Diabetic In Pain From Nerve Damage And In Need Of A New Doctor

Needing Help! I have to find a new physician. I am in the Kokomo, IN area. I was on Neurontin and Percocet which took care of the neuropathy in my feet. I am diabetic, which has resulted in nerve damage. The pain in my feet rotates from a burning feeling -- much like I've stuck my feet on a frying pan then it goes into a stinging feeling, like a fly swatter slapping my feet over and over and over. This goes on 24/7. I'm not expecting Oxycontin or Morphine. But I at least need my Percocet and Neurontin. It takes BOTH of them to work. They don't totally kill the pain, but they definitely helped to ease it up. If anyone knows of a family doctor or general practitioner, etc. who would possibly prescribe these, please let me know. I feel uncomfortable posting this, but I don't know where else to turn to. Thank You!

The main issue is that you're probably not going to find a family doctor that will prescribe them on a long term basis. Due to the new regulations that were put in place this year, there are very strict limits on what they can prescribe for pain, how long they can prescribe it and why they can prescribe it.

Thus, you are most likely going to have to see a pain specialist to get help.

Do you currently have a GP that you see regularly? If so, it would probably be easiest to just have them refer you somewhere.

Does anyone know of a doctor in the area?
