Nikki,
So unfair. I was forced to go on suboxone bc of my pain dr suddenly shutting down & giving NO referrals. I hate to lie about the situation but ur probably right and damn it its so unfair. The brown st dr i hear he only gives Norco 10mg. But of coarse thry wont start me out on anything high dose off the bat. This hole thing sucks. Don't know wht to do. My insuramce jas beem payimg for the sub for the last 8 months Dr appt and rx so i maybe screwed period with insurance paying for rx
Sigh......just the thought of spending the rest of my life in pain coukd make me cry

Tara,

I agree with Nikki. Even if you are on the subs for pain management, I imagine most doctors do not go that route unless the patient is admittedly at high risk for abuse/addiction. If you want to discontinue subs in favor of more traditional pain medication, I probably wouldn't disclose that info, unless absolutely necessary. I'm not sure if it will turn up somewhere else for them to see. It's hard enough finding a doctor to take your pain seriously and feel comfortable prescribing certain meds. I imagine that factor would increase their hesitance in prescribing. Just my opinion.

Tara, if you were looking to start doing paid management again personally I don't know if I would tell them that I was on a Suboxone maintenance program. Even if it was for pain. Most doctors when they see that you are on a Suboxone program think that you are addicted to opiates and I hesitant to prescribe . I know personally that in my pain management practice they do operate a sub program to, and if they see that you were on the sub program they will not prescribe opiates to you ever again. It is pretty unfair but be careful with what you tell them.

Also he doesn't accept Medicaid. Most of them don't. You need to pay cash per visit. I know mine is $80 cash every 2 weeks, but I am lucky that Medicaid picks up the cost of my RX.

Q, the doctors aren't anywhere near Lancaster County, they are Stroudsburg/Allentown area which is about 2 hours from you. Look up pain management clinics in that area on East Brown Street. Good luck!

Q,

The Medicaid issue will be a problem for this so called doctor. Cash is what seems to work best. Medicaid draws the regulators in and they choose not to be under the tight scrutiny of such. Now private insurance companies are a different story since they can easily pad the bill for unneeded inj's and diagnostics. No matter who you see for any hope whatsoever to be considered for oral narcotic containing opiates/opioids medication therapy, physical therapy is mandatory. If you can meet those standards I can recommend someone in your general vicinity.

Can you give me the quack doctor. Just moved here from Arkansas and is having a hard time finding a doctor. Hard to find a doctor fast who would prescribe if you are on Medicaid and you have to pick a pcp fast. They dont give you time to find one and try them out to even consider the best one for your pcp. Also im in the lancaster county

Can someone direct me to a doctor in lancaster,pa that would prescribe pain meds. Just moved here a month ago and its hard to find one especially if you on medicaid you have to pick a pcp asap, they dont give you time to find and explore the right doctor.

Nikki,
I'd love both, compassionate & pain relief. But if i have to pick 1 if would of coarse be relief. For 8 plus years my pain was controlled with oxy...u know started out 5mg 4x a day..and then kept upping me...the last 2-3 years was 30mg 6 times a day....im sure i wont get that again right off the bat brinf that ive been off 8 months and on the suboxone (which i totaly dislike-doesnt help pain as much)
I have to start all over woth MRI and whatever else...last Dr is shut down and isnt releasing records.....crazy right? Has to be illegal.
Anyway thanks so much for all ur replies. Best of luck 2 u too. Ttys

Tara, he is a quack from what i hear too, but, he's prescribes meds. I know a few people that go to him. Personally I really don't know what you're looking for you know . If you're looking for a doctor that really cares about your paid and what you're going through I wish you all the luck and Friday at one as I still haven't found one that's very caring and compassionate . However if you're looking for pain management and to get out some form of pain medication , whether he's a quack or not that would be your guy to go too. You may want to check out some urgent cares in your area as well some of them in Allentown have a pain management programs. Good Luck!

Tara, I know a few people who go to Dr Beth Cohen for pain management and get prescribed pain meds as long as they attend physical therapy and have legit records and copies of a recent MRI. I also know someone who goes to the Comprehensive Pain Center on Tilghman street in allentown, and there a few pain mgmt clinics in east brown street near the hospital. I personally never went to a doctor there for pain since it's about a 45 minute drive for me but if I ever had too, I would. From what my buddies say it's fairly easy to find a dr in the stroudsburg/Allentown area that will write scripts for pain meds. Good luck in your search. There is also a website called ProPublica that will tell you which doctor in your area prescribe the most meds of whatever you were on or feel you need, you may want to check that out as well. I will say that anymore when doctors write script they do require some form of physical therapy or other kind of care as well, which sometimes helps and sometimes doesn't, but I guess it's the price we have to pay for some relief!

Don't worry Carmine I'm not sharing our doctors info, I am going to give my old doctor's info because he was a help to me, up until he threw me out, which was half my fault for not showing up for the pill count, although I just started a new job and he didn't give me adequate time and expected me to be at the office in an hour, which wasn't possible. How have you been doing by the way?

And Swish3, you may want to look into Dr Kurt Moran in Scranton. I was seeing him for a few years and besides getting inj's. in my trigger points I was on 2 different types of pain medication. He will give you what you want/need as long as you follow the rules of the practice. He does do random U/A's and does call random pill counts, but as long as you are following the rules, you will make out good at his practice!

Hi Nikki,
I know the deal with how scary it is to give others ut pain mngt dr info, trust me i get it. I usually dont give my dr info out either i have had 2 pain Dr in the last 8 years and they BOTH shut down, not sure if it was them getting greedy or some of yhe suspect patients they treated, either way it stinks. I was put on a position of desperation & went to a suboxone Dr... ( another story id love to share if anyone wants to know) now after completed the sub program (which was a painful struggle) I feel the best thing for me & my quality of life is to do Pain Mangt again. I live in the Stroudsburg Pa area & there is such an epidemic of opiate abuse that finding a honest pain dr has its challenges. I have several ligit diagnoses that does require pain mngt. Anyway best of luck to everyone dealing with all of this...my heart goes out 2 u. Any suggestions would be helpful & extremely grateful. Thanks for listening ??

What quick care prescribes Pain meds ? My husband and I travel all over the US for his job and has had back surgery shoulder surgery and has been taking Tramadol. It is the best thing for him, pain and sleep wise. He has tried a ton of other pain meds. Some make him faint , feel funny and even sick. We do not know where to begin and what to do-
