Dependence Vs Addiction
UpdatedThis is the question. Most pain patients become dependent on thier pain meds which is not addiction. we need them to live and fuction every day and we do build up a tolerance to them and need to increase them because our body has built up a tolerance. Addiction is when someone who is not taking them as the dr.s orders and become addicted because of thier personallity and behavior, if it wasn't pain meds then it would be some thing else. Good luck to all

Addiction actually occurs most often due to the fact that people like the way something makes them feel, but since that is just a side effect, it eventually wears off as their body gets used to the drug of choice, so have to continually take more and more to get that feeling back… and what also explains why so many people overdose.
And dependence is pretty much what you've described.
Thank you for your post! :-)
Is there anything else I can help with?
