I have been on Daliresp for one month. I have noticed significant improvement in my lungs. By that I mean the mucus is gone, wheezing is gone. My lungs seem to be getting clear and do not feel as heavy as they did before I started taking it. I have had my bouts of depression, I am never hungry, which is a problem because I am underweight as it is. Just wondering if anyone else has had success with this drug. I was hoping to get off oxygen at some point. Don't know if I can achieve that or not. ## I don't have a lot of information on this medication, since it is very new to the U.S. market and we haven't had a lot of posts about it, either, for the same reason. Have you tried discussing this with your doctor? They may have some ideas on how to safely increase your appetite an...
122 REPLIES UpdatedI have been taking Daliresp for a year now. I'm having terrible headaches, tremendous, bad back pain and more.. I'm going to try to get of this medications to see if this is whats causing all. How long will it take for Daliresp to be out of my system.. ## Not sure if you got my post I'm taking dalliresp and my hair is coming out and can't sleep very well was wondering if this is a problem with others ## Daliresp has been known to cause headaches, diarrhea, nausea, insomnia, back pain, and muscle spasms as side effects. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? Are you still taking the Daliresp? Are you on any other medications?
2 REPLIES UpdatedI have only been on daliresp for 3 days, but I'm worried about the side effects. I'm a little anxious and depressed, wheezy, headache and back ache, but mostly I'm concerned about the insomnia. Does anyone have experience in how long these side effects last? Also, I finished a round of predisone about 2 weeks ago so the lack of sleeping may still be the predisone. ## The side effects of most medications usually peak at around 4 to 6 weeks of use, when they reach their maximum effectiveness in the body and they should taper off in severity, after that. And they can take several weeks to wear off, so yes, it could be due to this medication or from lingering effects of the Prednisone you took, it is hard to say. If it gets worse or doesn't start to improve, then please make...
8 REPLIES UpdatedI was laid off from work be cause i could not keep up with my production in data in the office i work. My illness would not let me continue to work and this has caused me to have a hard time getting the medicine i need without insurance. ## You might try contacting the company that manufactures it. Sometimes pharmaceutical companies will help with patients who cannot afford medications for one reason or another. Daliresp is made by Nycomed GmbH for Forest Pharmaceuticals, Inc. ## I see that is an older post, but in case the OP is still looking, or if anyone is looking in the future, there is a program for Daliresp that is offered by the manufacturer for low income patients that don't have prescription insurance. To contact the manufactured for application information you can call 80...
6 REPLIES UpdatedI was worried about the side effects but I took for 2 weeks and then I got flu like symptoms, a sinus like headache, and stomach pain. The Dr said I did not have a fever and saw no reason to prescribe an antibiotic. Sadly I also did not see any improvement in anything like my Shortness of Breath so I decided to stop. My question is: Has anyone had a headache from this drug and if so did it move from one side of the your head to the other. Mine seemed to be a sinus type headache and was to be over my left eye first and now over my right. I do not have any current sinus issues. Anxious to hear anyone's experience with the headaches. ## Hello, Denny! How are you? Headaches are a known side effect of this medication, along with cough, diarrhea and joint pain. What other medications do y...
3 REPLIES UpdatedI have been on daliresp for about a year. Now i have bad tremors. was having headaches. terrible low back pain and joint pain. I stopped taking about 5 days ago-tremors have greatly lessened. weill see about other symptoms soon I hope. also i didn't notice any change in breathing. I did notice an increase in mucous-that was continuous. even bringing up mucous didnt change or improve my breathing. Now i do not feel like i am drowning in mucous-feel much better. ## Hello, Blazer! How are you? Have things improved more, yet? I haven't taken this medication, but I have taken others that caused me to experience tremors and I hated it, so I understand, couple them with other side effects and its ridiculous. The FDA does list these issues as being possible side effects of this medicati...
