Difference Between Adderall And Amphetamine Salts (Page 25) (Top voted first)

I was recently diagnosed with Adult ADD and have been prescribed Amphetamine Salts (Generic for Adderall) for a few months now. The initial dosage was one 10mg tablet/ three times a day and recently my Doctor upped the dosage to one 30mg tablet/ twice a day. I know that overall this has been very beneficial for me but I cant help but wonder if the generic brand (IR Amphetamine Salts) has less of the active ingredient, and more unnecessary side effects(irritability, fatigue). I know that while the active ingredients are likely to be the same, the "fillers" usually are not and even the active ingredients can vary up to 10%. I also know that everybody reacts differently depending on their bodies' make-up as well as the drugs and I have always reacted sensitively to any kind of drug. The more I "google" the more I want to stay away from the generic form. Also- almost every pharmacy around has little to no Adderall Brand IR tablets in stock, they only have the generic brands and possibly Adderall brand but only the Extended-Release. My Doctor seems to firmly believe that there is no difference between Adderall XR and Adderall IR, and because she prescribed me the generic form (Amphetamine Salts), she probably doesn't see a difference there either. I don't have the time to ask 10 doctors what they think so if anyone has any information or experiences please share! Thank you!

Very well said Dave. My son was on it for a few years. Then when he got older (he is one that kinda out grew the adhd). He never got hooked on them. He does not smoke or even drink. so people should not judge some so harsh. Though I do no there are some that abuse them, like other things...drinking, smoking, coffee (yes coffee) cigs. and I might add food. Be nice to people who may really have a problem.

And about the blog generics suck, I wasn't real adderall but since Teva owns the IR now I'm sure if it changed, I'm on Corp now and I'm not impressed.

Yo, she said was an adult. Go ahead and give advice but she stated in her first sentence she is an adult (ie. not a minor). Also, verbage like "kido" is condescending and really, no one wants to hear you after that.

You are right in my neck of the woods I Louisiana, Hammond myself, do you know what pharmacy around here can get real adderal IR, it's actually only 24 bucks with my insurance and the generic crap is 30, but having a hard time finding a pharmacy that has the real adderall 30 m IR?

You can try channel drugs. If they don't have it they may order it. Ask for mike or kevin. Mike is one of the owners. You may have to get the dr to say no generics. BUT don't tell them that. Just say u don't want the generics at first. Hope this helps.

I don't know what (TAG) means.because I'm stupid on this comp.but I get the guestion I think.who are we talling to?? and for your other post? I agree that klonopin is beet for me also.xanax, Ativan etc.either made me to sleepy.or even forget things.i tolerate klonopin great.not sleepy.just realize my panic/aniety has subsided.

Ask pharmacy to get what you want.They should do it otherwise go to different. Pharmacy .

What are 'stay awake' medicines? Lol I like your posts Herb. I'm glad you have had success treating your add. I would love to get mine straight and the right meds/ dosing. How much do you take per day? Have you changed medicines at all, ever, and what do you take, the label name?

People who abuse drugs really do harm to themselves and also people who take it as prescribed, whether it's opiates or amphetamine it doesn't matter, both are safe if you do it the right way. If you take 20 pills at one time of either oh well, rest in peace, I mean come on.

There is no real difference. The X-ray however lasts longer and packs less punches. Crush the opponents is a boxing metaphor. Lol

Yeah obviously you are completely one sided and do not take any of these drugs. Why don't you try to be a little more about the solution instead of part of the problem. She's/we are asking for opinions on the generic Adderall and real Adderall, we are looking for facts as to why the drugs differ from one to the other. I am not a narcoleptic and I was diagnosed with ADD at a very young age. I tried to not do the medication thing for quite some time and have just recently gotten back on medications. I can't afford insurance so I pay out of pocket, so not only is it next to impossible to attain these little bastards at the pharmacy because it seems that everybody and their mother is on them but also are super expensive... So when I do pay out of pocket around 350/400 a month all said and done they are not up to par, sub sub par. I don't know who or what you stand for but imagine going to a bunch of stores like Whole foods to get a certain type of organic apple, and they are sold out everywhere, but you need this apple cause it's organic, GMO free, blah blah, you finally find this apple and then you realize after you bite into it, it tastes like an onion and oh wait it is an onion it's just been spray painted red and a sticker that says what you want to see and read on it.

I have been on adderall generic and ritalin for a 10 years. They stop working faster than anything I ever have taken. You never forget to take them like other drugs since your brain wants that dopamine release. I have been on many antidepressants over the years the Drs. said you been on a bzillion medications we should not go down that road. So I get older and toil through life. My father is slipping away with Dementia I wish I was there for him. I cannot believe how quickly my body has broken Adderall drug down and it's like they do not work but I am so addicted I only stop when I run out.

My wife started taking Adderall 20 mg twice a day, this has been her starting dose for about a month now. She compares it to the likes of coke. She knows the comparison, trust me. I'm not so sure about it. She does things way out of normal character. She wanted me to try it, I said no. Married 25 years. I'm thinking WTF happened. Thanks Dr. gary

Be careful with Vyvanse. After being prescribed to it form 18-22, i started losing my hair, and starting getting bad mania episodes. Not much is known about the long term effects it seems and when you bring up the potential balding for numerous reasons the doctor will give the "well, it's possible but it's not proven" with sympathetic eyes. Than came the psychotic episodes. The first one caused me to stop the medication for a about a year and a half nearly two. I couldn't help but think everything was directed at me, it was a detrimental bout of narcissism, paranoia, and though it I lost a lot. Then i decide to take it again, after about a year of using it again I fell into an episode that caused my friends to believe I have lost it and am never coming back, even my family is skeptical. I couldn't keep my weight up and was constantly fluctuating. I have experienced mental stress, and many different states, but this was different. It seems to have the most understated, side effects for a medication I have ever came across. Even when i was hospitalized the doctors first question was "do you smoke methamphetamine", I was immediately thrown off and asked em why and to get a toxicology, they replied they've never seen behavior like that without methamphetamine. So long story short, it's a prodrug I believe, this allows them to put more amphetamine than technically approved by the FDA because it is not present until it is metabolized in your liver, hence why you have to take Vyvanse orally. Just be careful of prolonged use unless you want to know what it feels like to be a one of those homeless guys you see mumbling to himself, clinching his hands, blinking a little too hard, biting your lip, you know the drill. O yea, and practice good dental hygiene if you plan on using this medication.

u r 100% right they used 2 hav teva brand generic & it was very good, but now it joined with bars & its anxiety & paranoia side effects r 2 much.,.& there is a major diff with generics ..that's a real problem in this country we r forced 2 take low-grade generics that hav unbearable side effects.
