Difference Between Adderall And Amphetamine Salts (Page 15)

I was recently diagnosed with Adult ADD and have been prescribed Amphetamine Salts (Generic for Adderall) for a few months now. The initial dosage was one 10mg tablet/ three times a day and recently my Doctor upped the dosage to one 30mg tablet/ twice a day. I know that overall this has been very beneficial for me but I cant help but wonder if the generic brand (IR Amphetamine Salts) has less of the active ingredient, and more unnecessary side effects(irritability, fatigue). I know that while the active ingredients are likely to be the same, the "fillers" usually are not and even the active ingredients can vary up to 10%. I also know that everybody reacts differently depending on their bodies' make-up as well as the drugs and I have always reacted sensitively to any kind of drug. The more I "google" the more I want to stay away from the generic form. Also- almost every pharmacy around has little to no Adderall Brand IR tablets in stock, they only have the generic brands and possibly Adderall brand but only the Extended-Release. My Doctor seems to firmly believe that there is no difference between Adderall XR and Adderall IR, and because she prescribed me the generic form (Amphetamine Salts), she probably doesn't see a difference there either. I don't have the time to ask 10 doctors what they think so if anyone has any information or experiences please share! Thank you!

I am actually really smart, however, I have ADHD. I take Amphetamine salts (aka Adderall). So for you to say something like this, is actually pretty ignorant. People out there need help. Fun fact: you are not perfect it either. People who need medications to help with certain problems are not "below you," many of us could be your doctor, your teachers, and your neighbors. Think next time before you speak!

I've begun taking the generic Adderall, 20 mg XR. I enjoy the focus at work and energy it's giving me, my complaint is, though, I crash around 3:00. I'm very tired the rest of the day and am worse than before I began taking it. Any experience with this and what suggestions do you have? I've been on it for 2 weeks and won't see my doc for another 2. Do I go up in dosage? I'm not happy with taking drugs at all and am already on Wellbutrin (mid dosage), Lexapro (small dosage), Trazadone (for sleep, small dosage). Now I'm wondering if I should have began at all but my work was being affected (always has) and boss suggested I do something. Thanks for any input.

You should talk to your Dr. about a second lower dose at 3pm. I myself take it again around 1pm-3pm depending on how early I took my first dose! Not everyone can handle a second or third dose so late in the day. I guess if your taking Trazadone to sleep; my guess is you won't have a problem. I will say one thing, I can take my third dose before I go to sleep. It relaxes my mind so that I'm not focused on a million other things which usually causes my insomnia! Hope this helps!

You are the reason it is so difficult to take the proper medication for ADD and/or panic disorder. It DOES help........I have experienced my conditions with and without medication and I would not be functioning right now if I was unable to take these meds. You obviously have no idea that a mental illness is a disconnect between neurons in your brain. If you had a tumor and needed chemo, of course, that would be acceptable. I am so sick of YOU and people like you that have no idea what it's like to have a mental disability. You basically have to hide it from the world.......but "omg" if you have cancer everyone's coming to your rescue......bullsh__t!!!!

To poly drug patient taking "The Holy Trinity" The name derived by the DEA is a combination of alprazolam or Xanax, carisprodol, or Soma and either oxycodone or oxymorphone or Opana. In addition, mixed amphetamine salts (Adderall) Makes this the "Double Holy Trinity" of poly drug use. Xanax alone is often enough to raise a red flag. Soma, a muscle relaxant, last year was not even scheduled in California. The idea with ADD is to increase your attention span. The buzz is over the top. No doubt highly desirable. When taking the d-amphetamine hold up on the depressants until bedtime. This "Holy Trinity" is the misnomer placed upon the patient whom has a propensity to increase the dose of their medication on their own propensity. It is undoubtedly pleasant. The stimulants taken with depressants are just defeating the purpose of the indication of ones ADD/ADHD. To each their own. Benzodiazapines and MU agonists are frowned upon but usually dispensed. The fact is, the drugs frequently find themselves being sold or given away at "Pharm Parties" or a blitz of many other drugs in a "Super Bowl". A kind of free for all of a plethora of who knows what. In combination with alcoholic libation that spells morbidity or mortality.

