Hi, I have been trying to do everything that my mind, body and higher power would Help me with through the Last 6 months. But I honestly without no doubt, am at the end of my rope!I have not slept well in these months!! So many nights & days I've lost just because Of just being miserable with in myself because of my especially most of lower back, neck and migraine, and having just headaches daily. Even the 20 min household daily routine, I am hating to do because of the pain and because am exhausted! !Then am so mad at myself because am falling more and more behind. My pain management Doctor, whom was Wonderful! Can't write Any Narcotics until who ever made false statements about him. I think it was a couple of the women he let go 3-4 yrs ago. They wore not Happy! !Anyway
He always did it all by the book! Shame now all this time, paper work,etc..has to be wasted! I need a caring Dr, who takes Blue cross, blue shield, for Migraines, Fibromyalgia, arthritis, chronic pain, in the Stroudsburg area, and is within 30 minutes from me. I was on fentanyl and oxycodone. I really need to get back to seeing a pain Doctor. My Life/world is a total upset. Somebody Please help me with some information. Thanks. There is only 1 by me. So if anyone needs his name let me know? I use to go there yrs ago, but switched because the female Dr I went 2 retired from the pain management and went to the local hospital!

Can you please, tell me the name of the doctor, you go to , I live in the east stroudsburg area, and Ian in legit pain, I have Not and med lists, and I haven't SLEPT for more than 4 hours at a time, I feel so hopeless and alone. On top of all this my husband has liver cancer and his whole family expects me to take care of him, which I have been the only one standing by bis side for 23 years now.I have no quality of life, just pain, pain, pain and tears, while I have to stand and cook him blast lunch and dinner, everyday with all my pain. And these drs where I live are very rude and condescending.

I am in the Lehigh valley or philadephia area and wanted to see if anyone could help in finding a primary care doctor who will prescribe oxycodone. I had a good one I was using due to my herniated disk, however he moved and haven't been able to find another doctor anywhere with-in 2hours. I know PCP's can write for it, because mine was in the past with no problem, however I guess a lot of them are unwilling to do so.

Hi Mick! I hope you're doing ok today! A PCP can write your script, once maybe twice in an emergency situation but long term you're going to have to be under a Pain Specialist care to fill monthly scripts for narcotics. It sucks but it's true. Thank your American federal government for that. From the President to the DEA. And your state's Governor and the Pharmacy Board. Has your PCP moved already? If so, is a new PCP in the office? Who has your records? You'll need a referral to a pain specialist and having the records of your treatment thus far is basically imperative. Do you have insurance or is your's a workers comp situation? Insurance Co can help you find a new PCP. Or Google search "primary care drs within 25 miles of Leigh Valley, Pa". There's a ton of drs in that area! If your problem is for example a back pain issue, your new PCP can examine you followed by a referral to an Orthopedic dr then Orthopedic dr can refer you to pain management. If I may give a couple suggestions re: what NOT to say to the scheduling person at a new PCP office when calling for am appt. You don't want to say "I need a prescription for ______(narcotic) because of back, shoulder, head, neck or whatever pain". That will get you a quick "dr so and so isn't talking any new patients at this time". You'd want to ask for am appt because:

A. You need a new PCP because yours moved away.
B. You have a really bad back ache, you tried lifting something too heavy and felt a sharp pain.

Those two things should get you in the door quickly without revealing your chronic issue. Once you're in the exam room, alone with your new dr tell him about your pain problem but DO NOT ASK FOR A SPECIFIC NARCOTIC or any narcotic for that matter. Just be very honest about the pain and how is interfering in your daily quality of life. Don't try to down play it. Don't be Mr Stoic. Don't be shy about it. Tell it like it is. If you feel like crying, cry. It sucks to have to go through all that but since your old PCP didn't set you up with a new PCP, which he should've done but it's too late for that. Lesson learned right? Never let your Dr move away without getting set up with a new one! I'm sorry for your situation but that's the world we're living in.

