I have recently moved to the Pittsburgh area and have been on opiates for 23 years however I have also had multiple surgeries and inj's. over the coarse of 26 years. If u can help me locate a decent Dr. That can help me I would really appreciate it, it seems like people look sideways at patients w chronic pain conditions and it's just not fair!! I do not miss use my medications like everyone assumes I just simply cannot live without the help of the meds. Thank you for your time and god bless
I am moving to Allentown pa I'm receiving a prescription for oxycodone 30 MG can you provide me with a few names of Dr's I can see
Hi Kat! I do not know Dr Razzack from personal experience. A very nice couple a few doors down told me about him when the subject of Chronic Pain came up in general conversation one day. This couple are in their early 60's. The lady recently survived a stroke & is left with a significant speech problem. There's a misfire between what she wants to say in her brain and what actually comes out of her mouth, plus she has tremendous pain in her left side. No real explanation for it. Explanation or not, she suffers! I know she wears a patch with an extended release opioid medicine & she has an immediate acting ....something. Morphine I think. A low dose of quick acting morphine which does help within 20 minutes of a sudden intense pain event. They see Dr Razzack & speak very highly of him. Someone commented on this thread that the Hospital Dr R works out of or Dr R. doesn't prescribe narcotic medication. I can only speak as to what I know about my neighbor and that is, the husband drives the wife over there once a month, she sees the Pain Specialist, Dr R & is prescribed what i mentioned before.
I do have personal knowledge of Steven Sheakoski who was a very fine Dr when I saw him years ago. Dr S left the clinic I was attending and I decided to stay where I was which was a mistake because 2 years later the clinic was "raided" and closed for a period of time while they sorted out their medicare over billing issues. They did reopen only to close suddenly a year later. 2 days before Christmas. A Dr there wrote a final prescription for his patients which was nice however there wasn't a Pharmacist in town who'd fill the script. Merry Christmas!
I've personally been thru hell because of the shortage of Pain Management Dr's in the area. I was referred to the clinic Dr S is with now however, my appointment was with Dr S's PA, who I saw twice and was without a doubt the most sarcastic, unprofessional, just plain mean human being I've ever had to deal with. After the 2nd visit with her I asked the receptionist if I could just please have an appt with Dr S. Dr S only treats cancer patients at that time. I never returned. BTW, tho I was evaluated for drugs (clean) both times I went to the appt with the PA, she told me she wouldn't prescribe me any pain medicine because she thinks it's not recommended for my syndrome which is the biggest crock of.....She didn't know a thing about my medical dx.
There are other Dr's at that clinic. Tiffany Pain Management aka Mahoning Pain. If you can get your PCP to refer you there make sure to specify you need to see the DOCTOR. Any hospital within driving distance has a Pain Clinic associated. They don't advertise that. The Dr taking care of you for your medical problem should know about it and be able to refer you to any of them. I just spazzed out and deleted some important things from the end of this post. I promise I'll return with that info but I have to go for now. Dang, I cannot believe I just did that!!
Karen, Just a quick question about your primary care dr. Won't he refer you to a Pain Specialist? You'll need a referral to make an appointment at the Pain Clinic. In fact your PCP should make the referral and someone in his office make the appointment for you. Do you have a GYN Dr you've seen for the medical problems causing your pain? That Dr would be a good candidate for a Pain Specialist referral!
I know some doctors.. If someone would help me find a doctor.. I can help them.. My doctor is trying me down.. but I am prescribed 150 30mg.. He does take new patients..
How do you reply to someone? Also what is the doctors name that is retiring?
Whats your doctors name that recently retired .. I might be able to help you get a new doctor
My gyn doesn't believe in pain management. She says I will have to learn to live with this the rest of my life since some it is scar tissue.. It is hard to find good doctors up here... I don't really have a primary I go to walk in centers when I'm sick. I do have a neurologist for my migraines he as well does not believe in pain management. He believes in Botox. Which I do not. Between the migraines, cysts polyps, endometriosis, scar tissue from botched tubal ligation, them manually removing my placenta and tearing it, an exploded tubal pregnancy.. I'm a hot mess .. Constant abdominal pain... I don't know how to begin to get a Docter who will help me .. Tired of hearing take Midol ...
Karen,
Your situation sounds SO much like a friend of mine who suffers endometriosis. She's been thru birth control pills & shots in hopes of helping with her monthly period pain plus various ovarian cysts. For at least three days every month she's in misery. In bed with a heating pad. Her dr here prescribes 500mg ibuprofen which doesn't help. Like me she moved here from another state. Another state where her GYN provided her enough Vicoden to get thru those things. In Northeast Ohio it's unheard of to have a narcotic on hand for severe menstrual cramping. She's told me her dr "doesn't prescribe narcotics" for any reason. I just don't see the harm in it and if it'll keep her able to work and take care of her child all the better. Your migraine dr very likely makes a ton of money giving botox. That answers that! A good primary Dr could be your saving grace where pain management's concerned. I know she or he can't provide your prescription meds but they can and do make referrals to pain specialists who could. I wish you the best. If I come across a miraculous pain specialty clinic I'll surely let you know!
