Updatedhello so heres my question i am looking for a new pain management doctor in either the 5 borrows or in new jersey that prescribe roxycodone/oxycodone 30mg i currently have a doctor in staten island who was prescribing me 45 roxys bi weekly then uped me to 60 30mg roxys bi weekly now he has me coming in every week and lowered me to 20mg oxycodone 30 a week i told him this is not enough for me but he dosent listen to anything anybody says also i have a job and work 5 days a week he wants me to come in every friday but i cant because of work but when i tell him i cant come in every week because i have work let me come on a day i have off im going to loose my job he ignores me and just says its ok just come next week like im just some jerk off i also told him the 20s are not enough its not working im still in pain again he ignores me and says its ok just come in next week this guy does care he wants me to come in every week cause hes banking my insurance out with these weekly visits i never heard of any doctors prescibing this medication weekly or bi weekly almost every doctor does monthly visits... so what i need is a new doctor that is willing to prescribe me 30mg roxys and thats not going to judge me or just try to give me some other type of medication because i litterley have tryed every pain meds known to man and this is the only thing that acually works. i was in a bad car accident in 2008 and i have a slipped disk 3 buldging disks and a herniated disk in my lower back and with my job im on my feet all day long so my pain has got so much worse since then i cant stand longer then 2 hours at a time because mt whole back just starts locking up and the pain is there for hours even when i take my meds it takes a while to go away it sucks.. so another problem of me finding a new doc is because i am only 22 and most doctors are not willing to prescribe someone my age this medication so i need a doctor that will give me what i need without judgement and without trying to give me non narcotic pain meds or very low dose pain meds because there not going to workand i dont even want to waste my time and my insurances money. i am willing to travel to any of the 5 borrows, long island and even jersey as long as i can get a monthly script ill even do bi weekly but i cant do this with my current doctor i have an appointment friday and i dont feel like loosing a half day of work for 30 20mg oxys thats going to be finished in 3 days its not even worth it anymore i tryed talking to my doctor but dont listen to s*** that i say and it gets me really annoyed so please if anybody can help me with a new doc you dont know how much that would help thank you very very much any answers are greatly appreciated..thanks

PhillyB, if you're still interested I know a doctor in Staten Island for you! I've been seeing a pain mngnt doctor for the past 10 yrs. One retired and the other became a problem but I'm sure the doctors I know would help u and others here!
Starlight I have a question I am going to call and try to get an appointment with dr Sloan just wondering if you think it's going to be a problem if I'm honest and tell him that since leaving my doctor in July I couldn't find another doctor and couldn't be sick so I ended up taking my husbands methadone not to be sick. I'm only taking 10 mg a day but I would rather be able to be honest with him.
Hi, I believe that no one should have to live with pain. I cannot agree with your statement that doctors make people turn to illicit drugs because they don't want to order pain medications. Yes, some doctors are skeptical about ordering pain medication, especially long term. People do illicit drugs because they want to. A lot of doctors are now being forced to adhere to certain criteria due to regulations. I myself get upset when doctors don't prescribe what I think they should. I myself suffer from bilateral knee osteoarthritis, sciatica, and rheumatoid arthritis pain. Still, even though I might be upset about doctors not ordering what I feel will help me. I am conscious that the doctors have a medical license they want to protect. Doctors can have their license revoked or worst if they are found guilty of over proscribing. A lot of these regulations came into play because there is an epidemic of addictions to prescribed pain medications. When it comes to pain management, the goal is to titrate down not increase up. I have been on a lot of narcotic pain medications. I went on pain medication under the care of a pain management doctor. I had monthly visits. I would leave her office with a script for 180 tabs of 30 mg of oxycodone, 60 tabs of 10 mg of Percocet, 120 mg of nucynta, 30 tabs of Restoril, 60 tabs of 1 mg Ativan, Vicodin and sometimes fentanyl patch. All at the same time. I had them filled at the same pharmacy every time. The pharmacist never question the massive amount of narcotics I was taking. Even though I had legitimate pain, eventually I started to over medicate myself. I was taking these narcotics due to legitimate documented pain. I also had to acknowledge the fact that eventually I was taking them to feel high. I never entertained the idea of why I was given so many different narcotics, I was just happy to get them. Most of the time I would finish all my meds in 3 weeks then go through withdrawal until my next appointment. They always do a U/A every time I go and I guess my results were OK because they never said anything to me. In my head I was puzzled because I knew I was not following the doctor's order regarding when to take them. In my head I said, my U/A is probably clean and the doctor would question why. U/A's are done to check for the narcotics that are prescribed. It should be positive for the narcotics you are taking. It lets the doctor know that you are taking them and not just getting them, and selling them. I would have black outs, memory loss, decreased urination and my legs would swell up.