Last year I was sitting inside a Walgreens pharmacy waiting for a prescription. I could see the people who pulled up to the window. See and hear the conversation. A couple drove up in an SUV and said they were here for a pickup for whatever name. So the girl goes to get and returns with the script which has a note attached and has now been written on by Walgreens so called pharmacists etc..the girl says, "we can't fill this". "Why?" The man asks. The girl goes back to the pharmacist and whispers something then returns to the window and stutters "it doesn't meet our criteria for this amount of narcotic. You have to see a pain specialist". I felt like screaming "take the prescription someplace else! Explain you didn't know you had to have a pain specialist write the script for the medicine you've been taking for a year for your pain! That you'll see about getting in with a pain specialist but for now you really need this medication!".. I considered running outside to see if I could catch the people. Finally decided I couldn't run that fast. Those bastards. They couldn't have filled the script but tell the customer next month it would have to come from a specialist? SURE they could've! I got the prescription I was waiting for which was not a narcotic. Left the store, went home, got on the phone & had my other scripts with refills transferred to the pharmacy at the grocery store I shop with. That was the last straw with those people. I doubt it'll ruin them but I'll never shop there again. Grrrrr. Please let me know if there's any way I can help you Mick. I'll do a search for you if you like, just let me know if yours is a workers comp case or not. There are Dr's who'll treat you, it's just a matter of finding one??

Trobin52, Would your PCP help you find a pain management Dr? Do you see a Rheumatologist for your arthritis and fibromyalgia? Is there any specialist or PCP in your life can assist in referring you to a pain manager?

Hi Toni! Could the Dr who's been prescribing the medication you're needing refer you to a pain management specialist? If you're waiting for surgery perhaps the surgeon could help you find someone. If not the surgeon, your PCP should be able to help you get in somewhere. You'll need a referral from a physician of some kind to get in the door of a pain specialist, no doubt. Please let us know how everything works out for you!

MAMA, I'm truly sorry to hear of your predicament. Care givers need to be taken care of too! Tell your husband's family members you have an appt with a Shrink for your severe depression and stress(not that you're really depressed but it sounds like you are). Even if not true, get someone over there while you go to the local park or somewhere that you can put your feet up and feel the sun on your face! Your vitamin D level is likely too low which can zap the energy among many other things. To your pain, make an appt with your PCP and tell the PCP of your significant pain & stress. If your PCP is rude and uncaring, find a new one. Your insurance carrier should be able to assist you with finding a new PCP. You'll need the support of your PCP to see a pain specialist there's no doubt of that. Please let us know how you're doing!

Thanks kiekee....Ill explain my situation alittle better I have had l3, l4, l5 herniated disks for the last 10yrs and i was seeing a pain management doctor in sc for 8 yrs no problem came back to pa saw a pain doc an everytime i saw this doctor he devressed my meds so a friend told me about a pcp who writes for my pain med, i went to see him for the last 6months and he had no problem writting my scripts i saw him every month, so i decided to stop seeing my pain doctor and just see the pcp bc you cant have two doctors writting the same narcotic med....the last month i saw both doctors and my pharmacy decided to call my pcp even though i quit seeing pain management that same month and now bc of it my pcp wont see me anymore.....so my question is how can i find another pcp who is like the pcp i was seeing they are out there i just dont know how to go about finding another one who has no issues writting it, i have no issues seeing a pcp and pain management bc i have no doctor at the moment who will prescribe....so that wont be an issue moving forward i just need to find another pcp who will help

Mick, I'm sorry to hear about your crappy turn of events! Your question of finding another PCP dr willing to write your meds is a very good one because I honestly thought those guys were extinct! Did the pain dr get a call from the pharmacy too? Did the PCP send you a registered letter or they called you to say they wouldn't see you again? If you only saw the 2 Drs both in same month once, couldn't you claim you didn't know you weren't supposed to do that so you took opportunity to have extra meds on hand in case of an earthquake, apocalypse or drug shortage? OK that's kind of a joke but if it only happened once then the PCP might be understand and give you a second chance. I'm assuming you didn't sign a narcotic agreement with the PCP? Can you still see the pain dr? I believe the PCP you were seeing is a rare thing these days. That or he has a pain specialty clause in his PCP license! Here's what I ultimately think is your best chance of getting the meds you need. First, find another PCP. Tell the PCP about your spinal issues and the pain you have. He'll either write your meds for you or refer you to pain management. Do you have any x-rays showing your back problems? If your former PCP dr has them you'll need to get those back because you don't want the former PCP sending over your records showing your indiscretion. In fact, if you can I'd leave the former PCP out of any conversation with potential new drs. I think you're a good person, Mick. One screw up shouldn't define your quality of life. A pain clinic where I was a patient had me sign a narcotic agreement. They gave you 3 strikes. I had an outpatient surgery once and accepted a script for 10 Vicodin from the surgeon. My husband took me home them went to get the scripts. Swear to god when I went for my pain clinic appt 3 days later I was made to sign an "occurance" slip! It was like "all seeing all knowing". You do realize there's a registry for all controlled substance scripts right? Your name, ss#, where, when and what the script was for is on it. I'll think about this some more. Stay in touch and if I think of anything else I'll contact you thru this.
