Hello. I'm on day 3 of Celexa 20mgs and after my first dose, I woke up the next morning feeling better than I have in almost a year! But yesterday and today I feel, well, blah.... Every night when I take Celexa, about an hour later my stomach is in knots and it goes on for about 2 hours and then I get sleepy and go to bed. I awake the next morning and feel drowsy but coffee seems to help. My concern is, my doctor told me opposite of what I've read others say in that he says this medicine will not take 2 or more weeks to "kick in", he says I'll notice effects fairly quickly!? I don't feel as obsessive and my anxiety side effects aren't as debilitating but I do feel strange and very unlike myself now. Will this get better? After reading many threads, the last thing I want to do is take Celexa for 2-3 months and still feel strange and then have to come off of it and experience some of the awful withdrawl symptoms I read about.... Anyone willing to share their experience, I would greatly appreciate. Thank you!

You may feel some effects quickly, but it will still take a month or so to reach its full level of efficacy in your body.
And yes, the side effects you're experiencing will most likely start to taper off at about that same time, that's actually when you'll know whether or not its working for you and if you can continue taking. If you hit the 4 week mark and it's not really helping and/or those side effects have no improved, then you'll likely need to switch to a different medication.
Other side effects may include dizziness, dry mouth and weight changes.
