyway this new doctor sent me to pain management. they actually told me that the only reason I should be on pain meds is if I have cancer. Then ordered a ton of tests on my spine. I don't have spinal issues that's NOT where my pain is coming from and NEVER had been. He was VERY NASTY and I really don't know what to do.. Do you know of a doctor in my area that will help me? I love in Allentown Pa

Doctor now has been going to physical therapy twice a week in order to keep receiving my pain meds. I was pissed at first just not knowing when I would find the time to go but I actually find the therapy to be working quite well. Very sore directly after but noticing that in the grand scheme of things I am feeling a little bit better and seem to be developing better range of motion, slowly but better then not at all. Carmine how is the new doctor treating you?

Nikki hey thanks for the thoughts no I'm still at the same place until my appointment on Feb 10 in nj so hopefully everything works out... I went there and filled out my paperwork and bye the things the nurse said to me bout the place were going I think I'm gonna be ok at this new place but u really never know.... til u see the doc but the reviews I've read about him n between the talks I had with the staff I have a really good feeling... How are u doing are u happy with the place I gave u or just r u getting bye on what there giving u

@Carmine ....I was thinking about you today and wondering how you were doing and feeling? I remember you said you were seeing a new doc in new jersey and the 10th and since that was last week I wanted to catch up and see how you made out? Are you totally done at the UC? And was the new practice able to help? In my thoughts !

Not giving direct names of doctors on here I am sorry, but to those that are looking, if you do your own research they aren't that hard to find. Try propublica, it tells you what drs in your area give out the most meds. It hasn't been updated in a few years, but you get the jist. Vitals.com, healthgrades, check into some reviews of pain clinics in your area and you will catch on quick. It's not as difficult as people make it out to be.

Hello I was with a pain specialist for over 6 yrs and due to him being looked into asked me to find a new pain dr within the month. I live in Pocono, PA area if anyone can help with information on finding a good dr that could see me asap! I'm 51 and disabled and have so many issues, severe pain.

I hear you brother. I'm glad your finally getting some relief. It's so very true, I made that mistake just once and soon there after my doctor was deluged with addicts looking to score. Thank god that problem was eradicated rapidly (by their top shelf vigilant administrator) and those users systematically dismissed. No harm came to us genuine patients needing treatment for chronic intractable pain issues. What I recommend to those "in great need of doctors" Research, do the footwork yourself if your condition is verifiable and documentation exists there are many providers willing to treat you ACCORDING TO THE NORMS ESTABLISHED FOR THE CARE OF INTRACTABLE PAIN PATIENTS. Gone are the old days of unlimited oxycodone, xanax, soma, dilaudid and god knows what else some used for recreational purposes. EVERYONE DESERVES TREATMENT EVEN THOSE ADDICTED TO THESE SUBSTANCES but not in the way pain patients are cared for. For those addicted there are wonderful options available. Methadone, Suboxone and Clonidine to name a few. These treatments can be life affirming and shame should never preclude you from seeking care. I come from a family ravaged by this disease so I can speak to the destruction active addiction poses to all parties concerned. Hold your head up high and simply ask to get well...... Brayden, sorry i was told to no longer give people Dr names for someone I know and trust in the field due to too many people that truly don't need a doc who screw it up for people the do like me n Nikki. I required a lot of info from her b4 I gave her the name. I'm sorry i can't help anymore. I wish u luck and with a post like urs a lot of people won't be willing to help u. JUST AN OBSERVATION.

Nikki. Hey so I finally found a new doctor in nj.. a few days ago I went in n filled out my paperwork and have an appointment on the 10th of next month everyone at his office was so nice and the review I read on the doctor were amazing so hopefully everything goes well there that way I don't have to go to the urgent care n e more but I'm glad ur happy with him... I suggest u don't give his name out (EVEN THOUGH I GAVE IT TO U) otherwise too many people will go there and abuse the place and Ull end up loseing him... SO beware there's a lot of fakers on here n it's because of them y it's so hard for people with real issues like us to find a doctor n e more....... SO keep me updated on ur progress and I'll do the same

Hey would you mind letting me know about the urgent care doctor I could visit? I was struck by a car walking across the street (they failed to stop at a red light & stuck me) & since the accident I've been passed around from DR to DR being told this person can help you out.. and every time I've got the same story & yet to receive the medical help I need. I really appreciate your help! Thanks in advance.

He only want to give me 4 20s a day n I was on such a higher dose all thar amount does is not make me sick it's not enough to make a deny in my pain my tolerance is very high but I had n appointment today n he said my next appointment he'll bring another doctor into consult with who might feel comfortable to give. Me higher doses...ARE U HAPPY WITH HIM

@carmine .....yep same one. He was very nice but didn't really take the time to examine me much, told me he was just there to treat my paun, looked at my MRI but nothing else. He said it was pretty bad (result wise) and perscribed me 4 a day. Why isn't he helping you anymore?

The very valid reason why specific names and medical practices listed are prohibited from public postings is exactly as you stated patients whom have no medical need for these powerful opiates come across prescribers willing to use opiates as a modality of treatment seize on that opportunity flock to these docs and before you know it the DEA are closing them down leaving legit sufferers out in the cold. Hope that clears up any confusion you have regarding this matter.Unfortunately according to cbs news affiliate in NYC tri state area led yesterday's evening broadcast with the story that practioners here beginning January 3rd 2017 Alternatives to opiate/ opiod class drugs used for pain in general practice will be eliminated and an emphasis on NSAIDs or more holistic approaches for moderate pain control.Stating federal guidelines enacted in March of 2016 were ineffective in qweling the excessive use of these habit forming substances so further restrictions need to be established.According to this report NYC northern NJ and Connecticut prescribers proportionately over prescribe these drugs at an alarming rate.Just preparing the folks who have follow ups in the new year to expect this new wave of intrusion. Sorry but I'm just the messenger. I suffer like most finding adequate relief in the northeast as well

There is no way anyone can predict or guarantee you a drug,dosage or quantity no less without the benefit of an appropriate medical evaluation to decipher if you suffer from a legit. Condition that requires the use of these powerful controlled scheduled narcotic opiates.
If your condition warrants continued pain control its best you contact your pcp or pain specialist. The days of unlimited indiscriminate prescribing of these drugs are over and unfortunately for those truly in need we are forced to suffer or jump through hopes to find access to a reduced and limited amount as a result of this crisis. FACT!!!
