Day 1 Of Xulane Instead Of Ortho Evra (Page 2)

Updated

I HATE this new patch already. Did not adhere to my skin as easily as ortho and came off about 4 hours after applying. I've been on ortho evra for 5 months loved it and never once had a problem but I already can't stand xulane and so I don't know what I'm going to do ! :(
My insurance switched me to xulane because it's the generic brand to ortho evra. This sucks I hate life.
Ps. I'm 18

I recently have been switched over to Xulane since my insurance no longer covers Ortho. I have been on Ortho for 5 years and have had no issues with it besides just skin irritation occasionally. I am hesitant in trying the new patch because of all the negative comments about it. Has anyone had any skin problems from it such as acne? I heard that if you switch your bc that can happen plus I've seen it happen to my friend. Do you guys know any other alternatives that have same hormones etc. as a diff form of b.c?

I'm using the XULANE now for two weeks and now I got acne and some rashes on my arms. And I gained 3lbs in two weeks time. My doctor prescribe to ortho evra but cvs gave the generic one. I think I need to take it off and call my doctor to call the pharmacy do they will only give me the original one.

Hoenstly, with all the fiber of my being I think this patch should be removed from the use of the public. It's not helping people only hurting and it's all the same symptoms. I'm worried to see it on the next commercial for filing a legal case suit.

Is the acne bad or is it minor? I think I'm just going to pay to get ortho evra from planned parenthood. I was thinking about getting an i.u.d but the reviews on that are mixed as well. Its very painful when it's inserted especially if you have never given birth before and cramping is also a side effect as well as potentially acne.

After being on Ortho Evra for 9 years, I too was switched to Xulane...I hate it I had 2 patches come off when I was in the shower. Some women have said they stick right back on, mine wouldn't. Also since the patches are smaller I've noticed they bend and fold easier, and also stick to my clothes all issues I never had with Ortho. I didn't read the reviews on this patch at first because I figured like any other generic brand of something it would be the same; I was sadly mistaken. This patch made me grouchy and hungry all the time and I also gained weight. Then I started reading about the extended periods women were having and I thought that was weird because that was the one side effect I didn't have... in the 2 months I've been on this horrible patch mine never came at all other than the dark pre tinge (as my doctor calls it). Well yesterday I found out why...Yep I'm pregnant. Used this new patch the same way I had with Orhto all those years and never had an issue. Now this.

How much do they charge you for Ortho where you live? I think I would have to pay 300 something for 4 months worth and that's with the discount with planned parenthood. It really sucks that people who work and pay for insurance most of them can't get Ortho Evra through their insurance anymore. But if you have no insurance and don't work etc and are lazy/live off welfare you get the name brand. I think it should be the opposite. People who work and pay insurance should get name brand and people who don't work and or pay for insurance should get generic.

With insurance they charge me $30 for the ortho.. For xulane it's $10.

After being on OrthoEvra for 5+ years I was switched to Xulane without my knowledge because of insurance requirements. I didn't think twice as I normally don't object to generic medications... Boy was I wrong!!! Today marks one month that I have been bleeding. Addititionally, I am pretty sure I am now anemic from having a period so long because this week I have been especially tired and feeling drained with no real change in my daily routine. My doctor wasn't even aware that there was a generic version of he patch. She apologized for this fiasco and called in an RX for "Brand Necessary" Ortho. CVS has the brand medication and will gladly fill it for $200+ dollars as my insurance stipulates that I must have generic if it's available. What a pain in the arse!! I feel now that I must pay the money for brand as I don't really want to bleed for the rest of my life. Tbis whole thing is just ridiculous and I am so frustrated. Especially because I ise the patch more for estrogen supplementation than for birth control and it's been very convenient up until now. Hang in there, ladies... It would be my assumption that sooner or later all of our horror stories will add up and with any luck this bogus product will be removed from the market. Until then, I strongly recommend switching to another form of birth control if you don't have the option or financial means to get the brand OrthoEvra. I am fearful that the one term implications of using this medication may be as horrible and/or dangerous as all of the short ones already are...