3 REPLIES UpdatedI started taking Daliresp 1-14-16 my breathing is much better but i've had 3 different spells of my lower back hurting so bad that on a scale of 1 to10 it would be 10 my back never hurt me before so i think im going to have to quit taking it because i can't stand my back hurting like this. ## Hello, Georgene! How are you? I'm sorry about the pain you've experienced. That can be a side effect of this medication, as reported by the FDA, you may also experience nausea, dizziness, dry throat and sneezing. However, most side effects are transient and go away after a month or so, once your body gets used to the medication. If this hasn't improved, it would be best to consult your doctor as it may not be the right medication for you. Is there anything else I can help with? ...
3 REPLIES UpdatedI have read so many good things about Daliresp. My doctor gave me a two week supply to see if I could tolerate the side effects if I had them. I have had some stomach issues and sleeplessness for the 10 days i have taken them. I am determined to make this work! I should have waited to try this new drug. I am booked for a cruise in 10 days. Should I quit taking this and try again when I get back or would I have more issues by stopping now? Or is the worst over? I was also put on Oxygen Therapy two months ago. ## Hello, Kathy! How are you? What did you end up doing? If you've not had any serious problems, after using it for a month, things should likely be fine, but only your doctor can advise you on what you should do. The FDA lists its other typical side effects as possibly includin...

3 REPLIES UpdatedMy husband is now on his 4th week of Daliresp. The side effects are still horrible but from what I have read here, they do finally go away and the breathing is much better with no flare ups. It seems like he has had almost every side effect there is from this. His breathing is getting a little better now. ## Yes, side effects normally reach their peak of intensity and then start to taper off at around 4 to 6 weeks, that's usually the time that a medication reaches its full level of effectiveness in someone's body. Learn more Daliresp details here. However, if they don't start to taper off, or if they get worse, then he should contact his doctor immediately. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you for the information. ## I decided to try it for 6 weeks to see if ...
5 REPLIES UpdatedI have been on Dailresp for just over 2 weeks, and my breathing is much better. In the last few days I have noticed feeling like I have the flu, sore joints, no appetite and a rapid heartbeat. I love this medication. Is it possible the side effects mentioned will go away in time? If so, about how long does it usually take? ## Hello, Deb! How are you? Has there been any change? Those can be normal side effects of this medication, as listed by the FDA. You may also experience headache, diarrhea and nausea. Side effects are usually transient and go away with time, as your body gets used to the medication. However, it really depends on how high your heart rate is going, you may want to have that checked out, to be sure. ## Hi. I had to come off the medicine. My heart rate was so high I need...
2 REPLIES Updatedi've been on Deliresp for four weeks and have suffered no side effects other than a little shaking of the hands my breathing is great. Does there come a time that it stops working? ## Hello, Patty! How are you? Our bodies eventually get used to anything we use for a long period of time and that causes it to become less effective, however, there is no precise time frame that can be given, it varies form person to person. It may take a few months, or it could work for you for years, there's no way to know. The FDA lists the other typical side effects of this medication as possibly including headache, diarrhea, dizziness and back pain. Is there anything else I can help with?

DONT KNOW IF DALIRESP HAS IMPROVE MY BREATHING YET. JUST GOT THE FIRST BOUT OF COPD EXACERBATION AND I FEEL THAT IM STILL RECOVERING FROM IT, BECAUSE OF THIS ATTACKED, MY PULMONOLOGIST PUT ME ON DALIRESP. ## Hello, Jim! How are you? Most side effects are transient and go away, once your body gets used to a medication, it usually takes about 4 to 5 weeks. The FDA lists other typical side effects as possibly including back pain, dry mouth, trouble sleeping, irritability and headache. Is there anything else I can help with?