Sometimes i would fall asleep sitting on the toilet for hours. I would fall asleep standing up for hours. As soon as I stop taking them, I would urinate like I was on a diuretics and the swelling in my legs would go down. I went through a lot of negative problems. I hit my rock bottom one day and I OD, 911 was called and I was taken to the hospital. They took care of me in the hospital and I told them I needed help. They were going to set up out-patient help for me. I thought about in and realized that at the state I was in I needed something more and I told them I wanted to do inpatient. They set it up and I was transferred straight from the hospital to in-patient rehab. I was there for almost 3 weeks and I detox without anything to help me. They were stunned at the amount of narcotics I was taking. After the in-patient stint, I did out-patient 3 times a week for about 3 months. In looking back, yes, the doctor over prescribe, but I didn't blame her for what happened to me because she didn't force me to self-educated. Once I detox I became afraid of those strong narcotics. I remember everything I went through and I was afraid to go back there. The doctor told me in my situation fear was good because I draw on it to keep me from relapsing. This happened in 2012 and I never want to go back to my narcotics using days. I still have sciatica, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis in my right knee. My left knee was bone on bone so, I ended up having a total left knee
replacement done. I never went back to taking prescribe pain. I take extra strength Among everything I also had depression and anxiety. I recently develop full scale panic attacks. So, right now I am getting treated by a psychiatrist who is treating me with Zoloft and 1 mg of Xanax twice a day as needed. I never went back to the pain management doctor that had prescribed all those narcotics for me. I guess she is still going strong over-prescribing. Sorry for this lengthy soliloquy but I just wanted to share my story.
I don't think any doctor freely writes these prescriptions anymore. I was with the same doctor almost 7 years and am no longer seeing him over his schedule and my work schedule conflicting. It's hard to find a doctor that writes these prescriptions at all and if you do you will need a recent mri, a paper trail from your last doctor, from your pharmacy and able to pass a drug panel at every visit.
@Busted, what do you mean " what do you mean,. There is no patient care. These doctors care about themselves?? Let's keep this real. We all know that many doctors had no problems with prescribing narcotics. They had no problems, over prescribing. Example, huge amounts & high dosage without blinking. So many people have died from prescribed narcotics, the DEA stepped in to reign it in.
@ Busted, even though it's difficult, I don't blame the doctors. They have dedicated years of schooling to achieve their goal. What do you want them to do? Forgo all the DEA rules and regulation just to prescribe you narcotics. To answer your question. These doctors should care about themselves because they have a lot to lose. They can lose their license but, most importantly their freedom. If people were taking the narcotics as prescribed, death rate from overdosing would not be at an all time high. In order for someone to die from narcotics. It shows that they were not taking the narcotics they it was prescribed. Strong narcotics were not meant for long-term use. They are not there for long-term use to treat people with debilitaing chronic pain. In fact when a person is on these strong narcotics. They are supposed to be titrate down, not up. There are empty of other options that can be utilized to treat chronic pain sufferers.

Sounds like you just need to grow up and get off your drugs. People like you make me sick to my stomach. You don't need that s###! Everyone is always looking for the easy way out of life. Why don't you just drink gasoline while you're at it? And for some reason I bet this will make you so angry. But it's the truth. And I don't care what you think about it.