Falls off super easily. I tried to give it a chance and in the first week of taking the medication I used all 3 patches. These are not dependable for preventing pregnancy. Especially since they fall off easily, and its slightly difficult to notice when they've partially failed.

One woman who reviewed this drug got pregnant. I certainly understand HOW. I called and left a review for the company and they said that it was likely just a bad batch. Given the reviews I'd say its a bad product. I'd call the company and leave a review with the FDA if you really want this drug pulled/reevaluated.

I was in oe for 2 years befor having my kids and I was supposed to get back to it but the pharmacy changed me to xulane just like U guys! At first I notice how it peel off easily but my sking was all bad because of the pregnancy so I placed it in my arm and after the 3rd patch I put in my arm just peel of in the shower, I talk to my pharmacist and he told me my insurance was going to charge the penalty (total cost) if I needed a new box! I need the patch for tomorrow and I have nothing because I can't order anymore till its time! Or I have to pay like 100 bucks! This suck it wasn't my fault with ortho evra this never ever happened! Idk what to do but wait and messed up my system thanks to this stupid patch!

Just tried to fill my prescription for Ortho and they tried to give me Xulane... oh hell no. I read the reviews on here immediately and double oh hell no. I begged for my regular Ortho instead and the nice young lady hooked me up. I wasn't about to deal with it. I've been on Ortho for 2 years with no problems and I'd like to keep it that way.

I was on ortho evera for probably 10 years and loved it. No problems and worked great. Last month got generic and didn't think anything of it. This is my second month on it and second week and I've got cramping and bleeding. I finished my last period not even two weeks ago. After reading all the comments I definitely think generic patch is the problem

If you can avoid it, don't switch to Xulane. I don't remember bleeding like this...it started just about when I removed the first patch and replaced it with the second. I am weak and have bad menstrual pain even though my regular period (one week ago) was like any other with just little discomfort.

THIS!!!

I found out that getting it filled through Planned Parenthoog was only $20, whereas my insurance being run through my local CVS cost $35!!!

If your insurance is acting intolerably/won't cover brand name/or you want to switch without having to use Insurance at all, Planned Parenthood's Pharmacy might be the best option.

To anyone who became pregnant b/c of this drug: you're entitled to sue.

Recoverable damages vary from state to state. Thirty-one of the 42 states that recognize a cause of action for wrongful pregnancy permit the plaintiff to seek damages to compensate for the pregnancy and childbirth, but prohibit the plaintiff from seeking recovery for the cost of raising the child. These “compensatory damages” include (1) the expenses of the unsuccessful contraceptive procedure, device, or pill; (2) damages for pain and suffering related to the unwanted pregnancy; (3) the medical cost of delivering the child, as well as the pain and suffering associated with the delivery; (4) the woman's lost wages; (5) damages for emotional distress related to the pregnancy and delivery; (6) damages for injury or death of the woman as a result of the pregnancy; and (7) damages for loss of consortium.

"All states that recognize a cause of action for wrongful pregnancy allow the plaintiff to recover compensatory damages."

I'm the one who created this post, and I am so surprised to see how many people are also having the same issues I had, and others even having worse issues !!

I don't think it's right that they can just try and switch any of us without consulting us or our doctor's. Especially just so insurance companies can save a few bucks and we can save a few bucks on a co-pay.

With Ortha Evra my co-pay was $60 (I have crappy insurance) and with Xulane my co-pay was $60 so for me I didn't benefit at all what's so ever !!

Well, the doctor I go to for my birth control specializes in women's health; and she can accept almost all insurances just like a regular office, but she can also run things through as if it was Planned Parenthood. After two months of trying to give this new brand a try, I finally called her and had her write me a perscription specifying "Ortho Evra ONLY" that way I won't be switched again !!

I'M SO HAPPY TO HAVE ORTHO EVRA BACK !!!!!! I FEEL GREAT (: No more mood swings, irritated skin, or abstaining from intercourse with my boyfriend because my patch is constantly falling off and I'm worried. LOL I know it seems silly to put so much on a birth control but I feel like I have my life back ! (:
