Diprospan Drug Information
Updatedfor chest congestion flu sumptoms, possible asthma.
In the pollen season I have very bad eczema in my face, swollen eyes, elephant man skin etc. When it is so bad that I cant handle the itching anymore I get a diprospan shot. In stand relieve. After two days the skin of my face is smooth and soft, no redness, swelling etc. The diprospan normally helps for 4 weeks (that’s the first shot in the season) but I noticed that I get used to it because now the itching starts already after 2 weeks. Its written that you can have a shot every week if necessary but I am a bit scared to do that, after all its cortisone.
I understand your concerns, but unfortunately, with severe allergic reactions, steroids are quite often the only solution.
It is normal that after a certain period of time using it, your body would build up a tolerance and the same dosage will not help as much or last as long as it used to.
There is nothing listed under this name in the prescription drug listings, but if the medication you are referring to is Diprosone, then it is not Cortisone.
Diprosone is Betamethasone, which is a corticosteroid, it carries less dangers and side effects than straight steroids such as Cortisone.

I am having inflammation and very pain of my finger joint, knee and shoulder and having allergic condition. Before 5 years I inject diprospan injection to my palm.It was permanent cure that joint. Now I am having it more joints. So I cant inject it for my all joints. Please advice Sir, will DIPROSPAN PILLs help me for cure my joints?.
I've had eczema since I was small just around my hands and feet but over the last 3 years I had a terrible breakout. The eczema spread like wildfire all over my body and face. The dermatologist I went to prescribed steroid creams for me which worked for a week but then I guess my body got immuned to the the creams. The doctor prescribed a higher dose of steroid creams but I didn't use them and stopped seeing the doctor because I didn't see the point of thinning my already thin skin. (This was about 2 years ago)
Then, December last year, I went to see a clinical doctor and got and allergy shot and behold! My broken skin has regenerated and the itchiness are all gone. The doctor said he believed I wouldn't need any more shots after this as long as I take care to moisturize my skin and take care of my emotions, because apparently negative emotions worsens eczema.
So I really do suggest anyone with eczema to consult a doctor for allergy shots! It's heaven~~~
I don't know if this is still relevant to you but I am writing because I so deeply identify with your husband's problem. I too could not work during some months of the year because of allergies. My doctor prescribed Diprospan injections during those months and I do not take it the rest of the year. It has changed my life. I can function now, go to work, manage at home, etc. The side effects I used to have of not functioning at all seem to me worse than the potential side effects of the drug (at least in my particular case).
At times during the extremely allergic months I also take a combination of other drugs (anti histamines - my best bet is Aerius- and ocassionally also decongestents) and increase these as the Diprospan wears off. All of this under my doctor's supervision.
In addition I am as careful as possible with lifestyle issues - avoiding certain foods* makes the drugs considerably more effective. It has taken many years of experimenting with diet and lifestyle changes to fine tune it but the results are amazing and I function very well now except for needing more sleep during the worst months and I try to work around that. Desperation drove me to make all these changes but they were worth it. Best of luck with controlling the under acknowledged significant disfunction of chronic severe allergies.
* Cutting out foods: I am not "allergic" per se to these foods but cutting them out (as much as possible) is hugely significant in how sick or well I feel. You have try see what works for you but the most common offenders are wheat products, sugar, and dairy. A welcome side effect of cutting out them out is sometimes a decrease in appetite. Yay!
I have constant shoulder pain, I think its worn out, I am 80, other joints not to bad.

Hello, I have a skin problem. The sides of my foot soles and my toes as well as my fingers become so itchy. Then, as I would scratch the itchy area, it thickens thickens and suddenly cracks. It would always undergo the same process- itchy then thickens then cracks, vice versa. At first, I thought it is just fungal infection so I use Ketonazole but it just helps to make the area thin again but still itchy. I still continue to use Ketonazole up to now. Is this an allergy? I got this only when I turned 18. I had this for almost two years. My friend who has a similar problem with mine suggests me to have Diprospan Ampul injection. Will it help me?
You can go to my doctor for the shot. Dr. Russell Phillips in Coppell, Tx. Tell him I referred you.

You probably have eczema. Unfortunately you cant get rid of it, you can just manage it. Extremely hot showers and hot tubs are bad.
My ob required me to have a diprospan inj. in case I deliver my baby prematurely. What if I wait until my due date? Does affect my baby? I'm 30 weeks pregnant.

What kind of side affects did you have?
I believe it is not for continuous use according to reports. When I had the problems with my hands I had 9-10 injections over 2 years. I'm carefull with any meds and do not like to use unless necessary.
My side affects are sleeplessness and hick-ups for the day afterwards.
Hello sorry to hear abouth your results could you tell me what were your side effects please??
I used Diprospan for many years and yes its like a miracle for any pain in your body , but the side effects are terrible. I definitely don't recommend please do a lot of research before using Diprospan.
