The only thing you can really do is set up an appointment with a new doctor and see if they will prescribe it for you. Usually if you call them and ask over the phone, they are reticent to say whether they will, or will not prescribe anything, because they are afraid they might be dealing with a drug seeker. I know that's not what you're doing, I am just letting you know about the reaction you might get, if you ask for a specific medication, and aren't a current patient.
You can, however, ask if they accept your insurance.
The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, loss of appetite, headache, irregular heartbeat, insomnia, and anxiety.
These medications are commonly abused, which likely adds to the reluctance of some doctors prescribing them, some also carry the risk of being habit forming, according to NIH reports.
Can anyone suggest a good doctor in that area?