I totally agree...the way she used STUPID is not right. I deal with ADD and I am far from stupid sweetheart. It has helped me tremendously but as well the generic gives me migraines and I just feel awful. Yes it is addictive but if you take it as prescribed doesn't make you an abuser. Unless you have walked any of our walks then don't be a hater of the drug. I am sure you have your own issues that we do not

I started out taking the 20 mg Adderall IR (generic) 3 times a day. I tried several generics and the one made by Barr was the best, however it is no longer available. The next best I found was made by Santos. I found it difficult to take the meds at the same time every day which is very important. So, I have switched to the Adderall XR, (brand name) 60 mg in the AM. This gives a more even dose that lasts all day. I have no sleeping problems. This has worked very well for me, however I find that I must buy the brand name. My co-pay is expensive, but this condition and treatment is too important to skimp. I suppose everyone is different but I find that I definitely need the brand name Adderall.

There is a difference between generic and brand name Adderall Xr. I take Adderall XR 10mg Brand name. The generic made by TEVA is crap; Amphetamine salts. 60mgs of addrall is a bit much. Ask Dr. to write NO SUBS BRAND NAME ONLY on RX. The brand name is even cheaper than the generic w/insurance my co pay is 10.00$

The reason why they only do vyvanse is probably because you can't abuse vyvanse while you can abuse adderall. By taking more vyvanse, it doesn't increase the high but only te duration of effects. With adderall, you can take 1 pill and feel it or 3 and be high as a kite. This isn't the case with vyvanse, which is why they would give it out for free, because there isn't potential for abuse

ADDERALL can be a God Send for those who benefit from it. Some believe one "Grows Out of It" The ones told to live with it do not benefit from a trial with the Rx. Even in the age of forties a adult may well consolidate the repeated procrastination so often the main contribution or main complaint of ADD/ADHD. Money wise, the individuals who get Tx double or quadruple their lifetime income. Finishing tasks, absentee's lessen, and satisfactory interpersonal relationships become the norm.

Except vyanse doesn't work especially for those who have depression/lethargy with ADHD. Right now the DEA cop mutants are calling the shots on the medical profession which is running around with it's tail between it's legs. In New York they're cutting everyone's rx. They cut me from 30mg 2x/day to 10 mg 2x/day and my life is hell. LETS BREAK UP THE DEA ONCE AND FOR ALL !

I absolutely agree with you. I've had adderall and amphetamine salt. When I use the generic (a.s) I get irritated very easily and feel restless yet lazy. Adderall just makes me get things done and helps the racing thoughts. Your not alone. It's the salt part whenever they give me amphetamine salt I get that reaction. I was just given it again and just took some so maybe this time will be different.

Just because a child has ADD/ADHD doesn't mean that they are not smart. If you know any this about the disability you would know that they just have a harder time being able to concentrate on most daily tasks. I think the the stupid ignorant one would be the person not understanding a disease, disability, infection ect. I don't think you should comment on something unless you are 100% knowledgeable of the entire situation for each individual person with a problem

My doctor just put me on adderall 5mg (amphetamine) to wake me up and give me me energy. He'll I'm sleepier now and still no strength. What's up with that?

I'm happy to hear to won't let your daughter see this doctor, but how about yourself? My unsolicited opinion is that it's time to fire this doctor! I am an RN, and it's a needed action at some times. Remember, "1/2 the doctors were at the bottom half of their class in med school."

the fact that there were in excess of fifteen spelling errors in your little tirade,
shows that you're incapable of writing at all. Fortunately, you've excepted the
fact that, "If you are not smart, then that is how 'god' made you." So, not only
are you without a drug, but you're also without a prayer. However, I'm sure that
