Diphenoxylate and Atropine is commonly used to treat severe diarrhea.

I have had Crohn's disease for about 20 years and have been taking 2 lomotil tablets about 1 hour to and hour and a half before every meal as my Gynecologist has ordered. It works well for me unless my Crohn's disease is in an active state.
