Disappearance Of 12mg Chlor-trimeton.... Again (Page 2)

Question! Where can I find Chlor-Trimeton 12hr 12mg allergy pills? (near San Diego, CA) It seems that whenever a new allergy medicine comes on the market (Claritin, Zyrtec), CT disappears for a year or so. Available in Canada as Chlor-Tripolon but only for a short while as everyone in the US starts buying it on-line when CT disappears. This time, I haven't noticed any new product roll-out. Question 2- WHY does it disappear? I've been taking it regularly for over 50 years and only recently (last few years) has it been doing this disappearing act.

Chlor Trimeton 12 hour or the generic brand to this medication is the only thing that works for me without it I suffer really bad! I have severe allergies and this is the only one that works.
I have tried Clartin ( it does not work especially if a person has severe allergies you might as well take a sugar pill.)
Allegra (gave me the flu) I later found out that one of the side effects of Allegra is lowering of white blood cells, and respiratory infections.
Zyrtec does not work for me either.
I ordered a one year supply of the generic bran to Chlor Trimeton 12 hour and now my life is back to normal it does not raise my blood pressure and it does not make me sleepy during the day take if from an extreme allergy sufferer this is the only thing that really works.

It really doesn't make you sleepy? I take it. It cures my allergies but makes me sleepy. So I take another pill to wake me up.

I was recently able to find a store brand generic for the 12 hour 24 tablet blister pack at CVS Pharmacy.

I have been taking 12-hour dose of Chlor-Trimeton or its generic for many years and daily now for about 1-1/2 years as treatment for my vertigo caused by labyrinthitis. When it went off the market last time, I called the manufacturer and they said it was not lasting for 12-hrs like dosage claimed so it was being worked on. I can buy 4-hr dose many places but 12-hr more diffcult... Hope this helps you!

It will...also purchased the same as you and have been buying on Amazon.com for at least a year now. Works great! The reason it does as none of the other OTC or Rxs work like it does is due to different ingredient. Coricidin (spelling?) Is the only one sold OTC that includes it as one of the ingredients and is known to be safe for those with high blood pressure...heart healthy.

I get major swelling and itching from any kind of insect bites and have always used chlor triplon which has been my savior. I can rarely find it in stores these days ... especially the 24 hr one which is the best. Anyone know where I can find it? I live in Victoria BC and am hoping to go camping really soon and don't want to leave ho.e witbout it. Thanks in advance ....

It disappears as it is made be Merck medical, the makers of Claritin. As soon as it went OTC, Chlor trimeton's days were numbered on the shelves. Retooling of the machines to make Claritin meant lite to no room for the other.

I wholly agree since Chlor-Trimetron 12 disappeared I've tried every OTC antihistamine out there even had the Dr prescribe some prescription varieties but none worked and everything eventually lead to Bronchitis which required several rounds of Antibiotics to get me back to normal and the 4hr version requires setting an alarm so you do not miss a dosage because if you miss a dose you have to start all over in the treatment regimen. With 12 hr I can take 5 doses as prescribed then go to 24 hr between doses as a maintenance. If the throat tickle returns I return to a 12 hr regimen.

I am glad to have found the 12mg bottle of 60.of Chlorphenirmine Maleate Extended Release. I am using it because I have a cough that I have had for 20 years. This seems to help me some but is there something else that I need to use like a nose spray or something? Also, is it safe for me to take it more often than 2 times a day? It does seem to only work for a few hours. This is from post nasal drip that comes around when I am talking on the phone or talking too fast. This has been a problem for so long and no Dr has been able to help me. HELP

Hello, thank you everyone for the valuable information. I too have been Td off about Chlor-tabs dissapearing .. It has very little side effects . The other causes cancer and such. Take lots of vitamin A with Chlortremiton

Chlortrimeton 4 mg and 12 mg have been discontinued as of December, 2015. I called Bayer, who now owns Chlortrimeton, to find out why it is missing from shelves and on-line. The told me both dosages have been permanently discontinued for "business reasons." So, it's permanently gone forever. To bad. Like many others, this was the only allergy relief for my wife - and I think we've tried them all.

Just a FYI, I too am suffering from lack of these particular allergy pills so I tried the Walmart brand (Equate) of Chlor-tabs and they work just as good as the Chlor-trimeton!
