Did India Ban Anxit Recently?

I have heard that in some friends that as per the news paper articles published recently ANXIT has been banned i India. Honestly I have not personally read these articles, but one of the people who gave this information about the articles is my own elder sister who had earlier consulted a doctor who had prescribed Anxit for my Dad. Now the same sister advised us to STOP ANXIT as she had personally read the news about banning of ANXIT. Please advice whether this drug is safe for Dementia and Alzheimer Disease patients.

I am based in India. My father - who is 85 years old - is suffering from partial Paralysis, Blood Clots in His Brain, Alzheimer Disease and bouts with Anger, Frustration Bouts of Anxiety mixed (due to his immobility- paralysis) with symptoms of mild Lunacy. He was prescribed ANXIT by a renowned Doctor to calm him down and help him sleep at night. Meanwhile, my sister read somewhere in the news that ANXIT has been banned i India _ we are not sure of the authencity of this news article and no information is available through Google search. The Doctor himself has heard no such negative feedback about ANXIT - hence we wanted to double check the authencity of this drug - Chemical Name is : ALPRAZOLAM TABLETS 0.5 mg. could anyone help clarify this please - either that its SAFE under his conditions - or NOT SAFE - OR UNSURE IF IT IS ADVISED.
