Doctor Made Me Stop Levo For One Week

I had been taking levo .150 for about 9 years. Just this june, my Doctor upped my med to .175. After doing that, she had me take a blood test. Thyroid still low. She asked me if I was taking it with other meds, I said yes. Then she told me how to take it the right way. After doing that, I had started to notice some things like heart palpitation and anxiety and sometimes depression. I called my Dr and she told me to stop taking my med. then I went to her and had blood works. It was a total of 8 days that I did not take my meds. I just started taking .150 again 4 days ago. I don't feel right. I'm depressed, I can't sleep, I Always hot, and I'm having crazy thoughts. My mind won't stop thinking. Someone please help me:(

That symptoms you've described are typical of your thyroid hormones being out of whack and of the medication trying to do its job to correct things.

Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, hair loss and weight changes.

If you weren't taking it correctly before, so it wasn't having its full effect, it makes sense that you would be experiencing more symptoms, now.

Have you informed your doctor? They may need to prescribe something else to help your depression and erratic thinking, until things normalize.

I have been on levothyroxine since 1967 so I am assuming your need for the medicine is either for a decline in thyroid activity or sudden removal of your thyroid gland. I was born devoid of the thyroid and parathyroids. My best advice to you for the erratic thoughts is to find a reliable relaxation technique. I am the opposite on temperatures I often feel uncomfortably cold, part of your thyroid's job is to regulate temperature. It's easy to put on extra layers if we're cold, it's not so easy when you're hot and need to remove clothes, there's only so much you can shed in public.