1 REPLY UpdatedThe side affects were so numerous, especially insomnia, nausea, and shortness of death. There were a few more.. disappointed that I had to stop. Has anyone had side affects after stopping? ## Hello, Hester! How are you? I'm sorry that you had so many problems with it. Side effects may linger for a week or two, after you stop a medication, depending on how long you were taking it. You may also be experiencing some withdrawal effects. How long has it been since you stopped using it? ## About 2weeks. Insomnia and diarrhea has almost subsided. Thanks for responding. ## I took daliresp for about 2 years and after reading tons of negative side effects and knowing it increased the risk of lung cancer, I decided to quit. Additionally, I noticed no reduction in the number of flares. 3-4 seems t...
3 REPLIES UpdatedIf I have to pay out of pocket, what will this drug cost me per month? ## Hello, Marla! How are you? I'm sorry, but I don't have a price to quote you. It can vary from area to area, there is no universal price throughout the U.S. Have you asked your pharmacist? There is also a prescription discount card on each page of this site, towards the lower right, that is free to print. It may help save some money on it. The FDA lists Daliresp as being most commonly used to treat COPD. The typical side effects may possibly include diarrhea, weight loss, dizziness, muscle spasms and sinusitis. Is there anything else I can help with? ## My husband took his first dalirep today for C o p d. Although his pulmonary specialist told him to take one daily. 2 REPLIES UpdatedBeen on Dali Resp for 11 months. It was given to me after a very bad flare up of COPD. Was hospitalized for 3 days. I have to say I have not been sick at all since taking Dali Resp. My breathing is back to normal and I don't need my inhalers either. Since Jan I have lost 40 lbs so that is a help. But I think the Dali REsp restored my breathing back to normal. Dali Resp is suppose to just make flare-ups less severe it says nothing about helping your breathing. I think we got a bonus with Dali Resp rest it lessens flares ups and helps breathing. It is expensive but it is worth every penny. I am glad my ins pays for it my co pay monthly is 20.00 ## Hello, Nancy! How are you? I'm so glad that it's working so well for you! That's awesome!!! Have you had any side effects from ...
2 REPLIES UpdatedI have been using daliresp for over a year. It absolutely changed the quality of my life. Before, I couldn't walk 30 feet without getting breathless. All that changed once I started using it. It, to me, was a miracle drug. Now I am having a very hard time getting it. It has to do with insurance, Dr pre-approval, so on and so forth. I am starting my second week without it and boy, can I ever tell!! I am back to square one... can't walk far, can't talk for a long time. I managed to get 3 emergency pills from the pharmacy and after taking just one pill, I am already feeling better. Just wanted to know the dangers of suddenly stopping daliresp. I can certainly feel a huge change without it. Hopefully the problems with the insurance will be rectified asap. ## Hello, Amanda! How a...
1 REPLY Updatedh ow long does it take for daliresp to get out of your system. ## Hi Cindi, According to the US National Library of Medicine, "the average plasma half-life of Roflumilast and its metabolite (N-oxide) are reported to be an approximate 17 and 30 hours." Ref: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3351880 This means that after every 17 hours, half of the Roflumilast you took is on it's way out of your system, and in another 17 hours there will be "half of that remaining half" left in your system, and so forth. This isn't including the half life of the metabolite (N-oxide), but if you're only concerned about the drug itself, you should be in the clear after a few days I'd imagine. Although this also depends on how much you took as well as several other factors (suc...
1 REPLY UpdatedHave taken daliresp for l yr 4 months. Have not had a episode in over 8 months. My doctor had me start off l tablet every 3 days to keep down the side effect. After 2 weeks, went on full time. I had asthma as a child but has been under control until about 5 years ago and then diagnosed with cough avariant asthma and was very ill for about 4 years with taking steroids and everything else. After taking daliresp, only had two episodes in 6 months. Then of all things, I was diagnosed with sleep apnea. This stopped all my coughing and have not been sick then. Just not sure if I should continue the daliresp. The Cpap that I use every night has also lowered my blood pressure and Dr. stopped blood pressure medicine after 37 years. I think everyone who has any kind of asthma should be checked fo...
